  • A three-tray dispenser drawer for detergent, bleach, and fabric softener ensures that all your garments are thoroughly cleaned and treated.
  • Clothes are kept clean and fresh smelling even after a cycle thanks to the TumbleFresh option. This feature also minimizes wrinkles.
  • The Clean Washer cycle removes dirt, residue, and detergent build up from the interior of your washing machine.
  • A delay feature of up to ten hours allows you to start wash cycles whenever it is most convenient for you.
  • Noise and vibration are drastically reduced by the washer?s 5-point suspension system and Quiet Wash noise reduction system.
  • This model is Energy Star and CEE Tier III qualified, assuring you that it is one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly washing machines in the market.

    Advantages

  • This model efficiently and effectively launders large loads.
  • Its features ensure that you have very clean laundry with every cycle.
  • Being a very energy-efficient machine, it can drastically reduce your energy consumption and cut down on costs.
  • The convenience this washing machine affords can also save you time, as well. With prices ranging from US$600-700, it is very affordable.

  • However, this washing machine costs considerably less than other models, while still performing at a comparable level.

    Consumer Opinions

    Pros

  • Performance: the machine is capable of handling large and heavy loads with ease. Clothes come out very clean, even garments with stubborn and tough stains. It is capable of handling a wide range of garments
  • Convenience: the delay feature and TumbleFresh option let you choose to start and unload your laundry whenever you want. The Clean Washer cycle makes it easy to maintain and care for your machine
  • Value for money: the features of this machine are similar to those of more expensive models, but many consumers find this washer to be very affordable. The machine?s energy consumption qualifications also help you save money by reducing energy costs

    Cons

  • An ineffective spin cycle: sometimes, more than one spin cycle is needed to thoroughly wring out water from laundry.
  • Small garments, such as socks and underwear, may be trapped in spaces and crevices within the machine.
  • The timer display has been reported to be sometimes inaccurate.

Can only run a full wash cycle on cold water. Cannot get it to keep running if hot water is coming in. We unplugged it from the box and used a regular outlet and the same thing happened, so we don't think it's the electrical box or a plumbing problem. Help!

Only giving 1 star since I can't give negative ones! NEW
    by: Anonymous

We bought this machine in Feb. 2010. It worked alright for about the first year, then the problems started and still haven't stopped. Thankfully we did have a 5 year warranty through Best Buy. We've had it "repaired" 5 times that I can find receipts for and had to have the dryer fixed because the clothes were not getting enough water out and it burnt up the heating element. Dec. 2011 the seal pulled off the drum and it had to be replaced along with the clamps. July 2012 the drum got loose from the blocks and needed new bolts and tightening. Oct. 2013 the block broke and crushed the drain hose so it was a new outer tub and new drain hose. Nov. 2014 the pump had to be replaced. Feb 2015 the bellow went out and needed to be replaced. Now, Oct 2015, the bottom block has busted off the plastic tub and the tub and the block will have to be replaced, but it is not under warranty anymore so Lord knows what that will cost. We will probably end up getting a new machine. If you are thinking about purchasing this machine I would say not to and if you are going to any way, get any warranty offered for the maximum time you can. Thankfully our $126 5 year warranty saved us over $800, which is a whole new washer and almost double what we origionally paid for it!

Time to try a different brand. NEW
    by: Anonymous

Good machine in cleaning. Unfortunately, not as reliable as expected in the 21 century material and technology.

Brought in April 2011. Replaced Bellow at 2 years point. The outer wash tub cracked last week. Not worth repairing (who knows what caused it? overload? bad bearing? ??)

Like trying to model a house -- you never know what you will find once you take it apart.

Time to try a different brand.

    COMPLETE WASTE! NEW
    by: Anonymous

Purchased this washer 2/1/2012. by the time the 1 year manufacture warranty ran out the bellow tore at least 4 times therefore my washer was unusable more than half of that year waiting for repairs. low and behold the bellow went out again February of 2013 and the useless extended warranty did not cover the repair.

The washer has been sitting on my porch until less than 2 weeks ago when the bellow was replaced again since i had the extra funds due to tax time. after 2 years of taking up space and gather dust all i learned was why the washer has been sitting uselessly on my porch. yes the bellow is tore up again and i have another couple loads of clothes to throw out.

As a single mother of 4 kids all with their own special needs I purchased this stupid washer to try and simplify that aspect of my life. I don't think Ive been more disappointed by a $600 purchase in my life!!!!

