LG Tromm WM2277HS Washer

Where do I start. I wish I never bought them. This is by far the worst washer & dryer I have ever purchased from the home depot. From the day I bought this pair I had trouble with them. The washer only fills up with about 2 gallons of water which isn't nearly enough to get the clothes clean. If you want to conserve water then this washer is for you. Then there is this god awful smell coming from the washer.

The repairman said he would charge me $400.00 to get rid of the smell. He said he would have to take it apart and clean all the mechanisms. Oh, and I forgot about the weekly cleaning you have to do to the slimmy rubber on the inside and the clean out that has trapped smelly water in it at the front of the washer.

You have to get a bucket and drain that trapped water about once a week. Now I am dealing with the spin cycle going out already from the cheap (not stainless steel) nuts and bolts in this washer and by the way when you buy the extended warranty I wouldn't be surprised if they did not cover a lot of things. My washer is 2 years old and I spent a lot of money on something I thought was going to last me a much longer period of time.

Now I am debating if it is worth it to spend the money to get the spin cycle fixed or if I should just junk it and buy a more reliable washer. Not LG(lousy garbage)

LG Tromm washer is junk!

The LG Tromm Washer is a piece of junk. Don't buy it...EVER! Under any circumstance, even if you get it free, it's still not worth it.

LG Tromm front load washer
by: Anonymous

I agree with a lot of people on this page. The washer is a piece of junk. Mine just went out on me the other day. Flooded the laundry room, powder room and hall way. What a mess. We clean the the trap on the bottom of the machine every second week. So what was the problem? Also, I agree, the smell coming from the machine is terrible. I wipe the rim after every wash, and it still stinks. I even bought the Tide washing machine cleaner. Did not help at all. I just waisted water. Also I feel my laundry is never really clean. After my washer clunked out on me, I did a few loads at my neighbors house. She has a Kenmore set, and what a difference it made. I have a repair man come in on Monday. See what he has to say about the cost to repair this piece of junk. I almost made up my mind already to buy a new washer. But never, never another LG appliance.

Honest comments.....
by: Anonymous

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of completing my new home and I was asked to pick out a new washer/dryer by my builder. So, I am here doing research to be better advised of what is out there these days. Mine were purchased new from Home Depot 8 years ago and there's absolutely nothing wrong with them. In fact, I'm actually scared to replace them because I've never had one issue with them. They were moved cross country and back, received a few scratches, but all-in-all they are the best I've ever had. The smell issue I'm told is common with all the front loading machines and I learned early on to leave the door open. I also leave the soap dispenser open after each use and remove for cleaning at least once a month. I figure with the money spent there is some upkeep to maintain them - I'm also very OCD so cleaning is not a problem for me :-) I also purchased an additional pair for a secondary home because I liked them so much. I feel bad for those having issues :-(
Good luck....

Yes,
You are all right except Jay. I have a washer that has codes all the time. Need a new mother board. The matching dryer does not dry the the clothes. The are both junk. My neighbor has refrigerator. Both water lines broke on the LG after two years. The build crap appliances.
Never again will I purchase LG.

Never again. C ya LG (lousy garbage)
by: Anonymous

3 repairs. To the dryer in first year. 2 after that not. Covered by warranty. Thermal safety has to be reset every time it's used. Now my washer is leaking from underneath. Horrible grinding motor sound too. Shakes and noisy. Literally shakes the entire house. Glasses cling together in the wine rack. Throwing them both to the curb once my new Electrolux arrives.

LG TROMM - Do NOT BUY IT
by: Anonymous

LG Tromm is indeed a piece of CRAP!!!!! I have had nothing but problems with this washer from day 1! I purchased it from American and will never, never, never do business with them again! I had 3 home visits from their "service" department and they all left my house without being able to fix this washer. I called an independent service rep and was told "Good Luck" with the LG - not what I wanted to hear. DO NOT BUY AN LG!!!!

LG always makes junk products
by: Anonymous

Most LG products are junk.

Simply don't purchase LG. LG has become such a huge and successful company, simply because it's a Korean company, and therefore 50 million Koreans prefer to buy LG products (and also Samsung, Hyundai) due to Nationalism.

All LG products I have had (a computer, Tromm front-loading washing machine and a LG Whisen airconditioner) had HUGE problems during their first year of use, and I will never buy a LG product again.

The company builds their products to break down quickly - to force people to spend more money on their lousy service or purchase a new one.

Horrible Washer
by: Anonymous

Yes, it is the worst appliance ever! The month after my warranty ran out it quit spinning, has had the control panel replaced three times and has been taken apart and put together several times as the dollar signs flash before my eyes. I was only able to find one repairman who would even touch it and he's a complete nut. It's now leaking again and the door hinges stick. If I could lift it I would throw it out in the yard!
No more LG appliances for my family!!

All LG appliances suck
by: Anonymous

Built a new home 3 yrs ago. Purchased almost all LG appliances. BIG MISTAKE. Dishwasher lasted a week. We asked Home Depot to trade us another brand which they graciously did. Refrigerator had to be worked on several times under warranty (freezer door still pops open when refr. door closes). Washing machine has had major computer components changed out. Is not working again. Microwave computer controls went out awhile back. One more service call on my washer & I could have paid cash for a good brand washing machine. NEVER, EVER purchase any product made by LG. Customer service was poor when units were in warranty.

Pretty sure we are going to have to purchase another washer soon. LG should be banned from being sold in US as far as I am concerned.
Have a nice day.

