Kenmore Elite HE3 with QuietPak 2

by Monika Woods
(Martin, Georgia, United States)

I my gosh, I really like this washing machine. Not only is it exceptionally quiet, but it washes my clothes very well. It is a front load washer that is energy efficient and uses less water than top loading models.

There are some maintenance issues that one must follow, but they are simple enough. There are low settings, high settings, cold, warm, hot, extra spin, you name it.

You can turn the signal for the end of the cycle on or off. I can fit a huge blanket in to wash, or just do a small load of clothes.

Some of the negatives, I cannot do a large load of clothes like 10 pairs of jeans. For some reason this throws the machine off balance, so I only fill it about half way up unless I am doing a large blanket.

I have even washed my feather comforters in this machine. They come out clean and fresh.

The rubber on the seal must be cleaned, and I use vinegar once a month to clean it off because it gets mildew. This is normal and I do not mind at all. It is SO much better than the top loading machines that suck your socks over the edge and you never see them again.

Another caution is HE soap must be used. HE soap will not foam up and back up in the wash tube. My water bill actually went down when I bought this washer.

I bought it with the pedastal at the bottom, otherwise it would have been to low to wash clothes. Because I like this machine so much I do laundry almost every day.

I don't feel guilty because it only uses the water that it needs, and I am not filling a giant tub up. Without an agitator in the middle I don't have ripped clothing like I used to.

Don't buy this one
by: Deb Lane

Don't buy one. Broke after 21 months of usage. First repair through the fourth repair and a months worth of trying to get it fixed. Every time the repairman said it was fixed and left, I would do my wash and the same problems occurred. 6F error code. Replaced parts etc. Repairman said he couldn't fix it.

Techs at Whirlpool wanted to keep replacing parts, but the repairmen said it still probably wouldn't fix it and not to waste our money. Sears informed us they wouldn't replace it but would reimburse us the costs of the four repairs.

They wanted to continue replacing parts. By the time we were done replacing the parts we would have more into it than what we paid for it. Enough was enough. It was suggested to me to write to Corporate headquarters and complain that I wanted a replacement. They would not give me a phone number.

Sears, Kenmore and Whirlpool have definitively lost a very good (consumer) customer.
