Discontinued

The Whirlpool WFW9450WR is a front-load washer that is highly rated by many appliance retailers and consumers. It?s no surprise that this washing machine has many glowing reviews, for it boasts many features that let you wash more clothes more efficiently.

Key features

  • Its capacity of 4.4 cubic feet allows you to wash larger loads, saving time and energy.
  • This washing machine is ENERGY STAR® & CEE Tier III qualified.
  • The Add-A-Garment feature allows you to add clothes to the washer even after you?ve started a washing cycle.
  • The Duet-HT Fabric Care system ensures that garments are cleaned without wear, tear, and damage.
  • The machine?s 6th sense technology measures the size of each load and sets the corresponding amount of water needed for optimum cleaning.
  • Care Control temperature sensors monitor the water?s temperature, adjusting it as needed. This ensures that the water is warm enough to give you clean laundry, while preventing it from reaching temperatures that may damage your clothing.
  • The washer has 12 automatic cycles that can accommodate all your laundry needs. Clothes that require heavy duty cleaning, delicates, normal loads, and quick wash are just some of the options offered by this machine.
  • Clothes are kept clean smelling and bacteria free thanks to the Tumble Fresh option, which tumbles the clothes after each completed cycle.
  • Dispensers for detergents, bleach, and fabric softeners make sure that all of these are added at the right time during your laundry cycle.
  • A twelve-hour delay feature allows you to input your settings and start your laundry cycle at a preset time.
  • This washer comes with a one-year warranty.

    Advantages

  • When it comes to efficiency and cleanliness, the WFW9450WR is a clear winner.
  • The Energy Star qualification means that this machine meets the standards of the US government with regard to energy efficiency and conservation.
  • This also means that you save energy costs as well as helping the environment.
  • The above-mentioned features make sure that your laundry is clean and fresh smelling, while taking care of your clothes.
  • Its large capacity and other time-saving features also allow you to do your laundry with minimum time and effort.

    Disadvantages

  • However, efficiency, speed, and cleanliness come at a price. With a retail price ranging from US$800-1200, this Whirlpool model may be out of the price range of some households.
  • For those who have minimum laundry requirements, this may not be the washing machine for you.

    Consumer Opinions

    Pros

  • Speed: this washer can launder large loads in just a few minutes.
  • Efficiency: this machine cuts down both your water and energy consumption. The Fabric Care system also ensures that you use only the minimum amount of detergent and/or bleach needed, further reducing your laundry costs.
  • Cleanliness: even tough stains and heavily soiled clothes are made to look as good as new, without fabric being worn, damaged, or shrunk.
  • Quiet: minimal noise and vibration are produced, even when the machine is washing a large load using a heavy duty cycle.

    Cons

  • Some features may not work properly
  • Tends to get noisy throughout the years
  • Expensive

Since businesses over the last 20 years have gotten obsessed with maximizing THEIR profit margin, I don't think I'm off to say after my mother bought for $100 the 4 year extended warranty on the WFW94500LL, of course 2 months afterwards, no matter what cycle she tries, the timer or whatever it could be, stops the entire wash cycle and no remedying instructions: F 31 or F51.

I think people were better off with the old-fashioned washers.

    Junk
    by: Anonymous

I bought this washer in December 2009. Despite it's large size, I have to wash my comforter twice in it, switching it around after each wash (I recently used a friend's washer- top loader, agitator in middle - the comforter is as clean as it's ever been). A month ago it started with a F-28 error. According to the repairman this could be ANYTHING in the washer from minor to major; so far it hasn't been the simple things; next week he'll be back to check grounding wires, if they are okay then it will be a refurbished CCU unit (can't afford a new one, might as well buy a new washer).

I'll NEVER own another front loader again - anyone I know that has one (regardless of brand) has said the same.

    WORST EVER
    by: Anonymous

This machine sucks! Bought in Dec. 09 and have had leaks since then. Now they are telling me that the part I need to fix it (the top of the tub) needs to be replaced and of course it's on backorder! Won't be in for a couple of months! I've been at the laundromat for 4 weeks now. I complained and am "Supposed" to be getting a refund check. Still waiting for the check for a week so far! Worst machine EVER! Please don't buy it!

Do not buy whirlpool front load!!!!!
    by: Anonymous

yes, i bought this front load machine January 2010, suppose to save me time and money. 5 month from the date i bought. the lock on the door break apart. It because the lock made out of plastic, and can not handle the clothes got tangle together and bounce against the door.

They came and fixed it because it still under 1 year warranty .a couple month after that , the Same problem happen again!!.This time they fix the lock and replace the door too it because it got damage from the clothes bounce against it . Now , this month Jan. 2011, this stupid machine acting up again , this time it did not drain the water well enough , it took me about 3 hours to finish one load of laundry. It because i have to press drain and spin after the washer done and dry in the dryer TWICE.

Life is so busy whose have time for this crap! This the reason why I have to replace the 12 years old washing machine that i have before and this stupid machine only a year old and did the same thing.. My husband very upset, he call them and ask for replacement, We think we got the defect one. it lead one problem to another.,but they said in there stupid policy can't do that.all they can do it trying to fix it.ok what happen after the warranty is up? It will cost you arms and legs .their customer service are terrible.I don't know what they going to said next because today they machine broke again. This machine waste too much of our time. with in 1 year it broke 4 time already.

THIS IS A PIECE OF JUNK !!!! ALSO this machine make your clothes smell bad even it clean. So DO NOT buy this product. They are expensive and it good for nothing. so don't waste your money on whirlpool machine. I make sure all the people i know , family , friends, all my customers from my business , facebook know about this crappy product and how their customer service are. I just don't want anybody go through the same problem . trust me it not fun..

    Tangled
    by: Anonymous

I wrote in previously about the musty smell my Whirlpool washer has. I forgot to mention that it tangles the clothes so bad that it takes me a long time to untangle them to get them into the dryer. I pull and tug and that is not good on my clothes. This is also not a good feature of the washer. I have also had some areas of clothes with dry spots. Are they really clean?? Makes you wonder. . .

this is a top of the line washer???
    by: Anonymous

You would think that a top of the line washer (which costs a bunch) would not make your clothes smell worse than when they went into the washer. I can't stand this musty smell. It about knocks me down when I open the door to the washer to do a load of laundry. I have started leaving the door open on the washer all the time. I have used Affresh repeatedly. I dry the entire inside after I am done using the washer and it still happens. Our salesman at Lowe's told us that some of the washers do this and some of them don't and they don't know the reason that ones do it and the other's don't. He told us not to waste our money on the Affresh from now on. I agreed with him, it isn't helping. I want a new washer!!!!

    musty

Tends to get a very musty smell in the warmer months. Even after using the washer clean cycle clothes and expecially towels will remain musty smelling after washing and drying.

    disappointed
    by: Anonymous

I purchased this washer in October last year(2009). The towels come out smelling musty. With the low water level some of the clothes I have to redo the washing. If there is alot of grime on the clothes they come out as I put them in the washer. On my heavy duty cycle my washer does not spin the clothes. They come out drenched. I would not purchase this washer if you are a mechanic.
