Using hairspray on ink stains

Spray it first with hairspray (the kind your Grandma used works best), then wash as normal.

Best on Fresh Ink
by: Anonymous

I agree this method works best on fresh ink. I have had some good luck using Carbona brand, the one especially for ink, on older ballpoint marks that I find on my husband's work clothes.

Hairspray on carpets
by: kathyb

I have used hairspray to clean pet stains on carpets and it works wonders! My cat used to regurgitate her food on my rugs and it usually left a stain - hairspray was the only thing that took it out completely.

Does wrok, but rememeber . . .
by: Anonymous

This does work. but just a reminder, you have to spray it on the stain as soon as possible and you have to wash it IMMEDIATELY or the stain sets in. One time I sprayed the hair spray on a jacket while at work. By the time I got home and washed it the stain did not come out. A friend told me I should have waited until I got home to put the hair spray on.
