Maytag Dryers Consumer Reviews

Choosing the right clothes dryers can be an important decision. These machines have been vital in our busy lives when hanging the clothes “out on the line” is no longer an option but their high energy usage and their overall drying abilities can make a big difference.

Of course, one of the primary names in dryers has been Maytag so below you’ll learn more about the company and their dryers to determine if they might just be behind the right clothes dryer for your needs.

Maytag Dryers

If you’re looking for dryers, you’ll have to try pretty hard to find a larger selection available than those at Maytag. Both electric and gas dryers are available, as are washer/dryer combinations. The washer/dryer combinations (also known as stackables) are a good choice for people who have limited space for their laundry equipment. The only difference between the two models available is that one is gas and one is electric. The latter is about $60 cheaper. Costs for these units are around $1,200.

Maytag Electric Dryers

About a dozen electric dryer models are available from Maytag. Although the primary color offered is white, some come in other variations. Matching washers can be purchased for most of the units as well. Prices vary a great deal. At the low cost end is one of the Centennial electric dryers with a price tag of about $430.

The unit has seven cycles but only 3 different temperatures to choose from. Additionally, it comes in only one color: white. If you’re looking for a basic dryer with an affordable price tag, this is a good bet.

If you spend a few extra dollars, however, you can purchase the Bravos electric dryer for $750. This unit comes with some options missing from the cheaper unit, such as a heavy duty and a quick dry option. A light also comes up to alert you to check the lint filter. This unit also has 5 different temperature settings.

Maytag Performance Series

At the high end of the electric dryer spectrum, you’ll find the $1,400 Performance Series front load steam electric dryer. Two color choices are available for this model but that’s only one of the benefits of upgrading.

You’ll have an automatic moisture sensor, up to 11 cycles, the check lint filter light, and five different temperatures. More importantly, you can use steam to dry or refresh you clothes. This is becoming an increasingly popular and more eco-friendly option on today’s dryers.

Of course, you may not want to choose an electric dryer, a gas-powered unit might be more in keeping with your needs. In that case, you’ll have thirteen different options from which to choose.

Remember that gas models do typically cost more than their electric counterparts. A similar Centennial model to the one describe above cost $500 compared to $430 for the electric version. Likewise, the top-of-the-line steam unit cost an extra $69.

Maytag Gas Dryers

Besides the different power sources, the gas dryers have many similar features. For example, a $620 Centennial dryer model included a moisture sensor which would adjust the drying time to accommodate the wetness of the laundry.

With 12 cycles and up to 5 temperatures, this unit offered a number of useful features for the average consumer. The Epic Z model cost just under $1,100 but came in three color choices, offered wrinkle control settings, included a rapid dry setting, had a cool down period, and incorporated a lint checker reminder light.

Maytag Bravos Steam Gas Dryer

For only $200 more, the Bravos Steam gas dryer was available. While it included most of the same features as the Epic Z, it also included the highly desirable steam drying technology, as well as settings for bulky and delicate items (features not found on the other two units). Like the Epic Z, the Bravos model was also available in three different colors. However, it also included five different moisture settings for greater drying control.
