Hand Wash Helps!

by Allyson
(New York)

I always find that washing my delicate items like fancy blouses by hand helps them last longer. It preserves the integrity of the fabric while still giving a thorough clean. I also do this with all of my pantyhose, tights, and knee highs. It helps avoid runs that can be caused by machine washing.

Use Woolite with it
by: Anonymous

I definitely agree with the above posts. I recommend using products such as Woolite or a baby detergent. I think using harsh detergents on delicate laundry can hurt them in the long run.

Hands still wash best
by: Anonymous

For fabrics which are difficult to find and wash especially the small and delicate ones, I still do believe and agree that hand wash still helps in washing your clothes. Because for one, you could control the length of time you wash it and the intesity/effort you put into washing it, thereby really preserving the quality of the fabric for longer use.

Handwash
by: Anonymous

I agree treating the delicate stuff by hand gives them more life. I wash bras, lacy items and shafoons with hands first and then put them in the dryer fluff cycle. Things are always great after handwash!

I agree

I do my delicate by hand also.
It helps my bras keep their shape. The spin cycle and dryer can do nasty things to their shape. That could make you look uneven, I found out the hard way.

Hand washing dainty items
by: shedidnot

I agree with the previous poster. I have always washed my delicate by hand. Then I put them in the dryer on fluff/no heat cycle. I found that my exspenive delicate last much longer and the colors dont fade and my lacy items stay in tact and dont lint up.
