Rowenta Autosteam Anti-Calc Anti-Drip Auto-Steam 1600-Watt Steam Iron number DZ-1700

This Rowenta Autosteam,anti-cal, anti-drip auto steam iron is definitely one of my favorite irons I have ever owned. It has so many features and setting, including auto shut off. It is so efficient and trustworthy and I call it my old reliable.

I have had this particular iron for about 2 years and absolutely love it. I am a self proclaimed perfectionist, so if I say this iron is a great one, it has to be.

This iron is so light weight and so easy to use that I have my 10 year old daughter helping me iron at times. One of my favorite features on this iron is the vertical steam that sprouts out when pressing the steam button.

This works so great on my draperies and on my dresses and suits. It is not like the other brand irons that offer this feature, I found this one to be more forceful and with lots more steam. Another feature I love is the stainless steel sole plate; this enables me to glide right over my clothes without any problems so smoothly.

The anti-calc is also a unique feature, that I have not seen on any other iron it doesn't allow for any calcium or lime build ups, so there won’t be any clogs and it will continuously work without problems. The Self-cleaning allows itself to flushes out loose mineral deposits, for lasting performance. One last wonderful feature I love about this iron is the Anti-drip feature.

I can't tell you how many times that I have had irons leak all over the place and make wet spots on the clothing when it is on the low setting. I can happily say that does not happen with this particular model. That in itself is worth all the gold in the world.

won't stay on NEW
by: eddie bobcat

my wife HATES the Rowenta Autosteam DZ1700. The auto off is too effective--that is to say it turns off too often--annoyingly too quickly.

Any time you stop moving it, even for a few moments to straighten shirt collar or to turn a piece over, the iron cools off and deposits some condensation, often causing a stain once it heats back up.

Anyone know how to lower the "off" threshhold?

The Best Performer NEW
by: Anonymous

I just don't understand the bad comments about the Rowenta DZ-1700 which I call The Great Performer. I can only guess when I purchased it, but it is well over 7 years of constant use to keep my uniforms starched & ironed to perfection. Through my many years of ironing (I love it!), I've learned that Rowenta irons WILL NOT SPIT and drip brown water on my clothes. For those with that problem...perhaps they don't use the cleaning feature. In my 69 years (61 ironing years), using a variety of irons, I've found no better performing irons than the Rowentas! (This comment was unsolicited).

Stay away.

Would not recommend this iron. Problems with steam feature, spurts of discolored water comes out and stains clothes. Keeps shutting off. Nightmare.

Rowenta 1700 is a piece of junk!
by: Sherri B

I bought this iron because of Rowenta's great reputation. What a mistake! The iron's cord has a short and refuses to work over 1/2 the time and may be dangerous. The steam control constantly turns itself off. When I tried to have it fixed, the repair guy showed ma a whole shelf of the same broken models-then tried to sell me a new one for "ONLY $10.00 more!" And that with a 1 year guarantee! My iron was about 3 years old and I had had trouble with it for at least a year. Please do not believe this Chinese cheapie is like the German Rowentas!

Just found a site that says it is 10 7/8" wide (so that would be tall, if it was standing up). Rats!

Anyone know how tall (or long it is?) And how wide and how deep it is? It must store in the Iron-Away. And I'd love to have this one, since it doesn't spot or sputter....

Use only bottled water in your iron.
by: Anonymous

Don't believe the anti-calc feature. It's a lie, like iron manufacturers have been telling us for decades, and it doesn't work. Our iron has that feature and it's now hopelessly clogged after only a few years. I can't believe big city Houston's water is any worse than anywhere else.

Use bottled spring water in your iron, as recommended in the Rowenta manual fine print. That works great.
