Oreck Cordless Speed Iron
I received the Oreck Cordless Speed Iron as a bonus gift when I purchased an Oreck vacuum cleaner. I have used the iron several times since I obtained it six months ago. The set-up was somewhat difficult due to a confusing instruction manual.
Initially I found the base difficult to use: the shape is awkward and it took some navigating for the iron to fit in properly. With practice this has gotten easier, and the base is a useful and safe way to store the iron during and after use. The metal heat plate heats up quickly and evenly, and presses different fabrics easily and consistently.
The steam feature is not quite as effective as other irons I have used (such as more expensive Shark or Rowenta models), but it does a good job getting wrinkles out of linen and cotton clothing items. I have not yet pressed any wool items but based on the performance with other fabrics I believe it will do an acceptable job. I really like the cordless feature of the iron and I have been impressed at the length of time it holds heat while in use and away from the base.
The unit has clear indicator lights to alert you when it is ready to use, and a convenient safety shut-off feature. In all, the Cordless Speed Iron is a nice product. I would recommend the iron, although I would urge Oreck to update the instruction manual to provide clearer illustrations and descriptions.Pros
