Eco Friendly Fabric Rinse Alternative

by Mel
(Montgomery, AL, US)

Plain old vinegar makes a great fabric rinse. I think it works better than Downy, Snuggle or any of the commercial stuff.

My clothes seem softer, and my towels become more absorbant because the vinegar rinses away the soap residue. Just add a cup to the rinse water, or put it in the fabric softener dispenser.

Heck, you can even use an old Downy dispenser ball if you have one. Don't worry that you'll smell like a pickle, you won't, the vinegar leaves absolutely no scent behind.

Vinegar in wash
by: Jane

This absolutely works. I have been doing it for years. Like you said it doesn't leave a scent, but if you are concerned you can add a couple drops of lavender etc to make a wonderful scent. Your clothes will be just as soft.

Fantastic
by: Genevia Cameron

This sounds like a great idea. I've had a chance to use vinegar at one point to remove a stain and I was shocked at how quickly it removes the stain. I also had a chance to use baking soda ( always use sepeartely) and it worked just as well on white clothing. I feel that the person who wrote this article nailed it on the head and reaffirmed my use of natural products.
