Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash...Model LSQ9549PW5

by Fran
(Ledgewood, NJ)

We have had this washer for about 3 years since our last one broke and was not fixable. Thus far, the washer is great and I would recommend it to anyone on a budget as we were. We bought the washer at Sears and paid between 400.00 and 450.00.

This washer boasts commercial quality and has 12 cycles with 5 speed combinations and a porcelain basket. It also has the capacity for Super and Super Plus loads (although I have not used it yet for that size load). What I like most about it is that it has options for Normal washables, Delicates, Casual/Permanent Press, and Hand Washables, and the agitation for each category varies; lower agitation for hand washables and higher for normal loads.

But it also has regular and light options within those categories for when you have heavier or lighter loads. I try to wash a full load at all times, but sometimes I have dedicates or less laundry and it's nice to have those options.

The washer is quieter compared to the Maytag we used to have; I don't remember the model on the Maytag but it was an inexpensive washer that came with our townhouse when we moved into it about 10 years ago in 1998. My parents have one of those expensive front load washers and yes, they are quieter than ours.

I have not had the chance to use and compare expensive washers to ours, so I would say that this washer, for the price, is economical and does the job well. I have not had any problems with the way it washes. We do about one or two loads of laundry every other day or two, so we are not using it every day, and perhaps that is why this inexpensive one still works wonderfully for us.
The controls on the machine are very easy to use; you pick the load size you want on one dial, the temp on another dial, and then what type of wash it is and whether or not you have a light or heavy load on a third dial. It has a buzzer signal when the load is done that you have the option of leaving on or turning off.
I put all my clothes in this washer and so far, it has washed them without ruining them at all, which is nice because I do have a lot of delicates, and children's clothes that have embellishments on them, so I need low agitation for those clothes. I feel confident washing any item in the washer unless I think the color will run.
Overall, this washer is worth the great price if you are on a budget!

We've had this same model and it has been a nightmare! The first week we got it we had to have the timer replaced. It was replaced again 1 year later. At the end of year 2, we had to have the motor replaced because it would not spin. This machine is a piece of crap and should be avoided. Whirlpool is generally a good make, but this one really disappoints! We've had it for 3 years and it is now ready for the bone yard!!
