Kenmore 700 Clothes Dryer

by A Clarke
(Ontario, Canada)

The Kenmore 700 is a great choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced clothes dryer!

I have owned this dryer for almost a year now. It gets used for several loads of laundry daily and it hasn’t been in need of any repair yet.
There are several desirable features included in this model such as the optional alert chime.

You can choose the level of volume you want the dryer to buzz at when it tells you your laundry is dry, or you can turn it off completely. I like this feature because there are times I do not want to hear the buzzer – such as when the kids are napping and then there are times I don’t want to forget to take the clothes out to hang.

The touch up option is very beneficial and I tend to use it often as I’m not much into spending my time ironing clothes. I simple throw a shirt or two into the dry, select touch up, and in about 10 minutes I have clothing that looks great and it ready to use!

One thing I dislike about this dry is involving the lint trap. I like the fact that it is internal so unlike with other dryers, the top of the dryer doesn’t get covered in lint when you pull out the trap but there is a felt strip located along the outer edge of the trap that started to fall off after about 3 uses.

This felt strip now has to be tucked back in the edge every single use and sometimes it even gets caught inside the dryer and can be difficult to fish out!

Quiet Pak 2, King Size Capacity
by: Yolanda Smith

Today our dryer isn't heating anymore. Maybe it has run it's course. We bought it six years ago. We have a family of seven and sometimes we would have up to 19 loads a week and it worked just fine. Every now and then we would have to dry towels and jeans for 80 minutes. (My children take the KING SIZE seriously!) Now, I'm in the process of troubleshooting so I came to this website to find out what others have experience. I see from previous comments that we have been blessed with a pretty good product.

Check the vent going to the outside. My husband cleaned ours out(which ours goes thru the attic and out the roof)and after that was done it now works great. I was ready to toss it but it dries the clothes really fast now.

700 series hunk of junk
by: Joe phila

The worst. I will not get this repaired.I was looking to see if I could repair this taking for ever to dry problem, but I think I'm done with this one. It's 2 yrs old and was fine until about a month ago. To many people are talking about the same thing with this piece of junk.700 series elec.dryer.

2 Years, No Problems
by: Anonymous

We're almost up to 3 years with this dryer. Family of 5, it gets used daily, usually for more than 1 load. Dries 12 heavy towels in 60 mins, comforters in less time. Loads of jeans take 45 mins, regular tees and stuff usually 40. The only complaint is the felt trim on the lint trap, it's a pain.

sucks!

Same as the other post. A family of four you have to run every load twice or three times to get them dry. We spend our free time drying clothes over and over.
Everything checks out. Vent is new, heating element works as it should this dryer just sucks.

Discouraged

I recently purchased this dryer about 6 months ago. The dial for the minutes selection will not turn anymore. The inside is made have plastic and has cracked. I thought Kenmore was a good brand name and lasts forever. With parts like this they don't!!

no help from sears
by: Anonymous

Purchased Kenmore Super Capacity gas dryer model 78732700 just 20 months ago. Worked fine, but now the door is difficult to close, and won't stay closed during operation. No help from Sears after 4 different telephone calls.

Broke after 3 years- not worth repairing!
by: kristine

We are very dissatisfied with this product. It never worked well and we've had multiple mechanical problems. The drum (rollers?) went after one year of use (parts under warranty but had to pay $140.00 labor for a dryer that cost only $400.00) Two years after that, the cellanoids stopped working and the dryer wouldn't light/heat (drum spins, but won't dry)
We had similarly bad experiences with our Kenmore washer. I'll never buy another Kenmore product.

My 700 is great!
by: Anonymous

Something is wrong with those other commented on dryers. My Kenmore 700 heats just fine. I can pack it full and the clothes come out dry and warm/hot after 30-45 min.. get yours serviced!

Kenmore 700
by: Marcia

The Kenmore 700 is the worst clothes dryer I have ever owned unless you like waiting for 4 hours to dry a load of towels, 2 hours for jeans, and 1 1/2 hours for cottons. It takes all weekend with the dryer on constantly to do a family of 4. Sears is also not a friendly consumer store. They charge a 15% restocking fee when you return their terrible dryer.
