Best washing Machine

Best washing Machine

In July 2008, my father had gifted a LG washing machine to my mom as her birthday gift.

My mom suffers from arthritis due to this she was unable to wash our cloths.

As we told her that not to wash our cloths but she refused all our arguments.

When my father gifted the washing machine to her she became emotional and hugged my father.
And now we are using this washing machine, its performance is best.

As we are using other products of LG as dishwasher, cell phones, plasma T.V., TFT monitors and many more. And the washing machine is our latest product of LG we bought.

It's a front load washing machine with 7 washing programs. Rust free stainless steel drum about 3.32 cubic feet IEC, 1200 RPM powerful spin for efficient water extraction, 6 temperature levels, roller jets and forced water circulation, it delays the washing by 12 hours. Any many more high quality features.

Its doors are chrome rimmed with clear glasses. Its design and style is so adorable. In market only one color i.e. white is available. Maximum loading capacity is 10 kg. Includes some special programs i.e. pre-wash, normal and quick wash, hand wash, cotton and delicate. There?s a child security. Electronic control panel with Dial-A-Cycle.

It costs us about $949.00. It consumes low electricity and water. It saves as much as, our electricity and water supply charges. I will recommend this product and off course all the products of LG as healthy and wealthy products. Healthy because it saves our energy which we loosed while working without these products.

Now, some words from my mom for LG washing machine. She said that,? this is one of the best product of LG to which I have used among other products and I will always use this washing machine and prefer this to my all relatives to buy this product to save their money and energy?. I would like to thanks LG for producing these types of products.

And in future I will buy more products of LG it may be a washing machine to which I will gift it to my wife.

Less Than 3 Years
by: Rich

We purchased this unit almost three years ago, and for the most part we have been relatively happy with it. Except for the clean-out, which is, understandably,at the front bottom of the machine. Have some towels ready, because it will release quite a bit of water when opened.
Oh yea, one other thing, during the last load's spin cycle-it started squeaking, then grinding and smelling like it was on fire. This happened within the time I could walk 25 feet to the unit to shut it off. By the time I got to the unit, it shut itself off. We had a repair person come out, recommended by LG, and they wanted to charge $180 for a "noise reducer" just so they could get power to the panel so they could see if that came on, if not it would cost "somewhere around $200 to replace" the panel so we could start the unit to see if there was an issue with the motor $200 more to replace). I asked the tech if the back of the unit could be opened so we could look at the motor. When the back was removed I noticed a large bolt on the bottom of the unit. The tech said they "never saw that happen before". So, diagnostic is the bolt came out and caused the unit to overheat and fry the electrical. And they can fix it for "somewhere around $600". I'm shopping for a new unit, and believe me, it won't be an LG. My parents had a Kenmore for over 15 years, maybe I should check them out.

constant money pit
by: Jean Tillman

This machine is the worst machine I have ever bought. We spent over $800.00 on this machine and the dryer was almost another $800.00. The company LG has done nothing for us, Home depot has also been very unhelpful. I will never buy another LG again or any appliance from Home Depot.

I have had this machine fixed twice since I bought it in 2009 and it still does not work. It is a constant money pit and since LG and Home Depot have my money they will not even help at all. I have kids, we both work full time and the polite way to say this is this company sucks! Your product sucks and you suck and I will continue to advise any friends, family and co-workers until you go out of business!

Life is not good with LG!
by: Anonymous

Life sucks with LG. What a big waste of money. My used Kenmores lasted 25 years and these machines are barely 4 years old and have to be replaced. It would cost more than $1000 to repair washer and dryer, $850 for washer and $250 for dryer. Leaks in washer caused it to rust under back panel and now it sounds like a plane ready for take off and it doesn't spin. The dryer sounds like a rikkety old lawnmower. The noise is unbearable. Do not invest in these machines. Besides, when they worked, clothes were not cleaned well and many times smelled like mildew.

