Get a Mr. Clean all-purpose cleaning sponge (one of the white ones). Put rubbing alcohol on it and rub it over the stain. Keep rubbing until the stain comes off. This really works!!
It works but alchohol ruins your wood by: Anonymous
I think the alchohol is a great idea, however when you rub this on wood, it tends to take the stain out of the wood. It also leaves a white mark so I would not reccommend this. You can remove the wax by scraping gently or using a hot rag. It does get messy but it will not take the shine or luster or color from your wood.

Carefull Scrubbing by: Anonymous
I have found that this method does work, however this is only for light stains, the more stubborn harder to remove stains provide a differetn challenge.
Although this method does work and will remove stubbonr stains
I have found that the harder you scrubb to remove the more stubborn stains then the polish/waxed/stained finish of the wood normally is removed also leaving you with a patch were your original stain was!

Magic Eraser Might Remove Finish by: Anonymous
I have tried this also and found that if I scrub too vigorously, it does take the finish off wood. Another related method is to use toothpaste. Same effect, may be cheaper.

Be careful while using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser by: Anonymous
If 'the white one' is a Mr Clean Magic Eraser be careful while using it on fine wood finishes. It will rub the finish off of a wood piece as it is abrasive.
