SteamFast Compact Fabric Steamer - SF-435W
The SteamFast Compact Steamer is great! It is small and lightweight which is a plus for storage since I am living in an apartment with limited room. I can store it under my bathroom sink and pull it out quickly to steam garments and freshen linens. The SteamFast Compact Steamer also heats up quickly. Within minutes the steamer is ready to go. I hang clothing on a hanger and quickly press items that would take so much more time to press with a conventional iron. Plus, there is no need to pull out an ironing board. Wrinkles disappear so fast! This model is really inexpensive compared to larger ones. It is great for the budget conscious shopper. It is also great for traveling since the unit is small. There are a couple of features that are bothersome. The water chamber boils water to create the steam. The chamber stops boiling intermittently. I am guessing this is necessary so that the unit does not over heat. When the unit goes to a stop for boiling, you cannot steam your clothes since no steam is forced out of the unit. You have to wait for the unit to start boiling again in order to use the steamer. This process only takes a few seconds though. You don't have to wait long for the steam to start. It is just annoying because you are trying to finish the garment. The other thing about this steamer that is somewhat of an issue is the size of the water chamber. It holds only 7 ounces of water. In order to steam many garments, you may need to refill the chamber and wait for the boiling process to start again. Despite these minor irritations, the steamer still beats old fashion ironing hands down! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good little, handy steamer. I would rate the SteamFast Compact Steamer 4 out of 5 possible rating points with 5 being the highest Pros - heats up quickly - it can remove all the wrinkles from the garments within a few seconds Cons - water chamber stops boiling intermittently, unable to steam continuously - size of the water chamber is small Rating 4 out of 5