The worst there is! No water!
by: Bev

We have had this washer for over a yr now. Our clothes do not get clean. I have shirts that roll up into a ball and the center is completely dry! Towels are the worst. Use very little soap; don't get clean. Use more soap; kinda gets clean but must run through another 4 cycles to get the soap out. Who has time to take 4 hours on load?

I am going to try what Mr. Fix Anything suggested. If it does't work and breaks the washer so be it! This piece of * is out the door anyway.

I too called the help line and was told "It must be something I was doing wrong." RECALL PLEASE!!
Take note LG - I will buy no more LG products.

No SPIN
by: Anonymous

I agree with anonymous. I have same issue with this piece of crap. We know what is wrong and what is happening and LG will not stand behind this appliance. I will never buy LG again. The rotor has a plastic insert that gets stripped from the metal pin and the washer stops spinning. No spin cycle. We were told with original repair the facility didn't tighten the nut. Well i guess then the repair man did the same. Piece of crap.

Worst Washer Ever!
by: Anonymous

The service repair man just left my house and I am in total shock. My 2009 wm0642h* just stopped spinning out of nowhere. I reset the machine by unplugging it for a while and plugging it back in, did not help. I called LG and was told of course my unit is out of warranty, they referred me to a couple of authorized service centers who wanted 100.00 just to come out and diagnose the problem.
I found another appliance repair group in the phone book and they came out. It appears the piece that went bad is going to cost me 325.00 not including the labor.. I am so disheartened, I saved up to buy this washer thinking it was the best thing since there were so many good things written about it at the time. Now I see all these complaints and that the model has been discontinued. The service guy said he never really sees this part go out in LG, I must have just gotten a lemon. Only thing is, he said it could go out again, I am thinking of ditching this 700.00 nightmare and getting a regular ole washing machine. My last to loader cost me 300.00 and lasted 12 years. With all the problems people are having, and the fact LG has discontinued this model there should be a recall done on this washer!!

View the Roto-Spray Wash Stream!Info:
by: Dalgit Dalrwall

Finally a person on Youtube has posted the Lady Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combination.A visual of what the other posts writers here have commented on about a Forcefull Water Spray system directed onto tumbling clothing. Now everybody can see for themselves what we mean by "Roto-Spray" wash water stream. That machine could clean some of the dirtiest of clothing without having to run so very long .It was posted on Youtube videos by "revvinkev". Lady Kenmore Washer Dryer Combination. Why on earth couldn't LG or another manufacturer put this kind of recirculation spray system in their front load washers? LG had come so close, and dropped the ball.Putting in some weak sprinkler drizzle, then discontinuing it later. What a joke! If they had proceeded whis design they would be hauling in the cash. People want to see water going through their laundry! With this, I don't need steam or special tumbling styles.I grew up with this kind of washer and it was a Gem and fun to watch too. Model#110.6709701.I would easily pay 2 Grand if someone would make a Front Load,Full Size Rear Controls Washer with this kind of Recirculation Roto Spray wash action. No more, where is the water? Like others have asked here about their front load washing machines. This was a welcome revisit to my memories of doing laundry as a kid with my mother, who is gone now.So is the Kenmore Wash n Dryer Combination but maybe someone will manufacture one again soon? We'll see.

Beware of shock absorber pins moving out.
by: Canay Davies

I simply do not like this LG WM0642HW washing machine. It's barely two years old now and i had to make a service call a few day's ago because the cycles were taking longer and longer to complete. It turns out one of the suspension shock securing pins had worked itself out leaving one shock absorber completely unattached to the tub.Making the load difficult to balance, which was making the cycle time excessively long.A bit under $100.00 for the service call ,part and labor.I watched the repairman open it up. I was surprised it's all plastic. The pin was even plastic.Just some brittle junk to crack and fall apart. The tooth that holds the pin in place was broken off another one was broken but it was still in place. The washer uses too little water. After reading what others have written here it is true 90% of what you are reading about this washer.I made a regrettable purchase buying this particular model.

