Get 'em While They're Young

by Martha
(N. Ft. Myers FL)

Teach Junior and Darla to do laundry when they are little. Let them learn the correct way from you. Sorting clothes helps them learn their colors. Even a three year old can paw through the laundry and find all the red socks.

They learn a valuable skill that will serve them well when they go off to college or get their own apartment. It also helps them take care of their clothes a little better. If she has to wash it, Darla might think twice about throwing half her wardrobe on the bedroom floor.

Absolutely!

This is one of the best things you can do for your children (along with teaching them other basic skills, like cooking, balancing a checkbook, etc.). During my first couple of years in college I lived in dorms, and I was amazed that so many people didn't know how to do their own laundry! I was very glad that my parents taught me how to do chores and gave me responsibilities when I was younger.
