It does work!
by: Allie

Excellent idea! Putting hairspray on an ink-pen stain does indeed work. After blotting, just make sure you wash the item right away.

I know it sounds rediculous, but it works.

When I was first told to try this I ready to choke my son. He had taken the ink pen apart to see how it worked and hadn't realized that the ink would go through the paper he had placed on the table to the lace tablecloth beneath it. We actually had to treat it twice (with no dryer between washings) and although it wasn't completely removed you now have to look very hard to see what remains of the stain.

Thank you sooo much. I had this huge stain on my carpet in my room and nothing seemed to be getting rid of it until I read your comment about the hairspray and I thought I'd try it and it actually worked, now my carpet looks flawless.

This works!

I have found this method to work if you use the hairspray on the stain before washing it for the first time. I worked at a dry-cleaners and this was also the method they used! Just put the hairspray on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. The stain should be gone after you wash it normally!

Absolutely True!

Over the years, I have tried many different concoctions to remove ink from clothing and furniture. This one does a wonderful job with not much effort. Try it!

Hairspray on ink equals gone
by: cangel

As a teacher I have trouble with ink stains on white blouses. As another user said, if you put it on the stain before the wash, the stain breaks up and disappears. It does not work after a wash because the color gets imbeaded in the threads.

It works

You need to do it when the ink is fresh not after a wash, the hairspray will break it up and easier to remove,

No Luck With This One
by: Anonymous

I heard this tip years ago from my Grandmother. I have tried this a couple of times, but haven't had any luck with it. I wonder if it only works if you do right after it the ink stain occurs?
