Whirlpool Quiet Wash

by Kristi
(London, KY)

We purchased our Whirlpool Quiet Wash washer at a local home appliance store here in southeast Kentucky. We purchased it in 2004 when we built our house. The salespeople at the appliance store were extremely helpful in describing the type of service offered by this machine.

The machine is "commercial quality" machine with a large tub and agitator that folds the clothes in as it moves. This also provides a much quieter operation than the machine I previously used. I am able to load at least 10 pair of adult size jeans in one load (sometimes more depending on the bulkiness of the jeans).

I can also load A LOT of towels which is great because I am a working mom who doesn't always have the time to do laundry everyday.

Also, this machine cleans great. The rinse cycle is fast and thorough and the spin cycle does a great job getting the excess water out.

We have had no mechanical problems whatsoever in the four (4) years we have owned this machine. The machine still runs as smoothly as the first day we used it in 2004.

I would certainly purchase another machine from this manufacturer.

In fact, I’d like to purchase a front-loading hi-efficiency washing machine by the same manufacturer.

Timer problems
by: R. Olson

We have owned this washer for about 5 yrs. The day I brought is home, we put the first load in and it quit when we got to rinse cycle (timer switch). The vendor we bought it from came out & repaired it under warranty. About 1yr later the lid switch broke. Then 3yrs later the timer switch went out again. The price just for the part is $150, not including labor. I called Whirlpool to see if they would help out with this cost, offered to put part in myself. They would not help us. I will be buying a different brand of washer.

Very irritating
by: Anonymous

For some reason, when I set the washing on the "Regular 9" mark (bold markings) it will sit and be idle after the water has filled up. You can hear a timing device winding down without any washing activity going on. I have to always come in and pull the wash selection nob up, reset it back before the "Regular 9" or, on the light wash selection to get it to run. Very irritating. Otherwise, it has selection for settings and washes clothes just fine.
