Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer

by michelle
(PA)

I was skeptical at first because of the price but my husband insisted on getting this one since a guy form work said they were awesome. Sears offered free delivery which was awesome. They brought it and set it up. I did a lot of laundry and it made a loud banging noise.

Upon inspection, we figured it needed to be on a more flat and even surface. We put it on a pedestal but it still shook really bad. So, I had to sit all weekend without doing laundry because they couldn't get a service man out until Monday.

He arrived and looked at it and decided that something was mounted wrong on the inside so he had to have a new one delivered.

I think it was just bad luck because when they brought the new one, it worked perfect on the platform. I just think we got a bad washer, which can happen from time to time.

I would definatly recommend this model. It's fantastic!

Don't waste your $$$
by: Disappointed consumer

I have had this washer 3 years exactly and the bearings have gone out. It sounds very loud when spinning. The repair man says $550.00 to repair. I am going to buy a top loader.

Not a bad machine
by: Anonymous

I like mine. Have had it for a couple of years now. I have the vibration issue as well, but our laundry room is upstairs so I can't get around that. One problem I've noticed is that the push buttons are wearing off, since they are plastic, they have broken from wear and tear and I'm not sure how to repair.

Installing in wood floor homes
by: Anonymous

Warning-- do not install in a wood truss floored home. Wood by nature is a suspension and will transmit the vibration these types of washers have. Install on concrete or non suspension floor only.
I've had two warranty repairman tell me this after coming out to check my vibration problem out, it was so bad it would "walk" the floor.
They both told me they had calls like mine concerning front loading machine all the time.

Pretty good
by: Anonymous

I really like my new front loader washing machine. It is user friendly with flat "buttons" as well as dials. It has a start timer on it which has proved to be very useful so that we can save on energy costs by starting it long after we have retired for the night.

This machine has taken some of the more delicate clothing and washed it beautifully. The spin cycle gets the clothes very dry, which allows us to run the dryer on less time.

There are a couple of things that I don't care for such as there is always water that sets in the rubber seal by the door. If we don't leave the door open it begins to smell musty.

I also don't like the fact that if the detergent drawer is not in at least half way the liquid leaks out the bottom. Overall, though, it has been a wonderful purchase at the right price point. We purchased our unit at Lowe's Home Improvement one year ago.
