maytag Bravos

by Sandy
(Payson, AZ)

I do NOT recommend this machine. If you want a front loader, get a front loader that loads in front. This one has torn buttons from our clothes, it ties pants in a knot, and it rips more fragile clothes.

We bought ours at Home Depot about 4 months ago. They told us that we would get $200 from the town for buying a low water machine. After installation, they then told us that we had to submit a request ahead of time in order to get the incentive from the town. We were scammed by the Home Depot salesman.

Unfortunately I didn't send it back right then.
(I should have)

I see these "top loading - front load" low water use washers becoming obsolete and going off the market as soon as this fad is over.

MAYTAG BRAVOS HOME DEPOT RIP OFF
by: Anonymous

I bought the Maytag Bravos machine a year ago, and it is the WORSE washing machine I have ever had. All of the dirt and grime gets behind the lid with no way to fix it and all inside of the ringers in the tub, which you have to hand clean after every wash. The FI error beep goes off every load....I have tried everything to fix it, but its obviously a fluke. The clothes are always very wet after spinning. You ahve to dry them twice. I tried to return the machine to BEST BUY the next day after purchase but they refused and were extremely rude. I can assure oyu that I will never purchase any other appliances from HOME DEPOT, as They DO NOT stand behind what they sell.

Twists and Wrinkles Clothes
by: Anonymous

I hate how this machine wrinkles the clothes. Sheets end up in a huge knot. Everything, even t-shirts, have to be ironed. I don't recommend it.

Wrinkles
by: RMc

I had a front loader and the problem was mold and mildew. Did heavy research for the Maytag Bravo. great machine for washing but I can not believe how much more work this machine has given me. I now have to Iron and I hate to Iron. Does not matter when you take the clothes out I always have to iron shirts I never had to iron before. Another problem, I can not seem to find the tablets that you are suppose to use for the cleaning cycle. Did I tell you "I HATE TO IRON". If you hate to iron don't buy this machine. Wish I had the maytag repair man coming to my house to iron!!

Bells, whistles & dirty clothes.
by: Anonymous

If you are mesmerized by bells and whistles, buy it.

If you like clean clothes that survive the wash cycle, buy something else.

All our clothes are becoming a gray dingy color and many have been discarded after a wash due to the destructive nature of this machine.

great customer service
by: Jenny

pros
- Larger loads of laundry
- Fast and efficient
- Very quiet

Cons
- Pants will knot up.

I started washing my jeans completely seperate from any other clothes and shaking them out after the washer and it seems to work. I don't think this is a typical problem, but I had an F1 error code start showing up just after a year of having them.

It was an annoying problem to have. It would stop and I would have to restart (4-6 times) in the middle of a cycle. Come to find out it was a control board problem. After calling maytag, they were at my house the next day and replaced the part for free. So the product for me... good.. then bad.. then back to good.

One great thing about maytag you can rely on customer service and taking care of their problems.

Wrinkles the clothes
by: Freyda

I really did my homework before I purchased my new washer (and I even read the whole manual before using it once I did buy it).

I agonized over all the choices and types and finally chose the Maytag Bravo. I opted against a front loader because I read so much about the noise, vibration and issue with mold/mildew.

The Bravo does have lots of wonderful features - the delay feature, extra rinse cycle, oxy clean cycle and more. The clothes are coming out clean. It's just huge - I can fit a gigantic load of laundry in, far larger than my old traditional washer.

I've been using the machine pretty much daily for the past month and I really like it, but I have one big complaint: the clothes are coming out REALLY wrinkled, and staying that way even after going through the dryer.

I'm loading the washer according to the directions (sort of plopping in clumps rather than wrapped around) but still, big time wrinkles. It does have a wrinkle guard setting, which does help a bit, but wow, I've never seen such wrinkled pants.

So, overall: great washer if you like ironing.

This machine is a piece of junk
by: Anonymous

I hate this machine. I was told what a wonderful washer it was. It does large loads, saves water and energy. It would be a great help for a mother of 8 children. This machine twists the clothes so much that it is difficult to get the wrinkles out. I have used fabric softener for every load but it doesn't do any good.

Many of the clothes now have to be ironed because they cannot be worn in such a wrinkled state. I have to run to my washer as soon as the buzzer goes off to let me know the load is done. Then I shake the clothes out trying to get some of the wrinkling out. If you left the clothes in the machine for any length of time they would be even worse. I spent extra money because it would help me with all my laundry.

This machine has made it worse. I am shocked that a good company would put such a piece of junk on the market.

Higher price for higher quality
by: Kelly

My husband got me the Maytag Bravos washer and dryer for Christmas. Boy, what a godsend! I'll admit it, I'm a tech freak, a geek, a nerd, what-have-you, so I fell in love with this washing machine. It has so many settings! It doesn't let its settings get in the way of it's sleekness, however, which sometimes happens with poorly planned devices.

Every time you open the lid you are greeted with easy-to-love musical tones, and a different tone when you shut it down. I was amazed that the designers payed attention to such a small detail like that.

The washer, despite all these features, is actually quite easy to use. Each corner of the machine allows for your product of choice – bleach, detergent, fabric softener, and Oxy Clean. That's simple enough, right?

As for the settings themselves, they covered all the bases, AND they are highly customizable. The machine can do bulky items for you, whites, delicates, and more. You can change the temperature, how fast the spin cycle goes, whether you want extra cleaning agents or fabric softener.

Another nice setting is the Clean Boost setting, which will maintain a constant temperature during the wash to help clean things better. There's also an extra rinse feature you can turn on. Another amazing setting makes the washing machine clean itself! Imagine that!

All in all, the Maytag washer is sleek, well designed, has tons of functions, and is easy to use. I love it, my husband loves it, and I get so many comments from friends and guests about how nice my washer looks.

About the only downside is price, but isn't it always? At least in this situation, though, it's well worth the money. You may be paying a higher price, but you are getting a higher quality product.
