Laundry Organization
The laundry may not be the most enjoyable thing to do but it sure is a necessity of life. Being organized in the laundry room may not make it more enjoyable but it sure will speed the work up. Give yourself some time to adjust to the new system. If everyone in the family does there part it saves time for all leaving more time for family fun. If you have a schedule for dong the laundry, such as whites on Saturday or jeans on Tuesday, make sure the family do their part to arrange their laundry. Different colored baskets or hampers can be useful – show them where things should go. You could go a step closer and inform them where the stain stick is held, then they can pre-treat difficult stains before of laundry day. Keep all your fabric softeners and detergents stored close to the washing machine. A shelf near to them is easy to build if you don’t have one there. Set up a schedule to clean out the vent areas of the dyer – perhaps put a white board or calendar up to remind you. One clever mom put a photo of dry clean only items of clothing like her husband’s smart suit and taped the pictures to her whiteboard in order to remind her that these items shouldn’t be put in the washer. A Portable clothing rack with a nice supply of hangers is useful to set up so clothes can be brought strait from the dryer and hung on the hangers. Much time will be saved later when you come to do the ironing. Boxes and baskets strategically placed in the laundry room are useful to place clothes which need to be fixed, out of season or just become too small. The special boxes used to store the out of season clothes can be taken out at the right time and sorted on laundry day as the new out of season clothes get put into storage.
