Whirlpool Catalyst

by Shele
(Hershey, NE USA)

I bought the washer machine from a local dealer in North Platte. I had done some research and felt this was a wonderful machine. I purchased it about 5 years ago and still have the machine. I love the machine as in that it is very easy for my son to help with laundry.

It has separate areas to put your liquids in such as the soap and fabric softener. Instead of the bleach going directly on the clothes it has a compartment to put it in. The warranty also was very good.

It covered all computer parts for 3 years and did cover the computer element when it went out. I can fit a very large load into the machine and have no problems. I feel that the machine does an awesome job of cleaning my hubbys work clothes. Which is a bonus considering he has a very greasy job.

One push of a button and your favorite cycle is up and going. The machine will also automatically shut off if it is off balance. It will display a code for you to check to make sure what the issue is.

The instructions booklet lists the different codes and what to do for each problem. So far I have only had issues with the balance due to my son not loading the machine full enough.

You also have an option of size of load and can also do a Catalyst wash which does a presoak and extra wash cycle to clean the clothes.

The best part is you can do an extra spin cycle to make sure they are a little bit less wet when loaded in the dryer.

Washer leaves black stains on clothes
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I've had my Whirlpool Catalyst Washer and Dryer for about 5 years. We don't have any children and do about 5 loads of laundry a week.

For the past 3 years I have been struggling with black marks that have been left on my clothes, especially my white and light colored items. These marks have been permanent on my clothing and I'm getting so frustrated!

I clean out the machine thoroughly, wipe it down, run it through a rinse/spin and I still end up with black marks/streaks on my clothes.

Today I went to put something on and it was so badly stained that I had to throw it away - an $80 shirt and I was infuriated.

We don't wash anything soiled with oil, etc. in the machine and I cannot see where these marks would be coming from.

Does anyone else have this same problem?

Thanks!
