KENMORE FRONT LOADER W/ECO CYCLE

MY KENMORE IS ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR AND IS NOW BROKEN. WE PAID 70.00 FOR A TECHNICAN TO TELL US THE NECK BROKE OFF THE SPINDLE AND THAT IS WHY THE DRUM IS NO LONGER SITTIN PROPERLY IN THE MACHINE.

HE SAID THAT ITS A COMMON WEAR AND TEAR PROBLEM BUT THE WAY THE MAKE THE MACHINES NOW IS NO LONGER AN EASY FIX. HE SAID COST TO FIX WILL BE 450.00. AND I ONLY PAID JUST OVER 520 FOR THE MACHINE . SO NOW I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW ONE. BUT MAYBE THEY SHOULDN'T MAKE IT SO COSTLY TO FIX. IT WAS AN ECO CYCLE.

HERE I AM TRYING TO SAVE MONEY AND GOT A FRONT LOADER AND 5 YEARS LATER I HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE. 100 YEAR FOR WASHING LAUNDRY IS CHEAPER THAN ONE SUNDAY AT THE LAUNDRY MAT COSTING ME 7.50 FOR 4 LOADS AND THE GAS AT 3.68 A GALLON TO GET THERE.

NOT TO MENTION THE TIME WASTED TO DO IT. THANKS KENMORE MAYBE YOU WILL GET MY BUSINESS FOR THE NEXT ONE, THO I AM REALLY GONNA DO MY RESEARCH THIS TIME.

Kenmore eco cycle NEW
by: Anonymous

You know you can change the spin speed. You don’t have to spin on jet spin. That being said....Sears service, prices, customer care, and quality all Suck more than a 79’ Pinto. I see no future for Sears or Kmart.

Kenmore (Samsung) front loader NEW
by: Linda Park

I wish I'd never, ever bought the Kenmore (Samsung) front loader. We have had it a month. Although the clothes seem to come out very clean, the banging is unreal. We live in an apartment block and I don't think the neighbours are going to like this. We had a technician come to tell us it was normal, he took the top off the machine to show us the mechanics and although we understand what is making the banging and squealing (while going into a spin cycle) it doesn't help the problem. The sides of the machine are of the very thinnest material, and you can visually see them vibrate. We will try to place Styrofoam between the washer/dryer but we are very, very disappointed with this product. I don't see why they got good consumer reviews.

loudest washer ever!! NEW
by: candie

I wish I would of found this sight last night. Just bought a set today. First the dryer plug in didn't match up, going tomorrow to see if I can get an adapter. Then I tried the washer with a very small load. LOUD on final spin cycle. I thought it was broke but after reading all responses prob going to try resell it and put my money toward a new set (like I told my husband 2 days ago and he wanted to save money, you get what you pay for and sometimes less). I'm going feel bad for the next person but warn them ahead that it's loud as a plane if not louder. I live by an air force base and no planes seem that loud at all.

model 417.43142200 should be recalled
by: Eric Johnson 93614 641-6102

So loud it scares the dogs, sporadically over filter drum with water flooding the laundry room and kitchen. can't believe it doesn't have some kind of overflow protection device from this. sometimes does not drain water from the drum.I have had Sear Repair men come out and look at it unable to do anything and completely refund my service call money.

Black Streaks, a Jetplane, a Bang, a Flood.
by: JETPLANE

My clothes (especially my whites) have also been getting black streaks on them. Last week, The final spin cycle sounded like a jet was taking off, getting faster and faster, then BANG! Not sure what that noise was at the time, so I took a chance and I ran another load of clothes to try and figure out where & when the noise was. It was a little more noisy, then I left the room briefly and came back to a flooded bathroom. After pulling off the back metal panel, I saw where the water was coming from... a hole (approx 4"x5")in the back of the washer and could see the drum. After reading all the comments and many similar experiences, it sounds like my washer has bit the dust mechanically like many of yours. I'm frustrated to hear that no one has had any help. Even though our warranties are expired, then possibly a recall for this unexceptable defect? I don't have a laundromat in town and I'm not sure yet how I'm going to replace my washer. I'll let you all know if I make any progress with any help from Kenmore, Sears, or Consumer Complaints. Post your comments if you have had similar problems.

Kenmore Eco system front load dryer
by: Owner of kemore dryer

Seems I'm not alone, 6.5 years in and the spindle on my dryer sheered off...no wonder kenmore's warrantee required an annual checkup...miss one and warrantee is null and void. My parents have a 25 yr old dryer...mine died after 6.5 yrs...will never buy from kenmore, fridgidaire or sears again. LG just gained another customer thanks to their shoddy products.

My Eco Cycle just died of the same exact thing. How I long for the years ago when my grandma's Kenmore lasted 15! years. This is the end of a long family tradition. It seems to me with Sears aquisition of KMArt came the KMart quality.

Door Lock

Mine is approaching its last legs, but I'll stay with the POS until it dies. In the meantime I would like to disable the door lock. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that?

Kenmore Eco Cycle
by: Lousy Kenmore

Same story, my Kenmore Eco Cycle Front Loader made a large bang and there was actual black grease on the clothes. Sears was no help. Even after telling them the problem they just wanted to make the service call. Luckily, an independent repair service said, "If you can move the tub back and forth and side to side easily, the spindle is broken and don't bother wasting money on a sevice call. Buy a new washer. NEVER BUY KENMORE.

