Save soap and save power

by Shariffa Majdi
(Houston, Texas)

Two things you can do to help the environment are reduce the amount of laundry soap you use and wash almost exclusively with cold water. The lines inside the measuring cap are just suggestions and often you only need about half the suggested amount.

Try decreasing the amount of detergent you use a little each time until you figure out just how much is really needed to get your clothes clean. To save energy, wash almost all clothes (except when laundry is really soiled)in cold water. You will save energy, save money on you electric or gas bill and usually reduce fading too!

cutting back on soap
by: Anonymous

A lot of the detergents today are telling you to use less. I believe you can cut back even more to 1/2 of what they tell you. You can boost it by using Borax or plain old baking soda. Your laundry comes out clean and smells fresh and you are not hurting the environment. Baking soda and Borax contain no phosphates. It's also wise to use the least water and shortest time for washing, saving on electric and water.