Fading Grace LG WM0642 Let Down!
by: Johnathan Elias

This(2009)LG WM0642HW is ok.The negatives are that it takes too long to do a load of laundry. The balancing detection & correction system uses up alot of time.Attempting to spin over & over.I cancelled the (Spinsense) hoping it might ramp up & spin without so many load redistributions. So it would hurry up & finish. It still takes the same amount of time. Especially around the 10 minutes remaining mark. You check,&check if it's done yet it's still balancing & dropping spins. What else i've found to be annoying.I select Hot water temp for the wash. But every time i feel inside the cylinder the water is barely warm. That's why the whites are dingy & the stuff smells. I'm forced to use the Sanitary cycle if i want HOT water. That cycle takes alot of time & energy for the heating element. 1000 watts for over an hour of heating! Wasteful of electric energy & time because I HAVE "HOT WATER" SITTING IN MY WATER HEATER TANK READY TO GO!If this "Blasted" machine would Fill Up with some reasonable amount of water i wouldn't need to use the Sanitary heater cycle. The only cycle that the heating element works in. No regulating of the water temperature in other cycles. It spends the first minute at the start filling up with Cold water valve energized flowing water through the pre wash dispenser side when i've selected HOT!And i'm "NOT" talking about the Prewash button Lit Up on the control panel.I'm talking directly going into wash cycle. When the Hot water valve does energize on the wash detergent cup of the dispenser, the laundry is almost fully saturated. The machine is ready to stop filling up. The water then in cylinder is barely warm. Several degrees lower from being what one would consider to be a Hot water wash.I don't like Speedwash/Quick wash because it Does Not Spin after wash&rinse segments.Only drains, one final spin at the end.Not even a low speed ramp up to pull wash and rinse water out of the load.I regularly set it on Speed Wash for constant tumbling
& have to reset it for spins after the Speed Wash, wash segment is over.I really don't like this machine. If LG engineering had installed in this washer a powerful recirculating, filtered, water spray nozzle opening inside the cylinder, spraying water against tumbling clothing with the SAME FLOW RATE FORCE as the DISCHARGE DRAIN HOSE FLOW RATE. The laundry load would come out at the end of the cycle immaculate. Talk about powering out dirt and stains. Also, if the user didn't want to use the recirculating spray for a particualr cycle, let's say delicates for example? They could press a button to bypass the recirculating spray wash pump system. What a great idea now that i think about it? Who want's to see their laundry rolling in a couple of cups of tepid clay gray water for a long time.I guess we'll have to wait and see what is developed down the line.Who on earth did LG consult with when they were programming the controls and features on this machine? Heaven help those who really have dirty clothes.

Save 10 gallons of water but need 10 more?
by: Frank Zincavage

I was all excited over my new LG WM0642HW washer. As the weeks turned into months, my wardrobe gradually became more worn looking.Dingy whites, black clothing that no longer looked a sharp black, but a hazy fuzzy black worn out look. I came to realize that my washer wasn't getting things very clean.

I was so transfixed over the high spin, big window etc at first, and gave rave reviews like others during the first several months. Then i noticed a change in things. Truth be told now, it's a 2009 model and rust is forming around the underside edges of the dispenser area. It's only a year old. Rust already?I also most strongly believe that i made a terrible mistake buying a low water HE machine. There just simply isn't enough water inside for it to clean very well.I'm restricted to using the requested amounts of HE detergent and if i use more, it just won't be rinsed out.I know everyone says you can clean a full load with minimal water use,but maybe i'm missing something because it's not working out for me very well at all. I've read everything carefully in the manual and detergent supplies but my laundry still does not smell or look really clean. It almost makes me want to go back to the ol,rubboard and a bar of soap sometimes.

my story ....
by: Benjamin Bossi

Here is my story on this washer.I purchased this washer about a year and a half ago after much time researching on the computer and at appliance stores.

