Prolong the Life of Your Dryer

by Lynda G
(Maine)

I had read somewhere a woman had dryer issues and called a repairman. He told her that using dryer sheets will eventually clog up your dryer lint filter with a film (the same film that coats your clothes so they don't cling)

He took out her filter and run water into it at the kitchen sink. It held all the water and nothing flowed through! No air flow either.

I did the same thing with my dryer's lint filter and it was somewhat clogged. Rinse under the hottest water that will come from your tap and let dry before putting back.

This will allow better air flow and prolong the life of your dryer. :)

You can also use a toothbrush to clear the filter faster.

Don't Forget the Vent!
by: Samantha

Another way to extend the life of your dryer is to periodically (about every six months) push it away from the wall and clean out the heat vent hose. In spite of the lint trap, some lint will work its way into the hose and reduce its effectiveness.

I Agree it does work

I Agree with this tip I have tried it and it does work just like she says here. I have found washing mine with Dawn Dish Soap cuts down the waxy build up.
