General Electric Profile Model WJRE5550K2WW

by Ellen Gardner
(Greer, SC)

Purchased on 7/6/09. Delivered and set up on 7/10/09. stopped working on 7/18/09. Total loads washed:8.5 So far, this machine sucks! earliest repair date 7/23/09. So far, GE repair sucks!

Previous machine was a Maytag, which was only 8 years old. That one had to be repaired 2X so Maytag sucks too!

DO NOT BUY
by: Anonymous

What a waste of money! It doesn't spin correctly, wash correctly or do anything it should correctly. Dry spots on clothes that I put into the water myself! Forget about anything that has a lot of dirt on it! I purchased the extended warranty-what a waste of money! Lowes never set it up when they delivered it because the hose didn't reach my outlet. The guy told me to go to Lowes and buy an extension kit! since July I have been back and forth between Lowes and GE with each blaming the other for the machine's problems. Meanwhile, I'm out $600.00! GE should recall this machine!

White spots on dark clothes GE WJRE5550K2WW
by: Anonymous

I have been washing clothes for 35+ years, using everything from laundramat machines, agitating machines, front-load, and now a top-load GE High-Efficiency washer. And I am so disgusted with this GE Model (WJRE5550K2WW).

I use "he" detergent and I still get white spots on my dark clothing. I have lessened the amount of "he" detergent, and still get the spots. I have also laundered with and without fabric softner. These clothes are hung to dry, so the dryer is not an issue. We had a GE repairman out and he could not give us an answer as to "why" since we had tried everything we could to eliminate the spots.

I am ready to throw this brand-new machine off the roof of my house.

Any suggestions???

NEW GE WASHER FAILS ON 4TH LOAD
by: Anonymous

Just bought a new GE Washer Model# WJRE5550KWW,

ON THE 4 LOAD THE SPIN CYCLE HAS FAILED. I ASKED THE SALES PERSON BEFORE I PURCHASED IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY PROBLEMS. HE ABSOLUTELY ASSURED ME THIS WAS A GREAT WASHER AND HAD HAD NO COMPLAINTS. I WAS RELUCTANT TO PURCHASE GE, BUT DESPERATE.

MY OLD WHIRLPOOL LASTED FOR OVER 20 YEARS WITHOUT A PROBLEM, I CAN'T GET 4 LOADS OUT OF THIS ONE.

IT HAD A HIGH SCREEM PITCH COMING FROM IT THAT MADE MY DOGS HOWL. I COULD HEAR IT THROUGH TWO ROOMS IT WAS SO LOUD.

I WANTED TO RETURN IT. THEY SAID NO. IT HAS TO BE FIRST REPAIRED BY GE. I ALREADY HATE THIS MACHINE AND WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!

BY THE WAY, MY 20 PLUS YEAR OLD WHIRLPOOL DRYER SITS BESIDE IT. STILL DRYING CLOTHS WITHOUT EVER A PROBLEM. ALL I CAN SAY WAS HOW STUPIT I WAS NOT TO GO BACK TO WHIRLPOOL.

didn't work from beginning
by: Anonymous

The GE King Size Capacity-model #WJRE5550KWW washer was delivered to my house yesterday, was hooked up, delivery man put a little water in it, drained it and left.

I put a small load of clothes in, it filled it, never started the wash cycle, just sat there for 5 minutes, and I pushed the start button, which of course paused the cycle. So I drained the water, and found out the spin cycle does not work either. I called the 1-800 number, they wanted me to schedule a repair man to come out, the washer is 1 hour old and I need a repair man. I called Lowe's and have requested they pick up the washer and bring me another one.

That was at 5 p.m. yesterday, as of 8:30 a.m. today I have not received a call confirming if they have another one in stock that can be delivered. What has happened with the quality of our appliances, washers and dryers use to last 15 to 20 years, now we are lucky if they last 1 year, the washer I was replacing was 13 months old, they wanted more to repair it than I paid for it 13 months ago.
