Purex

by Lucrezia Dipaolo
(West plam beach, FL, USA)

My favorite laundry detergent is Purex. It is perfect for my budget. On the average week my family can easily give about ten different loads of laundry and Im guaranteed to make one bottle finish all my laundry. Purex is the laundry detergent that best fulfills my family's needs. It works hard to pull tough stains from my husbands dirty work clothes, and yet it is gentle enough for the expensive delicate material clothing.

I have kids so Purex is especially good becase it dosnt iritate their skin. When my son is outside playing in the dirt I have no doubts that Purex cant handle the stains he is creating. I dont have to worry about any color fades and I know my laundry will always be in good hands.

Purex has different fragrance's as well, so the laundry always smells fresh, and it's never a over powering smell either.

I highly recommend this product to any other mom's out there who are on a budget but dont want to sacrifice quality for a good deal.

Using Purex has made my life easier, I no longer have to waste time on scrubbing out stains by hand our making sure I spray them with spray-n-wash before I through them in the washer. Purex keeps my Whites white and my colors bright.

Stains too many of my clothes
by: Anonymous

I am finally switching. My family has lost so many nice clothes due to this product, Purex, putting stains on them--it is like the color fades out of areas on the article of clothing in random spots. I lost two new shirts this week. I washed them in cold water with other colored clothes--and it looks tacky, disgusting and so annoying. I teach so I like to look my best along with my family. I am finally switching and not returning to Purex. It is not worth the lower cost if I have to worry about which article of clothing will get it next. It ruined two of my sons dress pants which were brand new--worn only once. Purex should be a warning label on its product and inform consumers why this occurs so we can prevent it or they need to switch formulas. It stinks!

bleach spots
by: Anonymous

well I bought it for the price and washed a load of colors and it left bleach spots on one of my favorite tops. I then washed towels and they look faded and it left bleach spots on some of them too. I will not use it any more.

Both are not wonderful, each have problems
by: Anonymous

Just tried Purex free and clear with the triple enzymes, I have had tide for years. I am upset with Tide, the cost is getting to be to be too much.
Talked to a friend who recommended Purex. She said get the free and clear. My daughter was excited I bought it cause she uses it. I have noticed that the clothes I washed seem lighter. However, the towels I washed were not soft afterward. Kinda, hard and stiff, crunchy and seemed to have faded. I have a HE washer also. Did not have any soap left inside like sometimes I have with Tide. I also used half the recommended amount for both products. I not against it, but I am do not think Tide is as good as it should be for the price they charge. I do think Tide will lose some of its customers in this economy.

Stains on clothing
by: C.Adams

I have been using Purex for about 6 months and have been trying to figure out why I keep getting "light" brown "bleachy" spots on all my clothes thought it was bleach residue in the washer and started changing how I was my clothes. But I just bought a new wardrobe for a new job and was going to wash my new clothes so I cleaned out the washer. Ran a few clean loads through with no detergent or bleach. Ran my clothes and my brand new khaki dress pants that i spent good money on to purchase and have tailored came out looking like a blot test. Brown bleachy spots everywhere. Thank god it was just one pair of pants and not the entire load of laundry that came out that way since all my new pants were in one load and my new shirts. If I would have washed one of my new blazers or jackets and that would have happened i would have been out hundreds of dollars. I am removing Purex from my house and recleaning my washer!! Will never use this product again.

3 in 1 stains...... Forget it !!!
by: Florida Woman

I have been using 3 in 1 for several weeks..I thought at first convience..However....this product has ruined my clothes as well as my cotton sheets.. They leave an oil type stain on your items and this does not come out with any stain remover, something evidently is being used in this product to handle the convience. Myself, I'm going back to liquids...I can not afford a new wardrobe..So the only thing I have thrown out this weekend are my 3 in 1 's.

And what is worse, I cannot find a way to contact the company. Their webforms have errors when I submit, I can't type more than 5 lines of text. I have used Purex products for 12 years. NEVER will I buy another Purex product again. NEVER.

I have used Purex for a good many years
and also use it in cold water when ever I do
a laundry of clothes and I think it is the best

seen any brown spots. The price is excellent.

PUREX STAINS CLOTHES PERMANENTLY!
by: Anonymous

I just emailed them about this, then noticed other people complaining as well about the same thing . . .

It took me some time to figure out EXACTLY what was RUINING EVERY ARTICLE OF CLOTHING I OWNED with these horrible brown spots AND LEFT A IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE RESIDUE ALL OVER the inside of my NEW front loader washing machine - not to mention the dark brown stained pre-laundry cups . . . then it became apparent - once I switched brands, then tried the Purex again (after having to SCRUB THE ENTIRE INSIDE DRUM OF MY MACHINE BY HAND W/ AJAX CLEANSER)- still can't get it out of the 'drain' holes.

