check mark

Product Overview

This LG machine is a sleekly designed front-loading washer, which features dual LED displays and Intelligent Electronic Controls, which master the 4.2 Cubic Foot capacity washing machine.

It has a steam wash system, which will help any family with allergies because it virtually eliminates the allergens and with a stainless steel basket to eliminate the possibility of rusting, your clothes should always look great coming out of the washer.

The unit appears to work as great as it looks and it seems to be a reliable unit from all accounts. That means you should get a great value for your dollar when you purchase it.

Cons

• Great design

• Economical

• Many cycle options

• Great spin cycle get the water out of the clothes

• Can Wash big loads

• Not available in many colors

• Expensive

• Door not reversible

• Slight vibration at high speeds

• High price

Beautiful Design

The design is mentioned in almost every comment. People love the way that it looks. It is touted in the reviews as being attractive and even sexy. The other thing that seemed to be a common mention was the fact that it was a water saver and an energy-conserving unit making it friendly and inviting to the many folks that are seriously looking to go green.

9 Wash cycles

It has a wide range of cycle options so you should never be unable to find the perfect one to handle your specific needs and it is a quiet unit when operating. The clothes come out cleaner than with some other units and they spin out to where the clothes are not still sopping wet when they are removed which means less dry time.

Consumer Negative Aspects

On the negative side of the reviews there were not truly a lot of things that were worth mentioning. The lack of available color options was the biggest and most common complaint. That was shadowed by the fact that most people thought it was a little bit over priced.

The size made it not necessarily easy to fit in every location and a few folks mentioned that the design made clothes fall out when transferring from the washer to the dryer if they were not careful.

The only other common thought was that the door was not reversible so you have to take caution when looking to purchase to make sure it will work in your own laundry area.

Final Thought

To summarize the thoughts of the people who have purchased and own this unit using it in real life situations.

It is downright good looking to the point of almost being sexy and the color choices while not wide are certainly acceptable featuring the basic colors most people already have, it seems to save a lot of money on the energy end of the scale, not enough to pay for the unit but certainly enough to make it attractive.

While it may cost you a little more than a similar unit, it should be worth it to have a piece that is well made and looks good when you stand back and admire it. After all, laundry is a chore; you might as well enjoy it as much as you can.

stinks
by: Anonymous

I have had the washer about a year and my whole laundry room smells and every part of the washer mildews and has mold in it. I have to clean the water from the hose about twice a week or it starts stinking like rotten eggs. I am on county water so I know it isn't the water. Can't wait for it to break so I can get a normal washer.

large and great design
by: Anonymous

I purchased this washer a few months ago and I love it. I purchased it to replace my old top-loading washer.

I've had no problems with the LG and thus far, it has worked beautifully! At first, I was a bit intimidated by this washer as it does a lot of things - to be honest, I've not used all the functions yet, but the basic ones work very well. Considering that it is a steam washer, the clothes come out very fresh smelling and stain free.

Considering I have a young son, I need something that is tough on stains. A great thing about this washer is that it does not have an agitator, which saves wear and tear on clothes, especially sweaters and delicates. This washer also comes with the "Allergiene" cycle which purports to reduce allergens, along with a great “Sanitary” cycle.

The 4.2 cubic feet capacity is more than roomy enough to wash a queen-sized comforter. The only negative thing (and it’s a minor thing) that I have to say about this is that it is bigger than a typical top load washer, but as long as you make sure that your space is big enough, you should be fine.

The final thing that I like about this washer is that it comes in a beautiful, shiny red or the more typical white.

Worth the money
by: Fred Nader

We bought the LG WM2487H because it looked great in the laundry room but was pleased to find out by the installers that it uses he soaps because it used less water.

The machine continued to impress me with the wide variety settings that you can choose to wash with. My favorite is the sanitary setting with extra rinse(tub clean) and stain cycle however it does take about 2 hour and 40 minutes once its done with the final spin cycle the contents are always practically dry and the buzzer is more a ring tone than the usual loud noises.

The top loading soap and bleach as well as room for fabric softner and we add oxyclean. Since buying the washer recently we have used much much less soap.

The steam cycle is also pretty decent though it could be faster taking 20 minutes to complete the cycle and comes with risk of burning if you stop the cycle early.

the only thing moderately annoying is that when you was towels or heavier fabrics the when it gets to the spin cycle you can feel the shaking upstairs.

All in all I would say it was well worth the money, it also has base drawer for an extra cost that we chose not to buy

Sleek design
by: Anonymous

The LG Tromm is a front loading washing machine and has a very sleek and stylist design. The thing i like about it is that it uses less water than a top loading washing machine and uses low sud detergent. It's very quiet and at times I forget that I even ran a load of clothes. Even the spin cycle is quiet which always a plus for anyone who hates loud spin cycles.

In fact, it weighs less than your average washer which is not a problem if I have to move from place to place. It's energy efficient and I have a LOT more years on it. Instead of me choosing the size of my load, the machine will actually do it for you by spinning 3 times in two different directions.

