Whirlpool WTW57ESVW

by Gale
(Ohio)

When I began my search for a new machine the most important thing for me was that it be quiet. I researched many sites, talked to multiple salesmen and checked appliance repair to get opinions on the best quality product. Whirlpool was recommended the finest.

I am very disappointed with this machine. Quiet it is not! I have a knocking noise when the machine is in spin cycle, it acts as if it is off balance, and noisy when its washing and water load sensing isn't working right. I was just in the store I purchased it @ today & there were 2 of the exact machines there that had been returned, needing repaired.

Whirlpool WTW57ESVW0
by: Anonymous

We bought ours in 2009 and it worked fine for about 3 years and then it wanted to take of into orbit every time the spin cycle started. I've got dings in my wall where the washer kept banging into it! I've bought whirlpool appliances for decades, but this washer definitely will make me think long and hard about buying another whirlpool. Problem is the other brands are probably not any better either.

This Whirlpool is junk
by: Anonymous

I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool or Maytag wash machine again!!! Back in the day when I could only afford a second hand Kenmore wash machine I was able to use that machine (and it worked very well I might add)for 12 years. In the past 6 years I have bought a Maytag and this Whirlpool and both are junk! Intermittantly it agitates when it is filling; at the end of the load the clothes are dripping wet; so noisey I am glad it is in the basement; lack of a soap dispenser is a very poor design flaw; and the water saving feature is a joke.

never will purchase whirlpool again
by: Anonymous

I have owned this machine for only 2 years and it is now cycling right. It is going to cost $420.00 to repair this machine. I would not purchase this brand of machine again. It is very expensive to buy this to have it last only 2 years.

Buyer be ware!
by: Anonymous

I purchsed this model from Sear's. It is just 2 years old. I run perhaps 3 loads a week - not much! The transmission and control need to be replaced. This machine is junk. I don't know what Whirlpool or Sear,s are thinking when they market stuff like this, but I will no longer consider either of these companies in the future. I would have expected this washer to have lasted 10 years or so, as our GE washers have. I plan to go back to a GE.

Stay Away & from Steve's Appliances, MV, MN also
by: Anonymous

Do NOT buy this washer or buy ANYTHING at Steve's Appliances in Mounds View, Minnesota. We bought it at Steve's Applilances in Mounds View, Minnesota and it is absolutely horrible. We went back right away and were told, "Sorry. No returns." The washer's major defects are: 1) will not fill with hot water on the hot setting; only lukewarm 2) You have to keep opening the lid so enough water goes in for the size of the load. Hence, you can't start a load and leave the house. 3)It does not rinse well so you always have to do the rinse cycle twice. 4) The noise it makes is unbelievable.

Never Again
by: Jbean

Nothing but problems! Don't forget to put the bleach in at the beginning. If you add it later, the bleach goes directly on the clothes before you shut the lid at which time more water is added that you do not need. On the spin cycle we wait for the thing to take off as it shakes and rattles. Now I am getting tiny holes in the clothes. I have checked the interior with a nylon to see if there is something causing this and there is not. Between the noise and the ruined clothes from bleach and holes I would tell everyone NOT to buy this machine.

Ruins your clothes
by: Mark W

This washing machine does something that no other washing machine has ever done to our clothes. I have no idea why, but our clothes get blotchy stains on them. I don't know if it's an issue with the agitator or what, but this machine has ruined clothes over and over again, even after changing detergents (never bad before) and pre-mixing. We have ruined far too many clothes to buy a Whirlpool again.

Lowes sells Junk
by: Anonymous

Bought this from Lowes in Mechanicsburg Pa they talked me into extended warranty quick repairs etc. Well the washer quit working after it was only two years old. They send a repairman out supposedely and he said at first the capacitor was good then he said it was bad. Of course he was only a trouble shooter and did not bring any parts with him. So Lowes lied about sending a repair guy. He said it will take ten days to get parts. I guess they are coming from mexico where it was made. Why they can not get them local is crazy. Ten days is not speedy repairs. I complained to Lowes but they could care less they got my money and thats the end of that. Stay clear of Lowes they do not care about the customer. Now I have to spend my money to go to the laundramat. If they cant get the part get this I will have to wait even longer. They could have offered to replace it or give me a loaner but no that would be good customer relations. Stick with a Mom and Dad store they will take care of you in 24 Hours not ten days. Run dont walk away from Lowes appliances.Even talked to salesman he said its not a Lowes problem go figure they sold me the washer and extended warranty and its not their problem. Duh !!!!!!!!

MAD
by: Bob

This is the worse washer that we have ever had. There is a lot of noise. My white tee shirts are getting to look quite dingy and fine lint on them. Even after drying. There is a problem with the water level. Does not seem to be enough water and it can't have more added, other than opening the cover and then it fills to the top. Had three service calls and nothing works. Whirlpool told me there will be no more service calls even though the problems have been going on for over a year.

I have had similar problems. I purchased my machine from Best Buy. It is a year old and I have had the technician out twice to fix the same thing - when you turn the dial, the machine will not fill and the machine just "hums". Now they want me to pay for the repairs - NOT! I am going down to my county office on Monday and filing a small claims lawsuit against Best Buy and Whirlpool to get my money back!

do not buy this
by: Pat V

I purchased this washing machine in March 2009 from Lowes for $650 and I hate it! It has needed repairs since I purchased it and it is broke again! The worst thing about this machice is an "auto load sensing" The machine automaticaly fills with the right amount of water for each looad! Sure thing!! NOT!

When the load is full the machine only fills 3/4 when you open to check it fills more, if you put in a small load it fills all the way! Go figure! There is no soap dispenser so you have to put the dry clothes in the washer with the laundry detergent directly on top of your clothes. At this point I am so disappointed in my new machine, I wish I could return it. DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL!!!!
