Smelly Washer Solution

It seemed I had tried everything to remove a mold smell from my washer! Bleach, vinegar or baking soda didn't make any difference. I called the manufacturer and they told me to buy a cleaner that THEY sell! THE GALL! The cleaner (affresh) didn't help at all! I called back and they told me to order some more! We did with same results and we decided to get a different washer even though it was working fine! After reading a tip in Washing Machine Wizard I ordered a washer cleaner from smellywasher.com

It took only 1 tablespoon of this cleaner to remove the gross green buildup! It also removed the mildew smell from our new towels! They advise to use less detergent and fabric softener. I didn't realize it but the odor was even making our house smell because the laundry room is next to the furnace room!
Thank you Washing Machine Wizard

Solution that works
by: Fresh washer

I had the same problem, I started loosing friends because of smelly clothes !!

In spite of what I initially thought - the liquid detergent is a huge part of the problem. It may work for the environment - but not for the clothes. It disolves the fat, but can not keep it in solution and then it is deposited inside the washer....

where do you normally have to deal with difficult to remove fat..... ? The dish-washer....

I took a dish washer tablet, threw it in the washer's drum and ran a short 50 degree cycle. Worked magic. I also switched to powder so no more liquid detergent.

Good luck.

Affresh NOT working
by: Anonymous

I have had a smelly washing machine for over a year(front loading) and now after much reading on how to get rid of it, I realize I have been using way too much liquid detergent and fabric softener. Cleaned the lint trap dozens of times. Even left the door off to clean it after each wash in case it was filling up again from stuff in the drum (and it wasn't). Used bleach in empty wash cycles, both in the dispenser and directly in the drum. Even let it soak over night. Looking inside, you can see the brown scum on the outer part of the drum (looking through the holes in the metal drum). Used 3 discs of Affresh on 3 wash cycles in a row using hot (sanitizing) water and even added extra hot water to the last cycle and guess what? Still brown scum on the outer drum. I can see it and I can't get rid of it. Hoping seriously that the Smelly Wash solution works as good as everyone says because I am fed up with my HE washing machine!!!

Affresh and Smelly Washer Cleaner
by: Anonymous

Only the oxygenating action of affresh washer cleaner is proven to penetrate, dissolve and remove odor-causing residue. It works with your wash cycle to clean the entire washer — including the hoses, pump and beneath the washer tub. It's made and endorsed by Whirlpool Corporation and works MUCH better than Smelly Washer Cleaner! Who knows washers better than a manufacturer! Use one tablet per cleaning or all 3 tablets at once for worse problems.

Use Affresh
by: Anonymous

Try Affesh. Its a tablet that slowly disolves over a wash cycle. really bad smells - use 3 pucks in 3 consecutive wash cycles. Worked great

It really works!
by: Anonymous

I decided to take a chance and order the product of SMELLYWASHER.COM.

One capful solved the mold problem of years!

I used even less to take the smell out of my towels.

Now, about 3 months later, there still is no mold smell in the washer.

No More Stinky Towels or Laundry
by: Sandy From Wyoming

I ordered the smelly washer solution and it lasted one or two wash cycles and the smell from the solution was almost as bad as the mold.

I pulled the tray out and cleaned all the mold, started using about a 1/2 cup of dry tide and oxi clean mixture to wash. Went back to dryer sheets in my dryer, no liquid fabric softner. Have been doing this for about a month and no more smelly wash.

Smelly washer
by: Sharon

We have a front load he washer and when it gets stopped up it develops a smell all its own.
You have to take the door off at the bottom and screw the cap off to unstop it. Then run the washer with only white viniger, about 1 quart.

Smelly towels
by: Anonymous

I tried everything as well, but my towels smelled like mildew. The washer however, smelled clean. I just received the SmellyWasher product and, after just one washing, the smell is gone. I was amazed... What a great product and it was easy and simple to use...

Disgusting smells
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem and found there is a reason that the mold smell was developing in the first place. If your washer has a vent tube down from the washer then you should have no problems with smell, but what I found out in my older home was that a vent tube was not installed in the drainage pipe therefore some sewage backup was coming back into my washer when it ran. I had a plumber install a vent tube downward from my washer drain and the problem disappeared. It was absolutely disgusting thinking that sewage was coming back into my washer, but now my clothes smell clean and fresh every time. Hope this helps.
