Kenmore top load elite washing machine
by: Leroy, Illinois

I totally HATE this washing machine! Tears up the clothes, goes off balance all the time, never enough water to even cover the clothes, and just barely jiggles the clothes in the wash cycle. DO NOT buy this machine, your waisting your money, wish I had my 20 year old Maytag back that worked just fine! Wanted to get something more efficient to save water and energy,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,all I can say is it is terrible.

kenmore corvair
by: retired canuck

Paid good money like the rest of you,I also was reliant on the kenmore name. Last washer lasted 20 years. Today its all about efficeincy and all that. What a load of crap! The most basic washer for about a third of the price of these machines are the better buy hands down.If efficient means $500.00 repair bills every 2 or 3 years for these washers, you can count me out! Im debating weather to spend the gas to scrap this unit at the local dump or toss it out at the nearest Sears store. I wouldn't want to be a salesman at Sears today. He'd be better off selling pencils on the street corner

goes off balance easily
by: Anonymous

Was great the first year, but had many service calls for off balance. They never checked it with clothes in it so they could not determine the problem. Said was fine. NOT. Now here it is 4 years later and I have to babysit my machine during the 23 minute and 5-10 minute end cycles. Gets very off balance and tangles the clothes. Not happy with Sears anymore. All my appl. with them have issues and a few friends have the same troubles. No more Kenmore for us.

DO NOT BUY!
by: Anonymous

I have had the same error msg problem that others have had with no solution from Sears. Other repair companies will not even touch this machine. I have now joined the class action law suit against them, and I never thought I would ever do that with anything!

Don't buy Kenmore Elite Top Load
by: Anonymous

Do not by a Kenmore Elite Top Load. Had our for 3 years, has broken 4 times. Sears has horrible repair service. Worst purchase I've made in years. It's broken as we speak as well. Don't do it...save yourself the frustration...check out the internet on this product, it won't take you long to find others who HATE this machine.

Kenmore Elite Top Loader - problems
by: Bo Harrison

We bought this Elite top loader about 6 years ago because we have always though highly of Kenmore. We had to call the repairman twice during the warranty period to make 2 different repairs. We have had to call the repairman twice after the warranty expired to repair 2 entirely different problems. This washer is broken again as I type this review. My parents always bought Kenmore, I have always bought Kenmore, but Im going with whatever washer has the best reviews for the best price now! I refuse to call the repairman and have to pay anothere $200 or $300 to get this thing running another few months! Im used to washers lasting 12 to 15 years...I guess that was in the good old days when things were built in the USA!!!

sour smell
by: Tim Amos

this machine makes everything smell soured and does not clean as well as my old Maytag. I have changed to every detergent, left the lid open, everything Sears has recommended with no resolution. Now they are sending me something to run thru the washer to see if it will kill the moldy smell. if so i will have to buy this product for the life of the machine! I was never told any of this up front and not told of all the BAD REVIEWS this machine has!!! All my appliances are Kenmore, most of my tools are Craftsman and have no issues other than this Oasis washer / dryer set!

If Sears does not resolve the issue or exchange for another model it will be the last item I buy from them.

I would not recommend this set to anyone.

can't afford to keep getting this thing fixed
by: Anonymous

Two & Half year old and it is broken. What a piece of garbage and the Sears repairman thinks just by changing the parts will fix it. I cannot afford to keep paying for the parts each time plus the service charge. Until I find a replacement machine that is more dependable, I will not buy another Kenmore even if it is cheaper.

Very Bad MOLD smell
by: Anonymous

This machine is only a year old and we now have a bad mold smell coming from it even though we have always kept the lid open to air dry the inside of the washer. I don’t care to even think of how and what we need to do to get rid of the smell but MOLD isn’t a nice odor to have in the house. ((((angry)))) I wish we’d never had bought a Sears product like this, however the salesman told us that the top loader didn’t have the mold trouble that the front loaders have. Nice,,,,, but guess he was WRONG and wanted to make a sale.

so disaapointed
by: Anonymous

Machine began with issues at delivery, we worked through the issues and fell in love with the machine. Now after 3.75 years with the manufacturer warranty and sears extended warranty expired it the machine is down. Leaking water and the in need of a drum repair total cost $480 dollar, topping off is the comment by the repair man that since the leak caused the motor to become wet we could expect a motor repair in the near future total cost $420. His recommendation... toss it and buy new. That's what we did but how awful to spend $1000 and have a machine last 4 years. Seriously? we could have bought 2 new machine for the sam $1000. Many of friends had warned us as they returned the same machine within months of their purchase, but we loved it but it should have lasted longer.

Sears repair guys are here as we speak trying to repair it. This is the fourth time. The control panel and the control module has been replaced and it is still broken. I can't afford to keep paying for the parts.

Looking for a new washer - what to buy???
by: Anonymous

Hi there;

We are looking to replace our classic top-load washer (& dryer set), & my husband thinks we should get a newer model front load set. Most of the comments I've read on diff models, people have alot of complaints about (leaks, mold smell & goop in the door gasket, having smaller laundry items getting caught in that part, & zippers & buttons nicking away at them, having to replace large ticket parts), etc... I'm now thinking I should steer clear of these types of machines altogether, while the companies are still working the 'bugs' out of them. I've decided to look into the top loading high efficiency washers, but have noted, the main bearings on these seem to be unable to handle the weight of the wet clothes, going at 1000 or more rpm's (during the spin cycle) atleast, & after an average of 28 months, that part breaks & are an atrocious cost to replace, as well (as these machines are relavitely new as well). It would seem, they have discontinued some models & are hopefully redesigning these, for the better. My husband says, people generally write when they are unhappy with their purchases, & there may be many more people that are quite pleased with theirs (which sounds reasonable), but I've almost come to the decision to replace the timer on my 'classic' top-load washer & wait a little longer to replace it, & keep reading the reviews, until I feel better about replacing my set with a newer design.

I've put my comment in here, as I was hoping to see a review on this newer Kenmore Oasis top load 'h-e' set...

Thank you for your time, hope to see more comments soon...