It was a choice between the Kenmore Rear Controls Frontloader or the LG WM0642HW.The reason i went with the LG was for the Forced Water Recirculation spray nozzle that the Kenmore did not have.Well after delivery and a long battle with LG i found out that the LG WM0642HW was now being made without the Forced Water Recirculation feature. (Discontinued)

That was a huge blow because if i had known i could of saved a couple of hundred bucks and bought the Kenmore model that was designed like the LG in styling, motor, detergent dispenser, etc.The washer never did well with a full load. There were dry patches towards the front of the laundry load that never got wet until several minutes of the wash cycle had passed.

I don't understand how the LG designers would take a front load design that would automatically use less water than a top loader, then reduce the tub water level even lower, and then finish it off by removing the Forced Water Recirculation nozzle and pump system so that the laundry isn't saturated until the wash portion is almost over.Suppose the dry portion was a stain area. To make a long story short, and now that a portion of the washers warranty has expired.

I found out on someones post here how to slightly raise the water fill set point by turning clockwise the water level switch set screw under the washer cabinet lid cover. I was alittle hesitant about tampering with it's internal components, but i'd had just about enough of it's terrible washing performance, super long cycle times, and no longer really cared about the warranty or anything. The washer just wasn't doing the job and i was at the point of searching for another model now that i've saved up some money.

I've decided to hold off buying a new washer for now because the higher fill level adjustment i made seems to be working. My laundry is now being washed the way i believe it should be.In a puddle of water and not a pint. I don't know what the long term effects of raising the water level will do to my washer.Don't really care, because how it was operating before, it was on it's way to a donation center, reclycling plant, or something! Because it didn't clean well. Now it's much better with the extra water inside.

At least now i can wash laundry and feel reasonably secure that i will no longer be disappointed with the end of cycle results.

WM0642HW Look Deep Before You Leap!
by: Terry Bozzio

I like my LG WM0642HW washer but not in the beginning. Because i've always loved washers picking this one was was a carefully planned choice. But what i got was not what i expected. Here's the reason.Years ago when you went to Sears or other retailers there were WORKING DISPLAY MODELS of high end appliances.I remember the Kenmore Dual Action Agitator, and the Maytag Transmission, see through dishwashers to see their special functions.Today you don't see those things.Yes,i've seen the videos playing of the top appliances with ANNIMATION, but it's not the same.Phrases like Jet Wash,Direct Inject, Rainfall, etc. But their description of what they do and when is vague.Does it go the entire cycle or only a portion? The heater in my machine. When i saw the flyer it didn't say only one cycle it operates in.On the LG web site when i was researching before purchasing my washer.

It indicated my model has a Tub Light. No tub light was on it.It also read Forced Water Recirculation Shower Spray. No shower spray.LG said we don't put that in our new WM0642HW anymore. They said the display model i saw in the store was an earlier model. My question to them was, why then didn't you change the model # to another so consumers would know what you see here is not what's going to be delivered because of a design change? I got no answer to that one.Let's go to the door.A nice big window and it's dark in the cylinder and 1 quart of water slanted towards the back.

Well heck, you might as well not of put a window in to begin with.Does the Maytag Neptune washer with no window ring a bell?I only got some satisfaction when i turned clockwise the water level sensor set screw under the top lid of the machine. At least now i see some water splashing around and rushing over my clothing. They do seem much cleaner than before.

I'll just have to hold a flashlight to the glass if i want to see the action inside.Come on LG, and shape up a bit with your control designs and consistancy with the model specifications.