Welcome to the club!
by: Felicitas

YES, YES, YES!
i really feel quite welcome here.
My washer from 2002 just died 2 weeks ago with exactly that: THE NECK BROKE OFF THE SPINDLE. Repair would have been close to $800.- (Sears technician). So i drove endless miles to the nearest SEARS to get a new one. After giving the salesman my model number and telling him, that its the stackable model from 2002 and that my existing dryer needs to go on top of the new machine like it is right now he picked out the machine and i paid about $780.-. 12 (!) days later delivery. The delivery dude comes in, checks out my 'old' set, says 'nay, thats not gonna work'. Turns out the new model is not compatible with one from 2002. Thanks, SEARS!

NO MORE KENMORE FOR ME!!
by: Anonymous

We bought our Kenmore washing machine 5 years ago also. Front load, high capacity, eco friendly. We bought it for approx. 900$. Yesterday, the last cycle made the biggest noise ever! We called a friend of ours who works at Sears and told us it's not worth calling a technician. It will cost us 100$ just to tell us it will cost us 800$ to fix it! He said that the washing machines these days only last about 7-8 years. My mother still has hers and it's going on almost 25 years. I am very disapointed!!! We are now looking for an LG washer since they have a 7 years warranty on them. Good luck to all the Kenmore owners.

I think you solved my problem.
by: Anonymous

My Kenmore Front Loader W/ECO Cycle is only 5 years old and I already spent $375 for one repair and it just broke again. We didn't call repairman because we knew it would cost more than the first problem. Sounds like what you described. My husband said no more Kenmore. Our first washer lasted 19 years.

Breakmore washers
by: Anonymous

I will NEVER buy a Kenmore again. The first front loader lasted exactly 5 years. The store salesman had some big speech about that one and convinced us to buy another. Well, now 3 1/2 years into it, this new recommended one no longer works. I am not wasting my time on repairmen any longer. They can't really fix them and it is outrageously expensive if they even have the parts.

These machines just don't last and we are wasting our money!

Dissapointed
by: Anonymous

Same here! My Kenmore front loading with eco cycle was purchased 7 years ago and recently decided to stop spinning fast enough to get the water out, then stopped spinning altogether. We called an independent repairman who tried and couldn't fix it, he's wonderful and wouldn't even allow us to pay him for the visit! After reading everyone's comments I don't think I'll call the Sears repairman. I expect a washing machine to last for MANY years, I'm dissapointed and don't expect to buy another Kenmore.

Kenmore eco care system model #417.43142200
by: cindy

After 5 years of use it began making a deafening jet engine noise during the spin cycle. Closing the laundry room door does not even help reduce the noise pollution it causes. Customer service or customer care does not exist through Sears. Bad business, bad machine. Do not buy!!! It is manufactured by Frigidaire.

jet engine noise no customer service!
by: cindy 12-04-09

We bought our kenmore front loader about 6 years ago. Within the last year it started making such a loud jet engine noise it hurts our ears! I called Sears 1-800 number and they were so rude to me. They must know about the problem and are ignoring our complaints. I got no where with them. So I called our local Sears and he was somewhat helpful, at least he listened to my complaint. He said that my model was manufactured by Frigidaire and to call them. I have not called them yet, but don't expect help from them either. Frigidaire, Kenmore, Sears I will never buy from you again. You cannot stand behind your products and you will not provide customer support. I spent thousands of dollars at Sears and bought 5 appliances. Never again! Buyers beware!! Thanks a whole lot Sears!

My washing machine sounds like it's getting ready for takeoff!
by: micheleb

I purchased the Kenmore front loader w/ eco cycle six years ago. In the last few months the spin cycle has become increasingly louder and louder. I have to shut the door to the laundry room. I even switched the 'final spin speed' knob from 'fast' to 'normal' and it's still too loud. It sounds like a jet engine taking off. The manual said "a certain amount of motor whine is normal during the spin cycle". About two years ago I had to have the compatible dryer repaired.

ORDEAL with Kenmore Front Loader
by: Anonymous

What an ORDEAL my KENMORE front loader has caused~about 3 years ago I noticed the the clothes or sheets etc. were dry in areas~I called a repair guy & he charged me $75.00 just to tell me there was nothing wrong with it mainly because they were ignorant on front loaders let alone how to fix one!~I called Sears & they sold me a 1 year Service Contract over the phone for $350.00~I was told if the machine could not be fixed under this contract it would be replaced~what they don't tell you is they schedual appt for up to 3 weeks & then another 2 weeks to order parts~ Luckily my neighbors let me use their washers while mine was constantly being looked at by the Sears repair service~It infuriates me ~~~I don"t even want to write about it any more~Sears had lost a very good customer ~every major appliance~washers, dryers, oven, refigerators, dishwasher including lawn mowers vacumes etc was from Sears~NOT ANY MORE~I NO LONGER SHOP AT Sears for anything~~~

Stay away from this model
by: Anonymous

My advice is not to ever buy the kenmore eco cycle. I've had the timer replaced twice and now it has failed again. The cost to replace it for the third time will be more than what this piece of junk cost me. And it is only seven years old!!

My front loader broke this week too. Same scenario with tech costing $140 and to fix it $500+.I had this machine less than 5 years. Should Sears tell their consumers the truth or give credit for newer models? I need another front loader to rest my still functioning dryer. Any recommendations?