The Washing Machine From Hell & The Worst Costumer Service Ever NEW
    by: Joel Santana

This is the original letter I wrote to Lowe's Corporate regarding this front loader washing

To Lowe's Corporate: On October 17, 2010 I, unfortunately, visited your Lowe's store located in the city of Pico Rivera California. I was also unfortunate enough to purchase a whirpool, front loader, washing machine item # wfw9150ww. I chose this machine because it seemed to bae a good quality product, your store personnel recomended it, and it seemed like a good fit for my family needs. It was also recomended I buy a 2 year warranty protection and I was persuaded by this recomendation. I took the washing machine home and installed it and immediately began using it. My wife immediately noticed that this machine had erratic wash cycles, the clothes would not completely spin dry and, in addition to that, small articles of clothing such as socks and underwear, would get stuck between the washing machine's front door jamb gasket and the spinning drum. We noticed an additional problem with the inside of the same gasket as it forms a circular pocket and dirt and small lint particles tend to become trapped in this pocket creating a health issue. The straw that broke the camel's back occurred on February 11, 2011 when my wife was washing some whites, which by the way were damaged, and the machines front door frame's gasket was torn off and we were no longer able to use this machine. My wife called me at work to let me know about this incident and I contacted your customer care dept. via email and I followed the instructions on the response received. I have basically called every number on your repair dept. and your customer service dept. as well as the original store where I made the purchase, and to say the least, I am totally not only dissatisfied with your customer service but I am damn right discussed with it. I am contacting you via this medium to give you a new opportunity to redress this wrong. Thank you.

Now today being January 6, 205 it is needless to say that in spite of having paid for 2 years of additional warranty service repair. The machine remains in my garage as a huge paper weight.

    Do Not Buy Whirlpool NEW
    by: Anonymous

Purchased in Jan 2010 with a 5 year warranty from Lowe's, we've had at least 8 service calls that I can remember. We've had everything wrong, sometimes the same parts fail multiple times. Drain pump, cracked tubs, bearings, mother board, control board, spin motor. Most recently, 1 month before the warranty expires, the door seal twisted around the load of clothes. For some reason, it continued to try to spin, so I'm sure it's going to need another new motor in addition to the seal.

I purchased mine in June 2011, I have already replaced the rubber gasket from the drum 3 times. If you slightly overfill the washer with clothes you can expect that it will destroy your clothing. It is my last Whirlpool appliance. Clearly they designed the gasket/dome incorrectly and they have a mess on their hands.

I bought this washing machine from my brother in law. Problems from the get go. It barely puts enough water in the drum to get all the clothes wet then it starts washing. After washing it just sits there and beeps. It won't move to the rinse cycle. I have to push the power button for it to stop beeping then it drains and goes off. Me and my husband are out $150 because our brother in law won't give us our money back. I think he knew it was messed up when we got it.

Whirlpool WFW9150WW DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE
    by: Amanda L

As you can see from the vast range of comments on this site, it is sad to say that Whirlpool missed the mark when it came to this machine. They use inferior components that causes the machine to fail. We have had our machine for 2 1/2 years and the bellow tore causing over $750 in damage to our clothing by tearing and punching holes through the material. I contacted Whirlpool customer service who said they will not do a thing to assist in the $300 repair. They claim they have NEVER heard of anyone having the issue I have I sent them this link which they claim is hearsay. They state there is no re-call on the machine, they did tell me they value my opinion (to line the inside of a trash bin). It is sad that when you spend your hard earned money on a product like this that is useless in less than 3 years and the manufacturer will not stand behind it!!! Crazy, Looks like I will never spend a dollar on another Whirlpool product!

Dear Wizard Our Whirlpool duet 4.0 tumblefresh (model WFW9150WW00) has been damaging our clothes when used on Whitest White and hot temperature. The rubber lining inside is powdering and staining clothes as well as tearing them. We bought it in July 2010 from Conns in TX. We have been very disappointed with this brand and model. Just last night it damaged 3 infant clothes staining them with the rubber powder and tearing them at the shoulder. Any advise?

    WHIRLPOOL WASHER

I bought a whirlpool because my first washer lasted 30 years. Have had the duet 2 years and it is a piece of crap. Its excessively noisey. my husband made sure it was balanced and I've done everything the manual says. Now, the LF light keeps coming on and when it fills, the clothes are floating in water. I will never buy another whirpool or anything else they make. Sears bought the company and ruined the quality of Whirlpool. Sears ruins everything they touch.

More Satisfied - Washer repaired - for $129 out of pocket
    by: Anonymous

I commented on here earlier - now the cat is going to be out of the bag. I got an estimate from A&E to repair my washer. Basically, it would have been cheaper to buy a new washer. I was in the process of claiming the repair against my credit card's automatic extended warranty. My co-worker suggested I call whirlpool and ask about this issue. I did. I called, asked if there were any TSB's or recalls regarding this issue. After a few transfers - and explaining my issue MAYTAG SENT THE PARTS FOR FREE!!!! to my home. I just had to pay installation. Fortunately - the flat rate I paid to A&E covered installation.

Washer is much better now. Whirlpool almost sent a whole new washer. New drum, new surround, new gasket, new door seal. Very satisfied.

