Product Overview

Bosch's collection of Nexxt Series washers is designed to provide customers with cutting-edge washing machine technology that is both energy efficient and effective in washing clothes. In fact, Bosch washing machines are so efficient that they use over 70% less energy and water than most conventional washers that are top-loading.

The Bosch WFMC1001UC even has the Energy Star seal, which means that it meets the standards for energy efficient appliances. Ithas a load capacity of 3.81 cubic feet, allowing it to handle large loads in a cinch. The side-loading design helps to save water and is generally more convenient than a top-loading washer. What makes this washer even more easy to use is the drum that is tilted at an incline, and this makes it easier for anyone to get the clothes after each wash.

There are also a good variety of options such as the six cycles and three optional settings that can be adjusted for the perfect wash. Here are other advanced features of the Bosch WFMC1001UC:

100 Series Nexxt Washer Quietness

Other people in the house may have had a hard time sleeping or entertaining guests because the washing machine is shaking about and causing a racket.

Fortunately, the Bosch WFMC1001UC is highly rated as a smooth and quiet operator. Operating at only 58 decibels, users don't have to worry much about this washer causing any problems with noise. The washing system is specifically designed to reduce the noise and vibration generated by the washer.

Sensotronic Plus

The Sensotronic Plus technology makes use of numerous sensors to analyze and monitor the wash cycle. The sensors are able to gather data on the temperature and load size. This information is then used to adjust the settings for a more efficient wash.

Archie Paddles

The Archie Paddles technology makes use of fin-like paddles to cascade and disperse water above the clothes. This helps to give a more thorough wash by washing suds away, while being gentle on clothes. As clothes spin in the inclined drum, they get gentle but complete wash. The drum's spin speed is rated at 800 rotations per minute.

Advantages

Perhaps the one of the best reasons to invest in Bosch WFMC1001UC is its energy and water efficiency. Many consumers were able to save more money from their water and electricity. It also helps that doing their laundry doesn't cause as much harm to the environment. With the “Good Housekeeping Seal,” consumers also commend the quality and durability of this home appliance.

Some also cited the options and settings to be really useful in getting the best wash for their articles of clothing. Bosch WFMC1001UC is also relatively cheaper than other brands. For many people, this means that they can get a washing machine with many of the leading technologies without burning a hole in their pockets.

sad face

Disadvantages

Many consumers have noticed that the Bosch WFMC1001UC does not have as many features as some of the other types of washing machines in the market. This won't necessarily be a problem for those who are used to the simplicity and straightforward nature of most traditional laundering machines, but for those who are looking for flexibility.

Although this washing machine has a relatively low price for what it has to offer, some consumers may still find it to be a bit expensive. Another disadvantage of using the Bosch WFMC1001UC is that it can take quite a long time to finish a cycle. One load can take over one hour and 30 minutes, and it doesn't have a display of how much longer it will take the load to finish. Higher Bosch Nexxt models do have a timer that displays the time remaining for each cycle.

Final Thought

The Bosch WFMC1001UC does have a few hiccups, such as long cycles, but its efficiency and effectiveness make up for the negative aspects. With a two-year limited-warranty, users don't have to worry too much about covering all of the expenses if the washing machine breaks down. Simplicity, convenience, and ease of use--it is easy to see why so many people like this durable washer.

Anyone who wants to get good value for money should look into getting the dependable Bosch WFMC1001UC.

Horrible Gasket
by: Renee

If I knew then what I know now, I would have NEVER brought a front loading washing machine...but 4 years ago when I needed a new washer, I thought why not buy one of the new style washers being advertised everywhere. Well, a new style does not mean a "better" washer. The rubber gasket is horrible!!!!! I have even used bleach directly on the gasket, and I tried several other things on it, too that typically remove mold and mildew with no problem ...but nothing worked at all. And always having to leave the door open meaning I cannot close the door to my laundry area drives me crazy but I do it so the washer won't stink. The 1 thing I like about this washer is larger items can be washed in it but that is about it. The things I do not like far out way that 1 thing. I sure wish I had decided on getting another top loading machine 4 years. :(

This washer is JUNK! It takes forever to wash even a small load and after just a couple years the SPIN CYCLE won't operate. It drains the water, and clicks as though it is spinning, but the drum does not move. I can move it by hand, but won't function as it should. STAY AWAY...

Nexxt 100 UGH!
by: C. Woods

I've"TOLLERATED",this thing for 3 years. Three long years. Plan on an entire day of doing clothes if you have any more than 2 loads of wash. An hour and a half is way to long for any machine. After 10 minutes it beeps, the machine's "wonderful" sensors make every load unbalanced, whether it's 2 pieces, or 10 pieces of clothes. This means you have to reset it EVERY time! If I had the money I'd take a hammer to it and buy a top loader again.