LG WM0642HW-Whole-lot-of Hype!
by: Reveen Narrian

Now that i've had this washer for two years and have seen all it can do and can't.I've realized that i too have bought into all of the unnessary cycles and glitz about this washer. First of all, why in the world, "if i had been thinking" would i want to run my washer almost 2 hours for a sanitary cycle.Using electricity for a 1000 watt heating element when a cup of Clorox bleach can sanitize everything in minutes, would ease the wear and tear on my clothing and machine, plus help to keep mold away in the washer. Are the majority of people going around that unclean? Good Grief! If i had a personal accident ,and i hope i don't,I sure as heck wouldn't put it in my washing machine. I'd just bag it up and throw it away if it was enough for me to be uncomfortable and have to take immediate action. I'd then try to do a better job controlling myself next time. I grew up with the Sears Kenmore Wash n Dryer Combination Front Loader in the 1970s and i don't remember my mother going through all of this.LG fooled people by removing the FORCED WATER RECIRCULATION SPRAY NOZZLE from this model "quietly" and people were thinking the spray system was in the ROLLER-JETS baffels in the cylinder. Those baffels don't spray anything because there is hardly any water in the cylinder to begin with .What you might see is a TABLESPOON of water trickle out on one spot of clothing when the cylinder pauses. The manual talks about all the options you have.Yeah! Your option to have it tumble forever and a day to help wear the unit out. Or have it unknowingly at first, that your washer will skip much needed spins if you use the Speed Wash, or Quick Wash cycle. I would have thought there would at least be some kind of quick low speed intermediate spin to pull water out of laundry. But it only does an idle drain.I washed a comforter in it.It slowly absorbed water like a sponge and just when it became fully saturated the machine wash portion ran out and it drained. What i had was a comforter mess, and had to finish the job at the laundrymat.I should of settled on that Sears Kenmore Rear Controls Front Loader that was similar to the LG WM0642HW.The Kenmore doesn't have that Tilt Tub and maybe then water would be spread level all the way across the cylinder back to front, instead of 4 cups of water slanted towards the back of the cylinder as in the LG washer. I also could of saved a couple of hundred bucks.I just wish the manufacturers would simplify things by putting in a timer controls, rear console with a Super Wash,14,12,10 with 2 or the option for 3 rinses.I want to tumble my laundry in some soap & "WATER" and spin them out. Also a recirculating detergent dispenser with a filter like our Kenmore Combo had with a (ROTO-SPRAY WASH WATER STREAM)so my laundry will tumble through some water. That's my two cents and i hope one comes along soon.

turn the water on and it works fine
by: Debbie Ann Harry

I cannot express enough how important this washer needs to be able to operate with alittle more water to tumble in, than what has been the preset stop set point for fill at the factory because of water restriction regulations for manufacturers of washers. Just a slight turn of the water level switch under the lid will provide your washer with enough water to throughly mix detergent that will flow over clothing and fully saturate everything at the "START" of the cycle and not towards the end. This method of "WICKING" up water and then spinning at high speed just presses dirt deep into fabrics.Let's say you have a towel with dried mud or simply dusty, and you now saturate the towel with just enough water for it to be wet ,no extra except maybe a cup. You then tumble that towel in that concentrated cup of dirty water ,then you spin it really fast pressing the muddy water deep in the fabric fibers. For the rinse you add just enough water for it to wick up until wet only, and then spin really fast. What you end up with is a dirty towel that hasn't been rinsed throughly in a pool of water ,that is almost dry with the dirt pressed deeply in it.Now put that in the dryer and bake it in for 30 minutes and presto you're done! What you'll have is a dirty towel ,and that what people are complaining about.

You used all that eletricity and time lost and you still have dirty laundry. Now you have to decide if you wan't to do it all over again to rewash? If it had just filled up properly the first time a rewash probably wouldn't be needed. When i raised that water level in that washer so it could fill and tumble in a puddle of water to the lower glass edge instead of just filling to the edge of the interior cylinder baffels, what a difference that adjustment made.I honestly have not had to rewash anything and my clothing is rinsed in water the way i want and not wick rinsed.Overnight and my complaints about this washer have stopped with that little adjustment to the water level switch.I don't have anything else to complain about.

