GE WPRE6150 top load washer

check mark

Product Overview The WPRE6150's capacity is 3.5 cu.ft. Though it is smaller than the usual 4 cu. ft. machines in the market, it makes up through its cleaning power. Beneath this compact white-enameled exterior lies a motor that is ready and able to take on the heaviest of loads yet still be gentle enough on the most delicate types of fabric.

Key features

The WPRE6150 is a sight to behold and a cinch to control with its rotary electronic wash/rinse control knobs at the panel. Washer control features are displayed on a LED screen along with the cycle countdown. Users no longer have to watch its every spin, as the cycle status lights can tell them at what stage the washing is in. This washer is a top-loading type of machine that has a door that opens wide at the top to accommodate even large pieces of laundry such as blankets or towels. Inside the 3.5 cu. ft. tub is a stainless steel wash basket that contains the laundry items. Water is dispensed into the laundry through the RainShower™ System.

PerfecTemp™ variable water system

The GE WPRE6150 assures users of cleaner and fresher fabrics by using water that has been set at different temperatures to kill germs and get rid of stains fast. With its PerfecTemp™ variable water system, the water used to first rinse out the clothes are heated up to kill germs and bacteria and loosen stubborn dirt and grime. After flushing out the germs and dirt, the washer runs the laundry into cold water to help preserve the color and quality of the fabric. There are six temperature settings to choose from with GE's WPRE6150.

GentlePower™ Control agitator

Unlike other washers that use aggressive agitators and fans in the tub that damages clothes, the GE WPRE6150 uses the GentlePower™ Control agitator. This type of agitator handles even the most delicate of the laundry items with utmost care, while driving out the stains and dirt. This washer has six wash/spin combinations and 32 cycles to choose from.

Cycles

For those who want to have that gentle but thorough washing the hands can do, this washer has a Handwash cycle with light soil setting. This not only gets rid of the stain as if they washed it by their hands, but also takes extra care of the fabric while being washed. Fabric pieces such as cottons can be soaked prior to the washing process if there are stains that are hard to remove. Auto soaking time ranges from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. For those items that have really heavy stains, the washer can be set to regular extra heavy soil, regular extra light soil, regular heavy soil, regular light soil, or regular medium soil to get rid of these stains without damaging the color and quality of your fabric.

Baby clothes, lingerie, and other small articles of clothing can get the germs and the dirt driven out of them without reducing their fabric to shreds, thanks to the Delicates cycle with light soil option. Casual types of clothing are also treated with the heavy soil or medium soil options. If on a schedule and don't have the time to do a full load, the Easy Care cycle of this top-loading washer with heavy soil, light soil, and medium soil options can take care of the dirt and germs without having to wait a little longer.

When it comes to rinsing out the suds, this washer is also a very competent machine that takes out the excess detergent with a Quick Rinse or even a Second Rinse option. Squeezing out excess water is done by the spin cycle with extended spin option. It's possible to remove the excess moisture without having to wash the garment all over again with the spin only option.

Very disappointed
by: Laura

Had this washer for 3 weeks now-not happy at all. It has gone off balance at least once a week. I had GE look at it and they couldn't find anything wrong. I'm loading it correctly so I'm not sure why this is happening but I'm returning it.

Also, on dark colored clothes that are not supposed to go in the dryer, they come out with white spots all over them. The book says it's lint & this can happen on clothes that are line-dryed but what are you supposed to do if the label says to line dry?

useless
by: Anonymous

I have had it for just over a year and it does not work at all.
before it broke, many times after the spin cycle the clothes were still soaking wet and I would have to spin them again.
the only good thing was that the washing machine was quiet.
Does not clean clothes well.

Now I am unable to find any information as to why it won't agitate or spin.
I guess the motor is shot.
Nothing about it on GE website or trouble shooting guide.
Very Sorry I purchased this machine!

doesn't clean properly
by: Army Mom in the Aloha State

We lived in a rental home for a few months and used a front loading machine. It was a $2000 washer that was well taken care of but still reeked of mold. If our clothes sat for more than an hour, they also smelled like mold. When our house was ready and I needed to buy my own washer, I chose a top loader to avoid the awful moldy smell. The best one I could find, that didn't have a track record of breakdowns and flooding, was the GE Profile WPRE6150K1WT.

We have a family of five people, one of whom is a 6 year old stain queen. The bottom line: This washer DOES NOT get clothes clean. I love the look. It is quiet. It has a huge capacity. It is energy efficient. The dials mean that I don't have to worry about the fussy computer problems of other machines. The matching dryer is terrific and doesn't shrink our clothing. BUT...our clothes are not clean.

I have tried everything from my Melaleuca old steadies that always get everything out to OxyClean to brighteners to pouring extra water in to cover the clothing to using the 30 minute soak feature on every load. Nothing works. In fact, sometimes the detergent, used as directed by the manufacturer, does not rinse out of the clothes. I have NEVER had that happen and I am used to lowest-bidder, old, Army supplied machines.

What I have noticed is that there is not enough water being used to cover the clothes while they are anemically agitated. The lack of an agitator is a plus except the fact that the slight swishing of the tub does nothing to clean the clothes.

I am happy to say that I bought it from the Blue Crew from Sears who are helping me find a new one to replace it for free. I am sorry to say that will be a difficult task because I don't want mold in our house and all the other top loading, agitatorless washers have histories of flooding/high maintenance control panel problems. I think I am going to have to go back to a solid, old fashioned top loading agitator machine. Wish me luck!

I find that the clothes come out wrinkled, something that had never happened with my old agitater washer.

Other then that the washer as a whole is fine.