The extra large door makes it easy for loading and unloading those bulky pieces of clothing and it's so easy to clean out the drum afterwards as my past machine have collected mold. For those of us who have kids, there is a child lock on the face menu and also the drum door has a lock than can only be opened when prompted. This washer is ideal for those who love to save on energy and it comes in many colors, not just one, though you do pay more for other color choices.

Don't even hear it running
by: Christine

I purchased my washing machine back on June 3, 2007. It is fantastic compared to what I had before it. I bought the washer and dryer for LG at Home Depot. They came and installed both of them. I needed stackable ones and they came and set it all up for me. The washer is amazing! It has many neat features on it such as, the steam cleaning option. I have used this feature several times before going out. It takes 20 min. for the machine to steam your shirt or pants. Once finished, the clothes are always wrinkle free!

That is only one of the best features. It also has other features like for Baby Wear, Sanitary, Bulky/Large, Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash and Speed wash. All options allow for many choices when it comes to washing your clothes. Each setting is very simple to get started and complete.

I believe that this is the best washer I have had. When it is working, I don't even hear the washer running. In the dispenser of the washer there are three different cups. One for your main washing detergent, one for your liquid bleach, and the other for your fabric softener. This washing machine is so easy to maintain as well. The booklet that you have gives detailed directions on how to maintain. There is also a Customer service number that you are given for use on technical questions.

The representatives are very informative and patient. I had called one time because I overloaded the washer with a King size comforter and sheets. They walked me through the steps on how to unlock and unload the contents. I learned from that experience. I have not had any problems with my LG Washer and I would recommend this to others because of its ease of use and convenience.

Worth every penny
by: Anonymous

I just bought this washing machine a few weeks ago, and it was worth every penny. LG came out with a product that actually makes laundry fun. From the easy to load front to the music it plays to let you know it's finished. It also has a timer that lets you know how many more minutes till it's completed.

I have a family of four and it handles all our laundry very well and washing shoes are a breeze. I couldn’t resist the cherry red color these came in and I also got the peddle stool which makes it easier to load and unload our laundry and store my soap, softener and bleach.

I’ve also noticed the smell of laundry soap stays in your clothes unlike a regular washing machine. I also like the pull out tray to put the soap, softener, and bleach into. It makes it easier and less messy.

Another great benefit is it uses so much less water and electricity; I am for once looking forward to my water and electric bill. This machine actually generates some of its own electricity when it is washing our clothes. So we get to help the environment as well.

The washing machine is also so much quieter then other machines I’ve had in the past, where if you don’t load them perfect they will start to shake or make these horrible sounds. With this being a front loader you never hear that awful racket no madder what you put in it. The best part is you don’t have to worry about how you load it just shove it in there and push a couple buttons and you’re ready to go.

I also love the steam cycle I can put all my delicates in this machine and wash them with out taking them to the dry cleaners, and I can also put my king size comforter in it and wash it with out having to pay for it to get washed.

There are also some nice features such as a child lock, I use regularly because I can just see my Two year old pulling it open with water in it.

If your looking for a great washing machine I highly recommend this product, It’s worth the money.

Seems complicated but i like it
by: Anonymous

I bought this washer to replace a less expensive, non-HE model that came with the purchase of my house. I selected the cherry red color because it was unique and at the time only carried by one supplier. It's a front load model with plenty of space in the wash bin.

At first the washer seemed complicated for those that are used to mechanical timers. After using the washer a few times it became second nature to get the settings correct. The options are numerous, however I only use the regular wash, the delicate cycle, baby cycle, and the steam cycle.

As someone who loves to leave clothes in the dryer, the steam cycle comes in really handy. Flicking the dial to steam and pressing the button on the side of the display panel to select the number of garments then pressing the "Play/Go" button puts the washer into steam mode which will get out any wrinkles from being left in the dryer as well as freshening up anything that's not dirty enough to wash.

The baby cycle is used to get out any tough stains. It's meant more for the little one's clothes, but I've found it useful in getting out stains like mustard or chocolate.

I've recently moved and discovered this washer is very heavy. Make sure if you are going to move it up or down stairs that you have the appropriate equipment to avoid any unpleasant spills.

clothes don't smell clean
by: Anonymous

I hate my LG washing machine. The machines are beautiful, but buyer beware. The clothes never smell clean. Oh how I miss my 20 year old Kenmore! My two sisters also have LG's and we all agree. Clothes never smell clean. I have great water, it's not the water. My kids are always asking me if I washed their clothes! We leave the door open after washing to air out the machine, add bleach to all the loads (color too), and clothes still smell. Buy only if you want smelly clothes.

no more dry cleaners
by: Anonymous

This is a great washer. It gets my clothes cleaner uses less water and electricity then my old one. It has a steam fresh cycle so I don't have to take my clothes to the dry cleaners. It's large enough to wash a king size comforter. It also plays music, rater then that annoying buzzer most washers have, when it is finished. I highly recommend this product to anyone. 1.)