PUREX HE LAUNDRY SOAP TURNS EVERYTHING BROWN once it comes in contact w/ bleach . . . not even full strength bleach, but after the initial wash/rinse cycle (that uses soap), THEN the machine washes w/ a SMALL amt of bleach - BROWN BROWN BROWN SPOTS EVERYWHERE, THAT DO NOT EVER COME OUT!

I am disabled & very ill, for me to have get on my hands & knees to scrub the new washer drum was bad enough - then the fact that I lost everything I owned just last year, only to have to replace all of my clothes to have this happen? I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID! Maybe the Purex people have money to spare, but my limited fixed income on Social Security doesn't even cover the $1500/ month Rx drug costs, & now I have to figure out how I will ever replace all of the clothes they ruined. I unfortunately have a very serious illness & my immune system is affected so terribly that my body has become highly allergic to the smallest of things - in the form of very serious, massive hives that don't go away for months - even w/ steriod injections. Anyhow, all of my clothes NEED to be washed in bleach & when I needed to replace everything the 1st time, I bought them accordingly. NOW, EVERY SINGLE ITEM IS FULL OF PERMANENT BROWN SPOTS (apparently where all the drain holes are in the drum - where I cannot scrub the PUREX RESIDUE OUT).

These spots are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING to look at & am now afraid that the only way I will ever avoid ruining new replacement clothes (if I could ever afford them) is to BUY A WHOLE NEW WASHING MACHINE - even though the one I now own is BRAND NEEW - BECAUSE THE PUREX RESIDUE CANNOT BE REMOVED from every nook & cranny - where it continually ruins everything that comes in contact with them.

THE PUREX COMPANY (DIAL, HENKEL, Whomever) NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGE THEIR PRODUCT HAS DONE TO PEOPLE'S POSSESSIONS. Whether they realized it or not, it is/ has been sitting on their website comments long enough to be able to take notice. YOU NEED TO IMMEDIATELY CHANGE YOUR PRODUCT FORMULA AND REIMBURSE THE COST OF CLOTHES (yes, that are very costly) THAT YOUR PRODUCT HAS DAMAGED OVER & OVER AGAIN - FOR ALL OF US!

Just convenient
by: Nancy

Although the Purex 3in1 is absolutely convenient, it leaves a funky smell in my laundry & I end up using a Bounce sheet for freshness. It does not clean nearly as well as expected and requires a bleach product to have bright clothes. How I wish this product smelled & worked better. So convenient!

HE Purex
by: JC

I am finding that Purex is causing too many suds in my machine, causing it to stop half way through each wash and then has to be drained and restarted. Pain in the ass! I am not using too much either, in fact I am using 1/2 the recommenended amount. It sucks!

GREAT PRODUCT
by: Lydia

I have been using PUREX 3in1 for two weeks now and it is great. My husband can not stand anything smelly, and when the clothes come out of the dryer there is no smell and no stadic.

I love Purex
by: Jody

I love Purex as it smells so good. And gets my clothes so nice and clean. But the best thing about Purex is the price you can not beat the price. I do 2-3 loads of laundry a day and for the great smell and the cleaning power the price is fantastic it dontmake you go broke. It keeps money in your pockets.

Try something else!!
by: Anonymous

I was loyal to Purex until I got a GREAT sale on Tide. I used Tide with Bleach on a load of whites and I had not seen those clothes brighter since we brought them home from the store. I was truly amazed how much cleaner my laundry started to get. It just kills me because I know Tide is way more expensive but I want my family to look the best we can and I want our clothes to last as long as possible. I hate to say that there is no "cheap" way around this one but if you want your laundry REALLY clean, use Tide.

Oh, and for the record, I have 4 kids and am doing laundry nonstop.

Purex vs. Ariel
by: Anonymous

While I use Purex several times a year, I like it but find that Ariel soap can perform the same result. Then it just matters on the sensitivity of a person to certain ingredients to decide which works best.

Works for Me
by: Sharon

It cleans and removes stains beautifully. It also rinses very well. I have sensative skin and usually have to do a second rinse on everything I wear. I still rinse my undergarments a second time, but even then the rinse water is completely clear and I have no trouble not rinsing everything else. The one problem I find is that it does not whiten very well. But with a simple bleach for colors it is just as whitening as anything else. It is good cleaning for very little cost.

Purex
by: Anonymous

I have not found this soap to work at all for me. I cant stand the smell of it and it just does not clean my clothes. It is the cheapest soap I have found and that is why I tried it. I ended up rewashing all my clothes anyway. And they are not even really "dirty". Not sure how it would ever work on dirt.
