Kenmore Heavy Duty Model 110

I purchased this washing machine approx 24 to 30 yrs ago from Sears. The machine has and is still serving me well. The best asset to my machine is the large tub, which allows to me double my load.

I am a mother of 8 kids, and this machine has been used on a daily basis since it arrived in my laundry room. There are several options on this machine which have gotten me through some rough times.

For example, there have been times when a child needed his or her favorite pair of jeans or shirt, I simply put it on the short cycle, and within 10 mins. the item is washed. (112)

One feature I was thrilled with when I purchased it was the safety factor when the lid was raised while in operation, the machine would stop, protecting little hands from being injured.

I remember all my previous machines before this one, would continue to spin or agitate with the lid up. My machine is a top loader, white and has all the ear marks of going through 8 kids.

When and If this little machine finally retires, I will for sure purchase another Kenmore Machine. Thank you Sears

They don't make'm like they used to!!

I also puchased a Kenmore washer/dryer set (large capacity) in 1988. They have never needed a single repair. Twenty-three years later I am still using the dryer, but we had to replace the washer two years ago. Of course we went for the best, large-capcity Kenmore machine, thinking it would be the top quality machine we were used to.
Well, what a mistake that was! We pruchased the large capacity front-loading machine and in less than two years the bearings have worn out completely. We called them, and they said even though our machine is still under some limited warrantee we would have to pay a service man to come to our house to verify that it is the bearings, then we will have to pay a service man to install the new drum/bearings. We will have to wait for weeks until this process is completed. I have five children, and a mountain of wash to do every week!!!!! I don't have the time to spend at a laundromat!!! Give me a break!! If a $900 plus machine will only last less than two years, and then they want me to shell out more money to fix their cheap-quality machine..... then, thanks but NO THANKS Sears; you can keep your machine. I won't buy another Kenmore. Apparently they just aren't made with the same quality they used to be made with.

buyer beware
by: durango

We bought a new large capacity Kenmore washer and dryer about 7 years ago to replace our aging vintage Kenmore set purchased in the mid-70's. The new dryer is OK but there's a bump in every rotation of the drum. The old machine never did that.

The new washer is a huge disappointment. After a lifetime of nothing but good things heard about Kenmore washers, (in the 50's, my mother loved hers; for over 25 years, my wife loved hers) I bought a new one with great confidence.

The agitator is puny and wimpy. It doesn't churn the laundry like the old one. So it doesn't clean as well and it doesn't rinse as well. My wife has to rinse twice. The spin is equally ineffective. Clothes come out heavy with water, unlike the old machine. And the load needs to be hand balanced nearly every time to keep it from out-of-balance thumping.

The cheap plastic pump started leaking recently. I think I'll just get another machine, but it won't be a Kenmore.

Shame on Sears for ruining a great machine. Don't they realize they've ruined their reputation as well. The sales pitch would have you believe it's "new and improved" but, believe me, the only thing they improved was their profit.

Once again, rampant corporate greed takes another bite out of the consumer.

stay away from the newer machines that have sensors - auto load, water level etc; all garbage.I had a maytag for 13 years, not a problem. we then bought a new house and decided not to bring the washer along but instead to buy a new one ,worst decision i ever made. 600 $ for a ge profile with " hydrowave " that lasted 14 months now looking for another dependable washer. wish I could bring the old one back.

Kenmore 110

I purchased a Kenmore 110-82873100 in 1988; it has never needed repair and is still going strong. I have been considering buying a new energy star/HE machine, but after reading so many bad reviews, I'm having second thoughts!

Capacity of Kenmore 110
by: Anonymous

My Kenmore Heavy duty 110 has also been a great machine with heavy use for over 25 years. However, it now needs to be repaired of replaced. I want another one with the same capacity. Does anyone know the capacity of the Kenmore 11082873100 or have the specs on it? No one seems to know and I want one with the same capacity. Did anyone get an answer to this question? Thanks.

Old faithful
by: Anonymous

My Kenmore Heavy Duty Model 110 is great! We purchased it in 1988 and it has run without problem or need for repair for 20 years. It’s more than adequate for everyday washing and has been faithful through the past years of washing for a busy family of four. The only drawback that I can think of is that I wish it’s capacity were just a bit larger. It’s fine for washing bedspreads and comforters up to full size or quilts up to king size, but too small for washing king size comforters.