It's your fault
by: Jay

I have had my LG Tromm W/D for 5 years. The problems you people are describing are related to your own failing. If you actually read the owners manual you will see that you need to clean the filter down by the drain hose. You should also run a cycle on a monthly basis with nothing but bleach in the washer to clean the hoses and basins. We have 8 kids and do about 4-5 loads every day. The only problems we have had is our washer drain pump has failed twice, and that is my wife's fault because she never checks the drain filter and burns out the pump. I have gotten rid of all my GE appliances in favor of LG and Kenmore and have not been disappointed. We are not kind to our appliances.

LG WM2277HS WASHER
by: Anonymous

I agree with everyone here. This is the worst purchase I have ever made. I have had this machine only 3 years and it leaks, smells and the rubber seal tore 2 times due to poor design. My dryer drum went out after only 1 year and i am so sick of their customer service department. My extended warranty had 1 more month left and they refused to repair the rubber gasket because they claim it didn't cover it. But the last gasket they covered. I am so sick of LG and this piece of junk of a machine. I will never buy an LG appliance again.

Piece of SH#T
by: Anonymous

I can not tell you how many times I have torn the washer apart looking for the "mysterious" leak. It is all over the blogs, no one knows why. It comes and goes. I sit there with a flashlight looking for a leak somewhere but never see it. I have replaced the hose, yet it sometimes leaks and quite a bit of water on the floor. The dryer is nearly as bad. It was marking our clothes with black marks. Come to find out the "roller blade" wheels that drive the drum were black and rotting. You cant find anyone to work on these things. Eventually they replaced the unit...guess what? Black marks came back, then they changed the "skate wheels" to white ones. Oh yeah, the smell is horrible. If it did not cost thousands of dollars we would have replaced them already. They are too undependable and too much trouble. DONT BUY THIS JUNK.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
by: Barbara

If you are considering purchasing this washing machine... DON'T!
It REALLY, REALLY stinks. It literally stinks up our entire house when I wash our clothes, AND the clothes are disgustingly smelly when I remove them from the washer. YUCK! I can't wait to get rid of this $1200 washing machine. What a rip off this machine has been for our family.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!

Piece of CRAP
by: Anonymous

Completely agree with every negative post. I previously had a Maytag set for 23 years and NEVER had any trouble whatsoever. I've now had the LG set for 3 years, have had it repaired 3 times.....waiting on repairman for number 4! The LE code is constant, the washer does not clean clothes well, there are leaks, you name it! Absolute worst appliance I've ever owned and I can assure everyone....it will be the very last LG product I ever purchase!

LG is a piece of junk
by: Anonymous

I have had the same problem with a LG front loader. They are all junk. You purchase thinking they would save water and money but all the baggage (smell, repairs, cleaning, frustration) COMPLETELY out weighs any benefits. JUNK, JUNK and more junk. You would think Home Depot sales people would be educated and inform you about his issue...but they could care less. I just went to clean the rubber seal for the 80th time and the crud that is stuck to this gasket is disgusting.....am I really washing my clothes in this crap. DO NO BUY ONE OF THESE pieces of crap...can you tell my true feelings:) Finally, there are many class action lawsuits against LG. This is one time I hope the lawyers win big. I'm about one hour away from throwing this garbage on the street and buying a regular top loader. Read the reviews....most of the top loaders (if not all) don't have this problem. Sorry for the length of this bitch session but hopefully I saved one person from this nightmare......

only problems
by: Jeff

This washer is nothing but problems. It leaks water from underneath. Upon examining it from top to bottom I can not find the source from were the water is leaking. LG can not explain it. They say it is from the pump filter needing cleaned, but I keep it clean monthly. On the bottom, there is a rubber hose called a bellows. You can expect it to rupture within a year. It will cause a major water leak. I have replaced the bellows twice since 2008. This was the source of two water leaks, but all the others are not explainable. I hate this machine. I do not recommend it to anyone.

would never recommend
by: Anonymous

Totally agree with the above post about the worst $2000 we ever spent. Likewise we just have problems with the washer and not the dryer and I know it's the washer for sure 'cause I hang dry many of our items. We use the Affresh tabs religiously, leave the door open b/w loads so it dries out and wipe the inside rubber seal as well and to no avail. It has ruined so many articles of clothing due to leaving these grey grease like or else mold stains on our clothes that I've just ordered a new top loader to replace it and it's barely even 2 years old. We even had a technician out a couple of times who could never find anything wrong with it. Would never recommend a front loader to anyone and definitely not the LG Tromms.

Clothes never smell good
by: Corpus Christi

I am in line with a lot of the other owners. I have had my LG Tromm for about three years. I have had to have major repairs at least three times. The main problem is that the clothing and mainly towels never smell good. Even when you drain it on a regular basis and put in the Affresh tablets the clothes still smell. Pretty disgusting when we paid over two thousand dollars for the washer and dryer set up. We've never had problems with the dryer. Just the washing machine. At this point I am ready to purchase another washing machine. LG has lost out on a good customer and potential sells from friends and acquaintances.

LG TROMM WM2277HS front load washer
by: Anonymous

Biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. It was a good thing I bought the Extended Warranty from Home Depot. Serviced at least 5 times in 3 years. Now the control panel is gone for the second time. The Warranty Service is actually giving me a check to buy a new washer because it is costing them a fortune to keep repairing out of their pocket for this piece of crap. LG's customer service is TERRIBLE. I will NEVER buy another LG anything.