All i ever wanted was for the machine from the beginning to tumble in some water.I can now focus on other things instead of the washing machine. Good luck folks!

now happy with my machine
by: Debora Iyall

I bought this LG WM0642HW about a year ago. All along i knew it wasn't cleaning the right way. From day one i been asking ( WHERE'S THE WATER ? )" WHERE'S THE WATER"! I'd just given up on washing full loads because it just did not get clean, and have been washing 1/2 loads for the last several months. My husband read on this forum about turning the water level switch. He tried it a few days ago and bless his heart, i could not be happier.

My washer is washing my clothes like my old 1980s White Westinghouse load a door front loader. My laundry is comming out clean. I'm still in shock.I had called LG earlier on, but i didn't get much help except that i must be doing something wrong.Bless my husband and the helpful people on this website for finding out how to get more water in my washer.

WM0642HW is cleaning laundry better!
by: Chuck J.

I've did that water level adjustment trick that i read here on my (2009)LG WM0642HW washer .Would you believe it does work better than before .I feel secure in using a shorter cycle wash time. I just happened to come across this and later going over my laundry and smelling my things. They really were not getting clean. My washer now works more like the ones i see at the laundrymat. Tumbling is a pool of water at the lower door edge, where as before i didn't really see water at all except wet clothes rubbing against each other. I once tried to wash a comforter like the machine says it can ,but it came out awful. With this new water level adjustment, i just may try to start washing them again.Possibly now, they'll get wet and washed, instead of wicking water as it did before. Thank you water level tipster. WM0642HW Water Level Switch Set Screw
by: Sean Stan

I just want to give a heartfelt Thanks to Mr.Fix Anything on his tip on how to raise the water level in the LG WM0642HW washer. For the last two years i've been trying to find out how to do this and you would think LG would of been helpful, but i was just given every excuse in the book about how nothing could be done too bad so sad.All of the frustration i've gone through with clothes still smelling, haze buildup and all along there was a small screw on top of the water level switchunder the lid and no one could help me.All of the complaints i've read over the last two years from others having to micro manage everything, pretreat, poor rinseing etc. It's sad that the owners of these washers have to go through all this over about 5 or so gallons of water. With the adjusted water level setting now my laundry is clean. No arm pits in shirts still smelling.I'm so grateful Mr.Fix Anything for you tip.Out of the hundreds of things i've read over the two years, yours was the only one who told me how to do it, and where the switch was located. Thank You so much. Sincerely, Sean Stan.

poor cleaning
by: Sean M.

After several months of my LG WM0642HW with no forced water recirculation spray feature in the door seal, because it was discontinued, and the washers

poor cleaning results unless it washes for a VERY long time or a small load.I've decided to slightly increase the air tube length by about 2 inches or maybe 2 1/2 inches. So far, it fills now up to about 1/2 inch below the steel cylinder edge where as before it was 4 inches lower and you'd have to look really hard to see any puddle of water in the cylinder at all .The main thing i wanted was to make sure it could drain the cylinder during the initial drain portion and not effect the balancing and after wash & spin plastering. When i made the air tube about 3 inches or so in length longer, the water level was about 2 inches above the bottom edge of the door seal and window.Too high! I don't want the water level to reach above the top of the lower door seal edge. Also the initial pumping time did not empty the tub completely before trying to plaster when the air tube was 3 inches or so longer. So i shortned the air tube length about a 1/2 inch or so.I feel so proud of myself because i now see water flowing over my clothing and mixing my expensive detergent & no dry spots on laundry several minutes into the wash cycle with the machine still adding cups of water at a time. I'm not a water hog. But i want my laundry clean the first go around and not have the wash portion alone be almost an hour. I had to figure this problem out on my own and i couldn't be more pleased now.The rinse water level is at the door seal edge but not above it, so i can still open the door without flooding if necessary.Water flowing over my laundry was all i wanted from the very beginning, and now i have that .I also felt the motor after washing a large load worried about it straining but as long as the cylinder drains completely during that first 1 minute drain segment before any plastering takes place, you'll be fine.

