Samsung WF209ANW front load washer

Size does matter, especially for households that do a large batch of laundry cleaning week after week. But even though the Samsung WF209ANW is a little short in capacity compared to its 4 cu. ft. contemporaries, it still has features that make up for a good cleaning performance.

check mark

Product Overview

The WF209ANW is one of the many front-loading washing machines being offered by Samsung. With 3.7 cubic feet of capacity, this washer has enough room to handle most types of garments at sizable loads. With such a large capacity, users don't have to worry about having to run multiple loads at smaller sizes. Instead, they can save on your electricity and water by running fewer, larger loads. The simplicity and functionality of the Samsung WF209ANW is perfect for anyone who needs a quality washer at a relatively good price. Here are some of the main features of the Samsung WF209ANW 3.7 cu. ft. front load washer:

Extra Large Capacity

Aside from being able to fit more clothes into the washer, the extra large capacity of the Samsung WF209ANW also allows enough breathing room for the clothes. Even if a large load is thrown in, half or even three-fourths full, the washer still has enough room to give clothes a good and effective wash. It's important not to overload the washer, or else the clothes may not get a thorough wash.

Direct Drive Inverter Motor

- Another feature of the Samsung WF209ANW is a motor system that is designed especially to reduce the vibration and noise produced when in operation. The direct drive inverter motor doesn't make use of belts or gear, which helps in reducing the motor's sounds and vibrations. This powerful motor drives power directly to the washer tub, reaching spin speeds of up to 1,150 rotations per minute (rpm). This is a powerful motor that runs more smoothly and more quietly than many other washers in the market.

Vibration Reduction Technology

Aside from the smooth and quiet motor, the Samsung WF209ANW is also fitted with Vibration Reduction Technology. The machine is built with less moving parts, which means less vibrations, moving, and noise. The washer also makes use of springs and suspensions to keep the machine balanced.

EnergyStar Certified

The Samsung WF209ANW is certified by Energy Star. This washer makes little use of energy and water, that it may even qualify for tax benefits in some markets. The front-loading design of the washer means that it makes use of around one-third less water than top-loading machines. Also, the way that the water is carefully controlled throughout the wash ensures that little, if any, water goes to waste. The front-loading design also makes use of gravity to help tumble the clothes, in effect, using less energy than top-loading machines.

happy face

Advantages

The best advantage of the Samsung WF209ANW is the fact that it is a cost-effective washing machine. Consumers can buy this washing machine at around $700. That is relatively cheap, if you consider the fact that some of the front-loading machines in the market go for over $1,000. Aside from the good price tag, consumers also get to save on your utility bills. With such an energy-efficient design, they can be sure that this washer will take up less resources than many of the other washers in the market. Less power and water consumption by the washer equates to cheaper bills and environmental-friendliness.

Another advantage of this washer is its quiet operation. With the Vibration Reduction Technology, some consumers were able to place this washer at the main level of their home. This washer is also very easy to use, which makes it a great choice for anyone who wants a washer that is simple to use and easy to understand. The washer has eight wash cycles, three wash options, four temperature settings, four spin speeds, and three soil levels. All of the settings and options are controllable through the electronic panel and the LED display.

sad face

Disadvantages

Some people may find the price tag a bit steep, especially if they are more familiar with the prices of top-loading machines. However, it's important to take into consideration the savings that they can make with this energy-efficient washer.

The washer only comes in one color: white with chrome. This may be disappointing for those who are looking for a washer in another color, such as black or red.

check mark

Final Thought

The Samsung WF209ANW is a good, all-around washer that can handle most of the laundry needs. With a great design that is simple and practical, this washer may be able to provide just the right cleaning action for different laundry needs. If looking for a washer this is quiet, effective, efficient and simple, the Samsung WF209ANW is a good option.
check mark x

* quiet operation
* cleans well
* energy- and water-efficient
* cheap, compared to other front-loading washers
* has good number of settings and options

* comes in only one color
* doesn't have some of the advanced features of higher model washers
* may be pricey for some

washing machine problem NEW

The thing is that I have been using the Samsung washing machine wf209anw front loading from the past two years and after the end of the warranty, it got a problem in its washer spin. I have to call https://uaetechnician.ae/washing-machine-repair and have to bear the washing machine repair cost to fix that

