Never Dry Shirts

by Amy
(Louisville, KY)

I never dry any shirts. As soon as the wash load is finished I hang all shirts up to dry. For sweaters I lay them on a drying board.

Once the shirts and sweaters have air dried I put them in my dryer on the cool setting with a dryer sheet to "fluff" them up. By doing this I never have to worry about shirts shrinking.

Works on dress pants too!

I dry my husbands and my dress pants to avoid having them shrink and it does the trick. Works well for anything you don't want shirking really.

Totally Agree

My mom taught me to hang shirts up as soon as I pull them from the washing machine. This gets most wrinkles out.

If just hanging them up to dry doesn't do the trick, try hanging them in your bathroom while you shower. The steam should get rid of the rest of the wrinkles. :)

Inside Out

I also agree that it's a good idea to let your shirts air dry to prevent shrinkage. When you're fluffing them in the dryer though, you should turn shirts inside out if they have a graphic or applique on them. This will keep the design from fading over time!

Save your shirts
by: Anonymous

This is good advice. I totally agree and do this with all of my kids shirts. As soon as you dry any shirt it shrinks down one size. Not drying shirts keeps the color more vibrant too. Shirts last for more than one season this way.