Bosch NEXXT 100 Series Washer
by: Anonymous

Bought this Bosch 2 years ago and it was the worst appliance I have ever purchased. First time I used it it leaked from the door. Grants Appliance in Chicagoland area had nobody to fix it and had to have a Bosch repairman come out to replace the gasket. Result? Still leaks to this day. Also since day one there has been more times than not where it won't do the final spin cycle. I really don't think 2 sheets are overloading the washer nor is a normal load of clothes. I have to do the manual spin cycle 1, 2 or 3 times for it to finally spin. Talk about a waste of time! Hopefully, this washer will die soon so I can replace it with something other than a Bosch washer. My Bosch dishwasher is great though!

It leaks, it's slower than a horse and buggy taking a cross country trip, and if the load is not big enough the clothes are dripping wet.

$800 for 3 to 4 years of service
by: Dave from Covington

This washer worked for 3 1/2 years before dieing
It seemed to clean the clothes espically after putting TSP back into the detergent. (EPA strikes again)

My wife said it took a long time to wash and her $75 used old commerical washer top loader go the clothes cleaner, but it used less water.

It died last week, and there is no troubleshooting or Service manual to be found.
Bosch will not sell you any info, you must go through a tech. They will come out and tell you for the price you can buy a new washer.

So our next washer will be a used old washer with no electronics, or a used one, and it will not be a front loader

I just replaced this washer after 3 years of service, as it stopped spinning and filling. Got two 300-500$ estimates to repair. This is actually a GOOD thing as it all my RUINED all white clothes! This is the worst washer i have ever used! So little water it made all the clothes smell, turn brown, horrible horrible! i was convinced it was me doing something wrong. This expensive machine is now in the junkyard. Happy to report my new LG is amazing, even brought my whites back to life! Thank you LG for the nice washer that lights up like a spaceship, super cleans the clothes and sings a pretty song at the end of cycle..no more of the BEEP BEEP BEEP, so annoying bosch. Did I mention the MOLD all over front gasket that was uncleanable? UGH

Frustrating !!!
by: Rosalind Shirley

We bought a Bosh washer/dryer in February, 2006. Fortunately, we purchased a service agreement on both appliances! The dryer has been serviced 4 times. The service man was here July 12 to service the washer and we are now waiting for a part that is back ordered until August 23. I am a caregiver for my 74 year old husband who is a stroke patient, wheelchair bound. I have expressed several times that this is an emergency situation because I do so much wash, but no one seems to really care. As soon as my extended warrantry expires, I will purchase a more dependable set of appliances. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!

Scheisse Bosch Washers
by: Anonymous

Bosch washer is the worst possible washer one can buy. Three years old and a control board is shot. The machine simply will not spin anymore. repair cost 50% of new machine. Feel very bad about having to put the thing out with the garbage. Also wonder if the whole machine can be bought for abot $750 why a simple part has to cost $250.- not counting the labor yet to install it. Minimum cost for a repair man to come to the door is $100.- No more German scheisse for me. Just had some simple reparts replaced for my VW beetle, cost about $1,000 Part was not in stock, had to pay for ecpedited shipping!! How is that for service?

Bosch doesn't listen
by: qsl1

The Bosch Nexxt 100 is a piece of garbage I purchased from Lowe's. The washer stops constantly even after tremendous effort in balancing the machine. The balancing screws eventually became stripped because the machine never stays balanced. The rubber seal becomes moldy and is extremely difficult to clean out. We have decided after three years of fighting with our laundry to get a new machine.

Pump is shot
by: JC-Atl

3 years old and the pump is shot - $250 repair. I finally found a good resource online that has numerous posts about the pump filter being clogged by errant socks/jewelry etc, but manual is no help at all in troubleshooting or fixing anything. Just afraid of what's around the corner, won't do another costly repair - hopefully it will last another 3 years. We use low amount of soap and air it out after runs so mold smell is only just noticeable after a run, still, Not happy with the unit for a $750 machine.

Horrible Machine
by: Anonymous

Don't buy this washer!! Repairman recommended it to us when our Kenmore front-loader broke beyond repair, saying it has a great repair record. This washer doesn't fit as much in the bin as is advertised (3 towels and a few shirts is the max per load); it doesn't clean well; we've had cycles last upwards of 2 hours before finishing if you accidently put in too much soap. Now, 2 years later, our clothes often come out with a moldy smell. Until the tub on it broke after 5 years of use (a fluke) we never, ever had trouble with our Kenmore machine. Clothes were clean, cycles were short. As soon as we can afford it we are dumping this piece of trash and going back to a Kenmore.

This is the worst washing mashine I have ever used. Lots of mold and stinky clothes. Also keep getting clothes ruined because stains do not come out, just transfer to the next garmet because not enough water in drum. Even have problems with bleach stains from one load transferring to the next load!!