Samsung Washer NEW
by: Anonymous

I bought this washer in 2010. I will never buy Samsung products again. Here are the main problems: 1. Not enough water to cover the load. I found this problem and tried to put less than half of a load of clothes in the machine each time. Still, the clothes, sometimes, were not even all wet after they were washed, and I had to put them back in the washer and rerun them. 2. Not clean. The clothes were not clean and have smell after they were washed sometimes. I basically have to hand-rinse every load three times after I took them out of the washer. 3. Vibration. When the spin cycle begins, the whole floor of the washing room, all the way to the living room, and the windows shake, even when I used the low spin cycle (I basically cannot turn on the medium and the high spin cycle). It vibrates so much that one of the walls near the machine has cracks. A few words about the water efficiency: I complained to a salesman that my washer didn't have enough water. I was told that manufacturers all had to make their washers following the government water efficacy standards. I wonder if those who made the standards had used washing machines. The fact is that I end up using more water because I have to re-rinse every load.

Piece of "you know what"! NEW
by: Marc

Never again with Samsung. Front of washer is rusting out just below the soap dispenser. Vibration reduction? Not even close. Since day one the washer walks all over the floor during the spin cycle. Regardless of the load, I have to closely watch until the spin cycle then open it and remove and replace the clothes. Most of the time this works but it's a real pain in the butt.
Guess I purchased a $800.00 piece of junk.

For 5 years it worked great, but right when our extended warrenty (sp) ended in June, it will not spin now. But before we used it a ton. Saved us on drying clothes because of the spin cycle and 3,500 gallons of water a month it saved. Will get it fixed and highly recommend.

"Mystery" solved
by: Anonymous

I loved my washing machine when I got it a year and a half ago. And then it would stop before the cycle completed and leave me with wet soggy clothes (rare - about 4x).

I would just restart the machine, and it would carry on fine. This weekend I discovered what was happening: If the load is unbalanced, and the machine can't adjust the load itself, it flashes the "DC" error (for about a second), then shuts off completely, and unlocks the door.

If you are not there to watch that happen, you would be stumped as to what was going on.

I think the error code needs to stay on the display so that the user knows what the heck just happened.

Not draining!!!
by: NOT HAPPY

I bought the Samsung front load washer WF209ANW/XAA and the matching stackable dryer about 4 years ago. About 1 year ago I had to order the repair manual for the dryer (different from the user manual), which I had to pay for, because there is no Samsung service person in my area. I had to replace the belt.
Now, I'm getting an error code (nd) on my washer. I've cleaned the debris filter and the hose. Looks like I'm going to have to pay for the service manual for the washer now. Gone are the days when appliances last 20 years. Maybe that's something Obama needs to look into for his "clean air act." Stop allowing crap appliances to be sold in the U.S. that only fill up our landfills. If I can't fix the problem myself I may as well buy a new one (and it will not be Samsung)because by the time I pay someone $70/hour to find the problem and then fix it I could have a new washer. I HATE SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!!

Check for Coins
by: NOT HAPPY

I'm the "Not Happy" customer that commented earlier. I'm a little happier now. Not with Samsung but with my skills (I am 7 months pregnant and repaired this myself). After taking the dryer off the washer (this I needed help with), I tore the washer apart. I found that a quarter had made it's way down into the line, which is why it wasn't draining. I ordered the repair manual and it said to start in the front of the machine, however, I could have reached this from the back. Under the wash tub, where the water starts to drain, is where I found my quarter. In other words, the next time this happens I will open the back, unclamp the hose and check there for debris before I take the dryer off and remove the front panel of the washer. Good luck to all :)

Samsung front loaded not draining-Solution
by: Dara P

Samsung front load will not drain.

Do it yourself solution. Pull the machine out and disconnect the main drain pipe. Run hot water through and clean it out completely removing all soap scum and reinstall.

Should drain completely after. I have to do this exercise every 4 months. No repairman needed.

Hope this works.

nf error is driving me nuts!!!
by: Anonymous

The washer has worked well for the past 2 years but as we speak I have had to manually restart the cycle because of the "nf" error. It used to only happen once or twice but it has been getting worse and now I have to restart it about 6 to 10 times!!! This is insane! I hate this washer and will never buy Samsung again.

WF209ANW SAMSUNG washer pilling clothes
by: FRUSTRATED

I can only wash 2 pairs of pants at a time and even then my clothes get ruined. How is this energy efficient? Repair men say they would never own a HE washer they said I should write to congress. Clothes need water not air. I use HE woolite . Ive always had clothes last years now they last me 2 washes. This is crazy. I have children and 2 pants at a time is unacceptable.I dont know about other brands but SAMSUNG is horrible they should stick to making radios.