But be certain machine can drain the cylinder of all or just the tiniest ammount of water during the first drain segment which is around 1/2 or 1 minute. There are other drain segments to follow but i don't want water still in cylinder when it's trying to balance and plaster.I don't want to put that extra strain on the motor unnessarily or trip an overload code. This should bring an end to me having to rewash loads because they didn't get clean the first time.Good Luck!

Don't Lengthen Air PressureTube!
by: Sean Stan

I at first suggested that you make the air tube longerin the WM0642HW and that would add more water to the cylinder, It seemed to work, but now i'm having spin problems and excessive foaming.Maybe that pressure switch controls the drain pump activation and signals the drum motor to slow the cylinder down during the spin so water can be pumped away so it doesn't get water logged? I just don't know what to do? I've called LG to ask if i can reprogram the water level sensor to fill alittle higher , but just when i'm about to get an answer, i'm suddenly disconnected or that nothing can be done. I can't get any straight answer to my questions from them. Whenever i ask can something be done, i get put on hold or transfered to someone else. I seem to get steered wway from my original question.I read in the tech manual of the WM0642HW online that there are 10 water level steps. I don't want water half way up the door. I just want it to fill to the lower door edge, especially during the wash portion. Either in the Speed Wash cycle or Normal Cycle.Just one cycle with some water in it.I just can't stand this dry washing!I got so desperate i even used the tub clean cycle. It's filled up to the door seal and paused and didn't do much else! Except use a WHOLE LOTTA WATER TO CLEAN AN EMPTY TUB and the pump ran like crazy. That's water level i need on my laundry to tumble in. Instead it's used to clean an empty cylinder! Where is the ROTO-SPRAY WASH stream used in the Kenmore Washer Dryer Combos in the 1960s?Like Model # 110.6709701?

Low water fix
by: Fix Anything

My wife wanted a new washer (I thought the one we had worked fine) so I said go ahead get whatever you want. She did all kinds of research etc and decided on the LG WM0642HW. After a very short time she hated it because the amount of water it used was so low that the clothes we not even totaly wet - how they can get washed without being wet is beyond me.
So long story short - I found the water pressure sensor and was determined to modify it in some way to trick it into giving more water. As it turns out it has a 'screw' in the top of it that is held-after factory calibration I'm sure- that I broke the red loctite and turned it all the way in (clockwise). I gently turned it until it bottomed out - not crank like hell. It now provides what I consider to be a perfect amount of water to wash and properly rinse. For reference the water goes to the bottom of the window of the door.
Wife is happy again. Clothes actually get wet and washed.

Highly recommend!

This washing machine is a pretty good washing machine for the money. I absolutely LOVE the front-loading washing machine-- I am pretty short person and I hated having to stand on tippy toes and reach down into the bottom of top loaders to get out the sock and whatnot that stuck to the bottom.

While the front loading feature is great for me, those who are taller may not appreciate its height (though I suppose you may be used to it from your dryer). I like that you can program in your favorite setting and that wash times are calculated based on load weight, so for light (weight not color) loads you don’t waste a bunch of water and electricity but full loads are still certain to come out squeaky clean!

I also think it holds a LOT more than my old washer, but I used to live in college apartments so every washer seems huge. In general, this seems to be realitively quiet though it is not as quiet as the one my parents own (though this could be because my laundry room is right next to the living room so I hear it when I am reading and doing quiet activities).

The noise comes mostly from the fact that it shakes a bit, but that could be due to faulty installation or uneven flooring, I do not know. All-in-all I would say this is a good value, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend!

very pleased

I love the fact that it is a front loader. Seems more sturdy and it almost as if you can get more work done with each load. It's movement are very strong and the noise is very little which is a plus. I also like the funny sounds it makes when you turn it on and off.

