Very disappointed in the life of the machine. Purchased in March 2000 for $1000.00. I was told I would save money on soap and water but there is no saving when the machine lasts only 8 years. Sears is saying that I have had good service from this machine.

My two previous machines lasted 20 and 18 years. There are only two people in the house now, not the family that I raised on the other 2 machines. There has been NO savings. Sears sales and customer support say I should have used HE soaps.

I was not told to do that. According to the manual it says if low suding detergent is not available, reduce the amount of soap and that is what I did. I checked out Walmat for HE soap yesterday and there were only two brands availabe, Tide and Sunlight. I do not like either.

I am considering going back to a top load.