No Oil
by: Anonymous

There is no oil in a front load washing machine. They are direct drive machines, either they have a rotor and stator (like a car) or a drive motor and belt. I'm not rating this particular model, just stating a fact for al front loads. If your clothes are stained with grease or oil is it something you are putting in the machine. Some types of fabric softeners cause grease stains and also if you do not clean the machine after ever 30 loads you will get soap build up which can cause dirt build up. Also, you must leave the door open when not in use otherwise you will get a mouldy smell, which makes sense as front loads have an air tight seal which does not allow for air flow like generic top load machines do. If you read your manual(s) for your appliances this information should be in there.

my negative review
by: Anonymous

Horrible costly machine. I had replaced my 28 year old white westinghouse front loader machine with a cheap top loader by whirlpool. My white clothes always came out perfectly white. This Samsung front load washer is horrible. My white clothes are the same dingy brown color the reviewers are talking about. Tide is my choice of detergent. Along with clorox bleach. Still dingy. Buy a estate brand 300 dollar top loader and have white clothes in 11 minutes instead of brown whites for 60 minutes. Hope it breaks soon. 3 years old so far.

Do not buy Samsung products
by: Anonymous

Both my washer and dryer have had repairs and they are just over one year old. Do not spend money on this overpriced garbage. Since we bought it , it has not cleaned the clothes well. My dryer stopped spinning and now the motor does not work on my washer. I have to wait a full week for a service tech to come to my home. That does not say much for Samsung since they are overbooked with repairs. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE! I want my good old fashioned machine back.

Samsung washer
by: dferguson

Washer will not fill up with water. It puts just enough water in to get the clothes, and then tubles - first one way and then 30 seconds later in the opposite direction. Contacted Samsung and they try to blame the problem on using too much detergent, not the right type detergent, etc. Blame everything on the user instead of the junk they sell. I'll never buy another Samsung product again. Clothes do not smell fresh - smell like they have been sitting in the washer for days after being washed. In addition to the fabric softerner, I have to use the scented crystals in order for the clothes to smell better. To get my white clothes clean, I have to go downstairs and use a Whirlpool to get them white, and not dingy brown like Samsung's product.

This washer is junk. worked okay at first. Thought it just might need leveled up. My husband made a stand. That didn't work. finally i got fed up and called about my warranty and a repair. They have been here 3 times. Ordered parts. The repair man told my husband that my washer will be all American by the time they are done and now Samsung no longer makes the hose needed to replace next part. Thank god where I bought it stands behind their warranty cause I'm looking for an American Washer!!!

Problems
by: Brittany

I bought my matching Samsung washer & dryer in March 2010 both have worked fine until about 2 months ago when the dryer stopped spinning. Thankfully it was just the belt. Now the washer has stopped spinning. It will attempt to spin for about 15 minutes without success then displays nd. I have ran all the tests that it provides in the manuel just for it to tell me everything is fine. I was told that if the washer was stored in cooler than 60 degree F weather that the oil in the washer would get too cold and freeze. Apparently this is written in the manuel but you cannot find out about it wonderful defects until you buy the product and bring it home and read the manuel. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

nf code
by: Anonymous

This seems to be a problem I've seen on here for many people. I too had the same same problem and there is a fix. After you have cked your hoses which are probably fine. Next thing are you using the hot water supply vavle. On most of the washers even if you don't use hot water to wash in leave it turned on. The washer has a sensor in it. Especially in the winter time it will pull a little bit of hot water to get the water temp up because straight cold is too cold. This was my problem after I put a hose on the hot water side and turned it on the NF code went away.

Poor.
by: Anonymous

First washer we got home, immediately started spewing water out of the soap fill hole, Lowe's came and exchanged it for a new one.

Fast forward 1 year. Was completely happy with how it had been working, until it started to pause and beep an error code of nF, we went through the technical manual and tried running the standard "tests" everything seems normal - except during a normal run I have to run downstairs 2-3-4 times per load to manually re-start it up again, which I am pretty sure takes more water than necessary for each load.

To add to the frustration, we bought a Samsung HDTV which has electrical problems now as well.

I hope someone reads my post PRIOR to purchasing anything from Samsung, and decides to steer clear before they waste their hard earned money.

Hasn't worked, not once
by: Anonymous

I like Samsung. I don't know why. Maybe for their small electronics. Large Appliances, nothing but frustration. Bought a side by side fridge/freezer and had three service calls before I left it behind at the old house.

