Maytag LAW9406AAE

My husband and I have owned our Maytag Washer (Model LAW9406AAE) for 3 years. I don’t know how old it is, though, because it came with the house we bought. I am very pleased with this top load washing machine. I can fit a pretty big load of clothes in it and they come out reliably clean each time. We have never had any problems with this appliance – no funny smells or sounds or overflowing water.

It has settings for a mini to super sized load of wash and 4 temperature settings (hot/cold, warm/warm, warm/cold, cold/cold). I usually cold water wash all our clothes to avoid shrinkage, and they come out clean. I use hot water for our towels and sheets, and this washer gets pretty much everything out that our 2 year old son gets on things.

There are various settings within “regular”, “easy care/permanent press”, and “delicates” that allow you to specify how you want your laundry to be done. One minor complaint I have is that the clothes are much damper after the spin cycle on the easy care or delicate settings than on the regular setting, but I don’t know if that could be true of every washer and not just ours. So I just set them to spin again. There is also a setting for saving water, though I admit I’ve never used it. You can set it so that the washer drains after rinsing or saves the water to use to rinse again.

Since this is an older model (though as I said, I’m not sure how old), I think my only concern is that if something does go wrong with it, it will be difficult to find replacement parts. I’ve searched online and there do seem to be a few places where you could order them, but you’d also need to find someone who knows how to replace any belts, tubes, etc. that aren’t working (unless you have some technical knowledge yourself).

Over all, I’m very pleased with this washing machine and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is searching for a slightly older washer, or who is looking at an apartment or home that may have this type of washer included.