They said that I would notice a big difference in my electric bill which i have not. It is a little more bulky in my house then it looked in the store. I will say that I have noticed that my whites are a lot more bright and clean.

The price is a lot more then i was going to spend but I'm hoping that it will pay for itself in the long run. With my older machine i would have to do an additional rinse on sweats, jeans, and jackets. Which would not only double my time but also double the water used each time.

I was looking forward to the front door but after using it for a while i find when the door is open it limits my movement in my laundry room. It looked a little confusing to use at first but now the kids are using it easier then myself, that's great! I would have given this machine a five out of five rating if it had more color selection.

Another high point is that i would do my delicates in the sink so they wouldn't shrink or get damaged, but now with the LG they are fine and fresh saving me time.

On the same note I wonder if those smaller loads are using to much water. There is really not any way for me to know but it is small concern in the overall success of the machine.

Getting Higher Water Level in WM0642HW
by: Stanley M.

I've had this WM0642HW washer for 11 months now. I've have from day one been disappointed in the extremely low water level and also the deception from LG about the Forced Water Recirculation Spray Nozzle removal from this model without letting consumers know before purchasing, that what is displayed in stores will not be installed on new units delivered. No Forced Water Recirculation Spray!Your laundry will plop around in cups of water for a long time with dry spots still evident on clothing several minutes into the wash cycle. After much research, i finally figured out how to get the extra water into the cylinder to the edge of the lower door gasket.LENGHTHEN THE AIR TUBE ABOUT 2 INCHES. Every one from LG said there was no way to increase the water level. That was a lie. I just wanted 4 or 5 gallons more water in the cylinder for the wash portion but also not raise above the rubber door seal & i've accomplished that and now things are much cleaner and detergent throughly mixed and flowing over my laundry. You probably knew that adding water through the dispenser ,the machine would stop and pump everything out.So the air tube lenghening was the answer to this problem. Remember, just a few inches goes a long way, so don't over do the length. You'll have to play around alittle bit.

The pump should be able to drain the cylinder during the initial 30 sec drain portion before plastering of clothing for the spin.Maybe you can get away with a cup still inside when pump does it's first pause, but it shouldn't be any more water than that.I don't wan't the motor straning unnessarily. It has worked fine ever since i did that and now i'm happy.Clean laundry first time around.4 inches in tube length made water level raise 2 inches above door seal.Too high! Also it didn't drain completely before trying to plaster. What a difference 4 gallons of water makes.

Terrible product. Will not spin properly, cloths come out stinky and dripping wet. Total waste of money. Zero stars.

LIttle noisy but recommend
by: Cystal

I purchased the LG WM0642H washer with another LG model of dryer. The store that we purchased from had a separate deal on each, but they still looked like a set. We were prompted to go with an LG model because of their great energy efficiency ratings. This was one of our largest issues with our previous washer and dryer. They both seemed to run constantly without the results that we needed.

I was very adamant about finding a washer that was a front loader. My previous washer was a top loader, and it was always difficult to wash heavy bed linens and such. However, the LG WM0624H still has the traditional appearance of a top loader, which is what I still wanted to have. I was more interested in an efficient washer, rather than one that is modern and stylish.

The washer has an array of great washing features, many of which would be quite intimidating for those first using the appliance. There are water temperature settings, spin cycle speeds, and washing cycles to choose from. I love the fact that I can select how soiled an item is, as well as the size of an item, or the detail of how delicate the fabric is. There is also a sanitary cycle that helps sterilize bedding and clothing. It takes about an hour, but with the peace of mind, it is a great feature to have, especially with children in the house.

The washer is slightly more noisy than the similar LG dryer that we purchased. However, I have recommended the LG WM0642H to all of my friends and family who were on the market for a new washer.
