Test Stain Remover First

by Cindy
(Cranston, RI)

Testing stain removers first is an essential tip. I have learned this the hard way. One material that virtually never can be pre-treated with stain removers is khaki. It will get the stain out, but will leave a whiter spot where ever you applied the remover.

Good Thinking
by: Anonymous

I never think to test stain removals before I apply them to clothes because I assume they will all work. However, I have found that with certain materials certain ingredients in stain removals can make the stains worse or creat new stains.

You should always test the stain removed

I've also lost expensive clothing because I tried the stain removers without testing a sample. Be particularly careful with garments such as silk or suede which often end up more damaged with the introduction of the stain remover.
