Maytag Centennial MTW5800TW Top Load Washer

by Christy
(North Canton, OH)

We were in desperate need of a new washing machine after our old one finally broke down for the last time. We did a ton of research before finally deciding to purchase the Maytag Centennial MTW5800TW Top Load Washer. We are so happy with this purchase. It was a really affordable price at just under $500. It does an excellent job washing our clothes and has a lot of features.

This washing machine comes equipped with 10 Wash Presets, including: Permanent Press, Delicates, Hand Wash. That makes it nice, because sometimes we have delicate clothes that need a little extra care when washing.

It has five water levels, for a very small load of clothes up to your largest load of clothes. It comes with an end of wash signal, to let you know when your clothes are done and ready for the dryer.

If you are in need of a new washing machine, I would definitely recommend this model. It does a great job cleaning your clothes, and it comes with a lot of features. It is very reasonably priced. It also handles large loads of clothes. If you buy this washing machine, I know you won’t regret it. It is a great machine.

horrible product
by: jimbo

Without a doubt this is the loudest washer I`ve ever heard and I`m 60. I used to be able to nap when washing and now it sounds like world war 3 downstairs. Did the factory forget to put lubricant in the transmission and brake assembly? What about tolerences when manufacturing parts for a rotating assembly? Go back to the drawing board Maytag and throw this one away.

Piece of crap
by: Lititzian

Bought this machine when the salesman told us it was very quiet. Our washer/dryer is in our kitchen, so "quiet" was our highest priority. Since day one it has clanked and clunked and banged its way through its cycles. A very, very noisy machine! Wish we would have returned it after the first week. Can't wait for it to die so we can replace.

Don't Buy This Washer!!!
by: Mari

I've owned this washer for about 2 months. I've been able to use it for about 3 weeks out of this time. After two weeks of purchase the water stopped flowing. Service was called and it was determined that it was a faulty sensor switch. It took 2 weeks to receive a new sensor switch from Maytag. Did another approx. 20 loads of laundry over the next two weeks and guess what? Water stopped flowing again. Sensor switch is out, once again. Maytag is extremely hard to get a hold of since they are on the East Coast and I am in California. I have spent almost enough at the laundry mat that I should have been able to buy a more expensive, higher quality machine. There should be a product recall on this machine to replace this part, but there isn't. Do NOT buy this washing machine. You WILL REGRET IT!!

don't buy

after just six months the cold water stopped flowing. I disconnected the hose to determine if the problem was in the hose but it was not, I called Maytag but could not find my reciept and she said I need to call a service repair man. I did and he was not familiar with this system, the valve for hot and cold are connected so both must be replaced, the technician swapped the fuse from the hot to the cold to determine problem was in the switch, after that neither hot or cold worked

He wanted $370 to fix both... before he showed up I could wash clothes now it only makes sense to buy a different machine

Washer Model MVWC6ESW
by: Jo

Don't buy the Centennial auto load sensing washer. If for any reason you lift the lid, the water level will automatically fill to the highest settting. So, once you have placed your detergent and items to be washed in the machine, you cannot re-open the top to add softener or another item. If you do, the water level will automatically increase to the maximum amount, even though you may only be washing one or two items.
