General stains - lemon and salt !!

A elderly southern lady told me many years ago the way they removed stains from tablecloths and such were to lay the cloth in the sun. Pour lemon and salt on the spot. Let it sit all day. I tried it and it worked pretty good, but then came oxiclean. For best results,soak item in a bucket with a scoop of oxiclean over night. Rinse in your washing machine.

I agree this isnt the fastest method but it is eco friendly and all it takes is some patience.

this method is one of the best stain removal nethods that i have used. indeed of using costly washing powders, using this method helps a lot. the only drawback of this method is that it takes some time. this method can be harmful for dark coloured clothes. so its better to stick to light coloured clothes.

Your elderly Southern lady was correct, and my grandmother told me the same thing -- but it's not a quick method. It wouldn't be my first choice.

Lemon and salt work well, but... I used this method on a skirt and it lightened the treated area on a dark colored skirt! Not good on dark colors. Stick to white or light colors when using this method of stain removal!

I agree with you that lemon and salt work great but you have to make sure that the item is color fast if you use lemon juice for it acts as a bleaching agent.
