Hot Water Does It

If you have a recent stain you can sometimes remove it very easily just by running it thru with very hot water and maybe rubbing the fabric together with some soap; you can also let it soak in the sink for an hour using hot water; the stain (depending on what it is) should be much better;

hot water works
by: Anonymous

In the past I would use those carpet spot cleaners to take care of dirt tracked onto the carpet, pet accidents, etc. But I have found that just scrubbing it with a little hot (or even just warm) water often works just as well. Sometimes it actually seems to work better and faster than a spot cleaner would. It works best when the spot is fresh, but I have had luck with some older spots, too. It's always worth trying first.

Make sure the fabric won't shrink before running under hot water. I think some stains actually do better with cold water.

Not only does hot water work on clothes, but also on germs that can get into clothes.

Hot water is always the best option, but only if you get to the stain IMMEDIATELY!
