Miele Brand General Opinions for Washer and Dryers

by Never again
(VA)

I would NEVER purchase or recommend Miele washers - unless you want to spend over two hours washing a SINGLE load of laundry and spend the other half of your time waiting for the repair person once the warranty is up (computer problems and leaks).

I purchased the top of the line machines from my architect during a kitchen/laundry remodel and addition. He raved about them and since I have always had good luck with his recommendations in the past, I went with the $3,500 package (w/d).

I HATE them... there are just two people in my family and I spend at least two or three evenings a week doing laundry since the washer is SO SLOW!! If they had not cost so much I would drag them to the curb and go back to my Kitchenaids that never needed repair during their lifetime.

Also, if you happen to put anything with a slight bit of color in with light clothes, EVERYTHING takes on the "color" since there is so little water to dilute the bleed. Now my whites have pale green tinge from a very pale turquoise tee shirt.

If you value your time keep shopping!

Do Not Buy a Miele Product
by: Paul J Hanly

Here is the review I just did on Amazon of Miele:Do not buy this washing machine or for that matter any other product made by Miele.
I purchased this and it arrived nearly a month ago with a broken drain hose connector. Despite Miele's marketing claims of wonderful customer service, my experience has been miserable, and utterly sub-par as compared to my experiences with GE, Jenn-Aire, LG and other manufacturers (I have done numerous renovations in recent years and have purchased numerous large appliances). First, it was nearly impossible to reach their customer service department (waits on hold of up to 30 minutes). Second, after finally reaching them I was told it would take a week for them to send a tech to inspect the damage. Third, when the tech finally arrived he announced that he did not have the necessary parts and that they were not even in the U.S., but would have to be shipped from Germany. Fourth, I have received misleading assurances as to when the part would arrive: one customer service told me it would be "overnighted" from Germany and would be installed within 24 hours; when that did not occur I called again and a different rep told me he had no idea when the part would arrive nor when a tech would be sent to install it. Fifth, the customer service reps were downright disrespectful on the 'phone, suggesting that it was my fault for not discovering the defect immediately upon delivery (as if I am a washing machine technician capable of spotting the defect in an instant!!), and that I would "just have to be patient," as if I should not be surprised to receive a product in a broken condition. Sixth, unlike other manufacturers with which I have dealt, Miele has absolutely refused to replace the unit, but instead insists I wait for however long it will take for the part to arrive (it is now unclear to me whether the company even has the part in inventory!!). So, a month after delivery the machine sits uninstalled and broken.
In sum, deal with another company that (a) has a parts inventory in the U.S. and (b) takes customer service seriously: this company is all about getting your money and then ignoring you.
