Hotpoint WD64P washer/dryer
I bought my Hotpoint WD64P washer/dryer second-hand from a private individual about a year ago. Despite having been pre-owned, it has performed quite well, needing only minimal maintenance. The controls were a bit daunting at first but actually it's quite easy to use.
I also like the smart brilliant white finish which fits in well with my kitchen.
The main advantage of any combination washer dryer is the small space it takes up. Instead of two bulky appliances you have only one, making it a good solution for smaller homes like mine
Hotpoint washer dryers are a good mid-range buy, neither overpriced and too fancy nor made from cheap parts and likely to break down.
The capacity isn't great. I have to take out half my clothes before setting the tumble cycle, meaning that I still have wet clothes hanging around and have to do two loads. It just doesn't dry as effectively as an ordinary spin dryer does. It takes a long time for my clothes to be fully dry.
All in all, if I had the space I would replace my washer dryer with a separate washer and dryer. This would be more efficient, and also allow for larger loads to be dried at one. If I had a family to wash for I definitely wouldn't be able to manage with just the washer dryer. However, for someone like me who lives in a small dwelling, it's a good compromise.
Pros- Space saving
- A good mid-range buy
Cons- Dryer not as effective as a single dryer
- The capacity isn't great
