Whirlpool WFE1070BD Washer

This is the first Whirlpool washing machine that we have owned—previously we owned a Siemens washer/dryer that had lasted a decade. We were a little worried about moving from such a reliable brand to Whirlpool, but apart from a minor hiccup after delivery we have nothing to complain about.

The WFE1070BD is a front loading washing machine that can take a load of up to 7.5kg, and has a spin speed of 1000rpm. There is a single dial for selecting the wash—this is very clear and easy to understand—a rinse hold option and a single button for starting the wash. There are diagnostic lights that should come on if the inlet taps are not correctly attached or if the machine needs to be serviced.

The machine takes normal washing powder, and we were lucky enough to buy it while there was a promotion for six months of free washing powder. It's also very energy and water efficient. In normal operation we have no complaint about the machine: it washes are clothes quickly and doesn't leave them in a tangled mess when we try to take them out.

The only problem that we had was that the waste water hose had a hole in it when the machine arrived, so the first time we used it, it leaked water over our bathroom floor. Luckily we caught the spill in time and after a quick call to Whirlpool the hose was replaced. Since the problem had occurred when the machine was less than a week old, they offered to replace it with a brand new machine free of charge.
