2 year old machine already broken from Home Depot and about 9 mos into owning this the spin cycle started to get loud and as time passed it got louder and louder but didn't affect the washing cycle. Then just last week it started giving errors and then woulnd't drain the water. Then a couple loads later the washer stopped draining and spinning. We called the repair man and it is going to cost us 1075.00 to repair for a new drum and tub since the ball barring busted and there is oil all over the inside of the drim and the back of washing machine. We paid about 750.00 for the machine plus the pedistal so about 1000 for a 2 year old machine to break. Also found out it is a Whirlpool with a Maytag label on it. I don't recommend anyone to buy this or any Whirlpool or Maytag product.

Why is the Maytag repair man the most lonley repair man, because they don't repair the crappy stuff they sell, it is cheaper to buy a new one.

Why do they make such junk these days? My daughters washer is less than two years old and it needs a new drum. I was over to her house a nd heard it running and it remimded me of a thrashing machine. Like what is that noise? Its my washer, dam you better get it fixed, well I heard today it needs over half of the mashine cost to fix it. To top it off the service stinks,like she was all day yesterday waiting for the man ,well he still hasn't showed up. Two weeks for parts etc. There junk.

I have had nothing but problems since buying this washer 2 years ago. I have had to have a repair guy come twice and he said the next time it would probably need a new water pump. Well, the pump is gone! I am aslo not very impressed with the spin cycle of this machine. It is supposed to save time on drying, but I still have to set the dryer(which is the matching one to the washer)for at least 45 minutes. I have 2 kids and 3 loads a day, I need something efficient!

I would lift up the unit by tilting it to the rear. Underneath you will see a "trap." the best way to explain it. Unscrew the cap and see if there is anything in there. It is designed to catch anything that went through the machine. It is a filter to catch small socks, pantyhose, etc so it does not enter the pump. Mine was making a really loud noise during the spin cycle. I had some socks that had been trapped for who knows how long in there. It was causing a "blockage" and the pump was going crazy. I hope this works and prevents a visit from the Maytag guy.

I am having the EXACT same problem, I have the Maytag front loader MFW 9600SQ1. It is two years old and it started making a really load noise during the spin cycle. It got so bad i have had to stop using it. I called the repair line and they said it sounds like the bearing and the part alone cost $500.00 plus installation. Never mind what ever else they discover and charge me for.
I am SO UPSET. I bought Maytag for my family because i thought it was the "best" brand. The "strongest" machine.
I hope maytag will step up and address this problem. 2 years is way too soon for an expensive purchase to break and the repair bill is too much to justify.
I hope Maytag will help and that I will be able to write back and say how great they were. Fingers Crossed!!!!!!!!

Regarding my Maytag MFW9700SQ1 Front Load Washer.
My washing machine is, and has been having the same problems and is also 2 years old. I am very disappointed in the quality of Maytag products having paid nearly $1,000.00 (plus the cost of pedestals). For a product with such a price tag, I expect it to last much monger than 2 years before needing repairs that exceed it's original cost. In my neighborhood alone, we have had three families have similar issues with Maytag, and the resounding experience is that Maytag's Customer Service is TERRIBLE. As of right now, I have a washing machine that does not complete a spin cycle, nor does it drain, and flashes and error "2F". With two boys under the age of three and a husband in the military (needing clean uniforms), this is proving to be quite challenging. I hope to have a positive experience with Maytag customer service, but am not terribly optimistic. Looks like LG may be our next purchase??

Would not reccommend to anyone, Have had machine for 3 yrs 8 months and this will be my second service call and of course Sear's extra warranty that I paid 209 for in may of 2007 has run out and originally I paid 950$ for on top of deliver and tax total came to $1305.38. Very dissapponted service call may cost at least $500 if repairable. It's just easier to go out and purchase another front loader from different mfr.