I bought this washer in April 2011. The tub bearing is already worn out. Of course it is out of warranty. To get it fixed would cost $450.00. We paid $500.00 for it. If my husband can't fix it I'll have to buy another one. It sure won't be a Whirlpool or any other brand they make such as Maytag, Amana, Magic Chef.

This machine did not work properly from day 1. I could not get the machine to start on day 1. I called the techinican and it took him almost one hour to figure it out. Turned out the 'Start' button was very tight and you have to press it really hard to get it started. The technician advised that it will loosen up and everything will be fine. After 20 months, I still have to put a lot of pressure on my finger to get this machine started.

Even worse, the drainer doesn't work properly now, the door automatically locks after the cycle ended because there is still water inside the tube. I only do 3 loads of laundry per week and only had this water for 3 weeks!!!!

Do not buy this washer!!! I am not even sure how much it will cost me to fix this problem as the warranty has expired. What a horrible experience.

Recently had washer fail. Clothes would come out of the washer chewed up - or full of rubber pieces - and of course smelling like burned rubber. The repair main stated that repair cost would be about $830 for parts and labor. This washer was 14 months old, and used properly - according to the manual. Very poor.

    by: Anonymous

It worked great for 3 months. The clothes came out very clean and I liked how efficient it was with such less water use & detergent and then the nightmare started. I needed the drum rebuilt. It took over 6 weeks and 2 different repair companies to supposedly correct the problem after numerous cancellations and shipment of duplicate parts. Whirlpool and A&E customer service were unsympathetic and unresponsive to any reasonable time frame to repairing this monster. After a 3 hour service call to basically rebuild the machine, the tech found out I needed a new motor and control panel. After another 2 weeks of customer service lies, nonresponsive supervisors and executives, I was left with backordered parts and no repair timeframe. I had the local store I bought this from harass Whirlpool until I got a new machine. I won't recommend a BBB complaint because no one will help you since it's at an "Executive Level" They don't care about the hundreds of dollars spent at the laundromat or your months of inconvenience. I'm going to sell the new machine and buy another brand. FYI-Whirpool also owns Maytag, Kitchenaid, Amana, Hoover, Jenn-Air, Magic Chef & Admiral. Stay away, customer service will not help you and Whirlpool is another corporate monopoly just stealing your money with inferior products.

Bought front load washer and dryer 12/31/09 and was delivered 1/2/10. Everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago.(2/11). It started making a roaring noise during the spin cycle. Of course the warranty has expired. Had a technician come look at it. Needs rear shell bearing and spin basket & seal. Total cost of parts: $354.45. Total cost of labor:$349.65. Grand total $729.39 to fix a machine that cost us $526.17. At that rate I will be washing clothes in the bathtub. My last washing machine I had for 22 years. It worked fine up until the last 5-7 years. I would expect a product like this to last at LEAST 8 t0 10 years. I will NEVER buy another one!

WARNING: Bought Whirlpool 4.0 cu ft Duet High Efficiency Washing Machine(Model WFW9150WW) and it was broken on arrival. The sensor that monitors the amount of water in the drum was defective, resulting in the the washer being stuck on the wash cycle and failing to move to the rinse cycle. The "insufficient water" error code would beep despite the fact that the water intake hose was properly set up. After 6 weeks of multiple attempts to get it fixed, we are fed up and we want it returned. Bought it from Leon's and they do not do returns as Whirlpool will not reimburse them. So instead of Leon's being stuck with a worthless machine, we are stuck with it. I will never buy Whirlpool again. Spent $$$ on a brand new broken machine and Whirlpool can't even stand by their product and exchange it for one that actually works!

    Whirlpool Does Not Back Product
    by: Maria

We purchased this product in March of 2010. By October the internal seal that keeps the water in the drum shredded almost completely off and water was leaking all over my floor. Worst part was that my laundry was sucked into the inside of the motor part and was ripped to shredds. Upon contacting Whirlpool they sent out a tech. (2 weeks later). He was surprised they sent him out because there were no parts in stock in the country and Whirlpool was aware of this. He also said my part was defective and it should never had happened. I contacted Whirlpool and they said they were sorry I just had to wait and "we understand your frustration". Well, it is now 5 days until Christmas and my washer still doesn't work and they will not authorize a return. I do not want it repaired because all the items that have been sucked in could have caused more damage. I spent hours on the phone with them and they are entirely unreasonable, but they do read well from that script they are given "we understand your frustration". They even attempted to send me $75 but I had to agree to have the machine repaired and not try to replace it. My saving grace has been Lowes, where I purchased my machine. They are standing behind what they sell and they are taking back my machine. I will have a new machine next week, and true to my word, it is NOT a Whirlpool product. I will never purchase their products again. Their corporate website says their goal is to make your life easier. Well, for about 2 months they have made my life anything but easier. Please know that that Whirlpool owns many brand names including Maytag and Amana, and know that they do NOT stand behind what they make. I understand nothing lasts forever, but it should last longer than the warranty and manufacturers need to stand behing what they make.
