Whirlpool Duet Electric Clothes Dryer WED9200S

by A.W

I own the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer and it is the best washer and dryer combo that I have ever owned. I have a family of 5 and I have had no problem in keeping up with the laundry since purchasing this combination. I recently had a baby and have used the delicate and the normal cycles of the washer and dryer and the clothes come out perfect.

This dryer is great because it is a large front loader that I can dry several pairs of jeans in at the same time or 10-12 towels at the same time and they come out dry. My old dryer was an off brand that I had to run several times before it would dry a load of laundry.

The duet is quiet and has several cycles. You can set it to dry for a specific amount of time, or you can dry heavy, normal or light loads.

It is also very easy to remove the lint from this machine without any trouble. I don't use fabric sheets, I currently use dryer balls but both work fine in this machine.

I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new clothes dryer.

Pricey but useful features
by: Anonymous

I love our new dryer. I was worried that I would pay extrafor the steam feature, but never use it. But, I find myself using it all the time. It really does work on most dry-clean-only items and freshens them up. I find the smell much better than the chemical smell that comes from having clothes professionally cleaned. You can also use the steam setting to clean fluffy pillows. And, I run the dog bed through it often. We have a dog bed stuffed with styrofoam beas and the steam setting does not harm the stuffing and really wgets rid of the doggie smell. It also has a really great feature for bulk items like comforters-- on this setting, it 'bings' when it is time to turn the object inside out so you don't end up with super crispy outside and wet inside.

I've really enjoyed being able to clean the pillows and comforters much more often and more conveniently. My daughter and I are both allergic to dust and this has been a huge help to us. Two cons would be the price-- it was a bit more expensive that the other models we looked at. But, I have to say that this may be becuse I am really someone who looks for a bargain. It was a good price and well worth the money. But, the energy star discount and the new move in rebate special we got on it certainly added to my overall satisfaction with my purchase. My only other complaint would be the adaptive drying feature does not seem to make a difference.

I had a Neptune at our other house that would start out with high heat while the clothes were still very wet and then lower the heat soasto not damage the fabric. I got really used to how quickly that dryer was able to get through even a load of heavy clothes. Jeans take way too long to dry unless you put them on a manual setting, for example. The colors were really nice.

I went for the standard white, but was tempted by the red. The controls have a nice range of choices you can make and I really like being able to set the drier to settings that I know are really the best for the clothes. But, there are simple "make the choice for me" settings as well. So, you won't feel overloaded. All in all, a great dryer and glad I have it.

Reliable and saves evergy
by: Anonymous

PROS
- Sense mode for drying clothes which saves energy.
- Has been reliable in our time of ownership.

CONS
- Relatively expensive compared to less featured dryers.
- Limited color options.

We have owned our Whirlpool Duet dryer for over six years. We bought this when moving into a house that did not have either a washer or dryer and we bought a matching pair of washer and dryer. Since then we have moved three times and it has continued to work great, even though I didn't follow the moving instructions.

We bought the electric model, although there was a gas version available. Like it's matching washer it loads from the front. It has multiple modes of operation, the two main ones are a standard timed dry, and my favorite which is the sense dry. While the dryer is running, it constantly measures the humidity of the air. This allows it to only run the dryer for as long as it takes to dry the clothes, thus potentially saving a considerable amount of electricity during the years of ownership.

There are three settings for this dryness factor, which are easily selectable from the front control panel. In addition it also has a wrinkle free mode, which means that after it has stopped drying, it will periodically tumble the clothes a little so that they don't get creased before they are removed from the dryer.

In our six years of ownership we have not had any problems with this unit, which we purchased from one of the big box stores. As we have three young children, it is not unusual for us to run this three or four times a day. It is big enough that you can dry a king size duvet, saving money at a dry cleaners where you might have to normally have that cleaned.

It does come with a kit which allows you to change the door from a left to a right hand swing. All in all, we are very happy and impressed with this purchase. This is definitely a five star dryer.