Worst appliance purchase I have made. Have used great front loaders in Europe without these problems.

I spent way too much for this washer that takes forever to go through a cycle. I was impressed with the "efficiency" ratings but, honestly, how efficient is it to have a load take over an hour to run? It certainly isn't an efficient use of our time. I bought it at Lowes and they say that they cannot take it back as a trade in or help me out with my washer problems. What I am is "Stuck"

Better buy extended warranty with this one.
by: Anonymous

Where to start. Purched washer and dryer July 2007. Bought 5 year warranty from Lowes.
Mildew from jumpstreet in the washer. Better buy a 55 gallon jug of bleach to get rid of the mildew or you will smell like mildew!!!
The washer stopped working 27 month after purchase. Technician came in and ordered a control board. (PS I priced it on line and it is $354.00)
7 days later the dryer quit heating. Techincian came back to replace the circuit board and check the dryer.
Here is where it gets crazy...The control board will not work. Bosch reconfigured the wiring harness and no instructions on a fix???
Technician could not fix washer. Ordered heating element for dryer. (PS the heating element goes in from the back)
Another week passes..technician came back to fix dryer. DO NOT LET HIM TAKE FRONT OFF THIS DRYER. THE HEATING ELEMENT GOES IN FROM THE BACK!!Took us 2 hours to reassemble the front!
Another week passes..get a call from Lowes Warranty.. Washer not fixable and they sending me a Lowes gift card for the purchase and taxes!!!
PS. Technician left a brand new control panel when he left. This control is $354.00.
Talk about a wast. Taking unit to the landfill over the wrong control panel!!

Best Washer
by: Anonymous

My husband got me this washer about 3 years ago. It does take a long time per load but has never given us any problems that were not expected with a front loader.

Yes, the front seal gets mildew from time to time. Vinegar takes care of it. So does Lysol. It is also easily prevented by leaving the door open until the seal dries.

Am eagerly awaiting the dryer that matches as this is the best washer I have ever used.

This washer is horrible, I hated it from the first time I used it! Wish I would of returned it. Should of just bought a simple top loader, so much easier and you don't have to worry about having mold/mildew in the door seal and all your baby socks etc getting stuck in the seal... It stinks and I can't clean it enough with clorox but the mold is still there. Sucks to say going to put it to the curb only after 1 year.. what a waste of money!

This is one of the worst appliances I have ever bought. I wish I'd looked at user reviews first. It takes forever to do a load of clothes (always well over an hour), they often don't spin well, and the thing stinks to high heaven.

I've run bleach through it with no clothes, I leave the door open, I've cleaned the insides...the clothes come out smelling musty and gross. I'm going to just get a top loader like I've had for years before and junk this disaster. What a waste of money!

don't use too much soap
by: Anonymous

The problem the others are having is the problem I first had when I used it and after calling customer service - they helped me realize that if you use too much soap - it will have to run through another cycle - because it detects there is too much soap and it will leave your clothes too wet at the end of the cycle. As long as you put in less soap to begin with - you shouldn't have the problem these other 1 star people commented - I hope they realize this before they get rid of the machine.

It does take longer to wash a load compared to my top loader but it holds more clothes. My clothes come out smelling great! You do have to leave the door cracked in order to let it dry so it doesn't mildew but that's with all frontloaders. Great washer for the price.

I wasted my $800
by: Patty

I bought this washer in January of 2008 because it had the JD Power seal of recommendation. I am not happy at all with this washer. It constantly goes off balance (I guess)and leaves my clothes weighing about 100 pounds with all the water left on them because it will not spin fast enough at the end of the wash cycle.

The white clothes never come clean or white as they did in my old top loader. I don't like the idea that the water amount in the drum is designed on the weight of the clothes that you put in, to me there is never enough water to wash the clothes.

I have even resoaked whites in a utility sink after washing them in the Bosch and the water in the sink is disgusting. This tells me that this washer does not do the job effectively.

I feel that I wasted my $800 and would have better off with a Sears Kenmore for less money. I would not recommend this to anyone.

hate this machine
by: Anonymous

We bought our front load washing machine in Jan.2007. I hate this washing machine. It makes me sick that we spent so much for this machine. I feel like we got ripped off. It's no good!!!!!!! It belongs in a junk yard. It smells bad, it's moldy around the seal, it gets gunk around and up under the seal. You have to clean it every time you use it, and it still smells bad.

You can't put anything white in it because it will come out dingy. It doesn't always spin the water out of your clothes. Some times they are ringing wet with water. You spin them again and it may or may not work. It doesn't rinse the soap out. There is not one thing positive that I can say about this machine. I regret ever buying it and wish I could send it back.
