Hoover 3525

by Angie
(Australia)

I currently have a Hoover 3525. It's a bit of an older clothes dryer, I suppose. I purchased it second hand to save a bit of money.

I'm really quite happy with the Hoover. It's an electric dryer but it has an interesting feature, at least it is interesting to me.

The hot air blows out through the front of the clothes dryer through a vent in the door. The lint catcher is there, too, of course, and makes it very easy to clean.

The drawback to this type of feature is that if you have your clothes dryer in the house, it can really heat things up in the summer. I suppose it would be welcome in the winter to add a little extra warmth to the house.

Fortunately, since I live in the tropics, my clothes dryer is out in the carport. I try not to use it too much when I can hang the clothes on the line, but we have enough rainy days that I'm grateful to have a clothes dryer.

The electric dryer does make my power bill go up significantly, but I have to admit I much prefer my clothes dried in the dryer rather than on the line. It's not just the ease of use. It's also the softness it gives the clothes.

Hanging the clothes on the line is nice, but the clothes dry much stiffer, particularly towels. We like our towels nice and soft rather than scratchy.

I also think that the sun tends to fade the clothes much quicker so my Hoover clothes dryer is a blessing.

Hi Angie
by: Lance

I was interested to read your comments on this model of Hoover dryer. I agree that they are pretty good dryers in general.
Just a couple of points I like to make. Firstly, it is very important to clean the lint filter after every load, to keep it running efficiently and to avoid over heating problems. Secondly, you bought secondhand, so I would suggest that you have somebody check the dryer for safety. Specific problem can be a buildup of lint around the heater element, inside the back of the dryer.
Its a bit of a bugger to get to, but worth checking - if it catches fire then the dryer is ruined and also your clothes.
Probably an easy way to check if the problem exists - run the dryer without clothes for 20 minutes, then pull the filter and vent assembly out of the door while still running. Smell the hot air coming out - if it smells burnt, then u have a potential problem now.
Hope this is helpful to you, and anyone else who may read this. kind regards, Lance.