Now knowing that Samsung has awful access to service professionals I bought a Samsung W210 washer. Hooked it up, cold hose, hot hose and plugged it in. Starts for about 20 seconds, locks the door and shuts down. Didn't even get to use it.

Called Samsung support. Quick, friendly and courteous. Yet totally unhelpful. Just like with my refrigerator, I had the sense that they knew what the problem was exactly but avoided it completely. "There will be a charge if not installed correctly," how can you not install a washer correctly?

I did my research, goodbye JD Power and asssociates best buy label, and tommorrow I'm taking it back to the store, less than 24 hours after I purchased the mutt.

Samsung, I so desperately wanted to use your products but on both a $1,100 and a $540 items you've, how can I say this, screwed me.

Loyalty only goes so far, with bad products again and again it's adidos Samsung. Goodbye, never again, not even for a TV or mp3 player.

"nf" error code & wet clothes
by: Susie Homemaker

Bought the Samsung WF409ANW front load washer model in January from hhgregg. Less than 3 months later it started shutting down in mid cycle and giving the "nf" (no fill) error code. Nothing but headaches and grief since then.

I had 4 service calls in less than a month (and the water "valve" replaced) and problems continue. Oftentimes the detergent dispenser drawer will be full of water at the end of a wash cycle. Now there appears to be a problem during the spin cycle because the clothes are still soggy when the machine is done.

hhgregg's customer service is NON-EXSISTENT. Now that the sale is complete and their 14 day return time has passed, they have left me to deal with this lemon of a washer on my own.

Instead of doing the right thing and offering to replace the washer, Samsung just wants to keep sending technicians out to look at it.

It's so incredibly disheartening and frustrating that no one seems to make a quality product anymore and no one wants to stand behind what they make or sell.

I'd think twice about buying Samsung again or purchasing anything from hhgregg!

Got the washing machine home, washed about ten (10) loads!! Then it completely stopped working. Now all it does is fill with water and then tumble for about 3 minutes and gives me a error message. The error message apparently means the washer is not able to put water in. Well thats odd because I can clearly see water entering the top of the tub. Called Samsung and complained, they even assigned a repair man who was on vacation. Now 3 weeks later I am still waiting on a part that the repair guy is not even sure will fix the problem. This is rediculous! In good faith I bought a Samsung washer, dryer and a refridgerator. Next time I will steer clear of Samsung products, and I do not recommend this washer to anyone!!

Extremely Disappointed
by: mom in ohio

I have had this washer since November. I was impressed at first, but it has quickly gone down hill. I too started to experience the problem with spinning out the water. First I would have to do an extra spin only every few loads then it just stopped. Now 3 months later I am still doing with Samsung to try to get it replaced. I would not recommend this washer to anyone. Not only because of the problems but also due to the extremely poor customer service that I have received. I can easily say that I have been rudely treated and have still not had the matter resolved. I will never purchase another Samsung produce again!!!

problem with washer
by: Beverly D'Alessandro

We have had our washer/dryer for a month. Everything great at the beginning, but for the last 3-4 washes, washer goes out of balance during the rinse/spin cycle. It continues to add a little water to rebalance and tries again. I have actually stopped the machine, took some clothes out and pressed spin only to make it finish. We have checked the level (perfect) and I'm not overloading. So far, the dryer is great, but I'm spending too much time checking on the washer. Help?

We bought the washer and dryer set just about a month ago; so far, so good. Although it takes longer to wash and dry; We are able to wash/dry larger loads than our old whirlpool set. I am very impressed with how bright and fresh smelling our clothes are. We had a repairman here last week to fix our refrigerator though, and he told me he will not work on Samsung appliances because he can't get parts and can't find a detailed manual. :(. Let's just hope they never break down!

Samsung Washer and dryer
by: David n MO

Last week I replaced an old small capacity stacked Whirlpool washer/dryer with this Samusung washer and companion dryer. One Advantage not mentioned is that these units are stackable and fit very nicely in the limited space i have available. The front loading is much more convenient than with the old top-load machine and while the dryer controls are a bit high my 5'2" wife has no difficulty operating it. The washer is unbelievably quiet (dryer too), and the vibration during the spin cycle is practically nil with the most being at the beginning low speed beginning of the cycle and it not being enough to shake off a glass of water.
Needless to say I'm impressed so far and look forward to years of service.
