GE WBVH5300 Front Load Washer

check mark

Product Overview

One of the most celebrated features of this washer is its Energy Star compliance that makes it an energy-efficient home item to have at home. Aside from the benefits of being environmentally friendly, in using this washer, consumers can help save on energy cost.

• noiseless system

• reversible washing

• spin/speed combination

• energy efficiency

• excellent loading capacity

• limited option for color and design

• bulky

• expensive price

In terms of loading capacity, the GE WBVH5300 can accommodate more loads wth its 4 cu. ft. size, which is ideal for large families or anyone who does heavy washing or has drapes or bedding to wash week after week.

This front-loading washing machine has a LED indicator that shows the cycle that is currently in progress. This way, users don't have to worry much about their laundry or even keep coming back just to check.

The HydroMotion wash action system of this washer offers a more thorough cleaning performance, which is achieved through the reversal wash action. Its efficiency also comes from its ability to track water pressure and store information from previous cycles through its Adaptive Logic System. The recorded information is then used by the washer to calculate optimal cycle times. These intuitive features take away much of the responsibility from the user.

To best care for the fabric, the GE WBVH5300 has the PerfectTemp management system that controls the temperature of the water. The fabric is well taken care of because aside from its PerfectTemp system, it also has four options for wash/rinse temperature, which is truly helpful in effectively removing dirt and even stains. This could also aid the slowing down of the wear and tear process of the fabric.

Another good feature of this washing machine that users would really find useful is the spin/speed combination. This makes washing more effective by enabling the users to alternate the speed of the spin. If users have no need for heavy and thorough washing, they can opt for the other speed washing controls of the GE WBVH5300.

This washer also has up to 14 wash cycles and has a delay option for soaking the laundry a little longer or for leaving it for a while. With its 1000 RPM spin speed, this washer really works fast without causing any damage to the fabric. A special insulating material allows for its silent spinning. It works just as hard as any washer but doesn't whine as much.

Advantages

Because of its numerous features, many consumers are really impressed by this washer. According to them, these features help in the thorough washing of the laundry as well as in making the task easier.

This washing machine can handle king-size comforters or 24 full bath towels with efficiency. Among the most advantageous features of this washer according to some is its reversing wash action that results in deeper cleaning.

The speed alternating option is also a favorite feature of many users because, like the reversing wash system, this can also aid in the easy removal of dirt and stains on the fabric.

Aside from the noise muffler of this washer, its energy efficiency is also one of its major benefits. People can save some money from their utility bills when using this front loader.

Disadvantages

While there are many advantages to this GE front-loading washer, some consumers have also cited some disappointments. With its large size (42 ½" height, 27" width, and 31 ¼" depth), this washer is a bit bulky and hard to fit into spaces. It takes up a large space in the laundry room.

This model is also available only in white and stainless colors, which are very limited compared with washer models from other brands. This front loader costs around $799; some shoppers think it's a bit pricey.

Final Thought

Before buying this washer, one has to make sure that he or she has weighed the pros and cons of using this washing machine. For style-conscious buyers, this front loader is not the best choice out there because of its limited colors, large size, and typical design.

But when it comes to performance, the GE WBVH5300 proves to be a dependable home appliance. It cleans well, takes less time to finish the task, and has useful program buttons and features that take away much of the burden of laundry washing from users.

All in all, it is still a good option for a front-loading washer despite its drawbacks.

Do not buy this washer!!
by: Anonymous

We have had ours for 1 1/2 years (GE replaced the washer after repeated service calls but the new washer is just as bad). There is a design defect in this washer. It continually gets unbalanced and won't spin out towels, jeans etc. without knocking and banging. It is sooo frustrating to have to babysit your WASHING MACHINE. I have a job, kids & a husband. This is not what I paid for. Save your money and do not buy GE!

I jus purchased one yesterday!

Has anyone thought to get a refund for this 'crap' wash machine? or at least exchange? aren't we entitled to at least refund/exchange, who wants to pay a large amount of $$$ for something that is banging around and not working properly? by the way my washer too is jumping around during 'rinse' cycle and it's banging into the walls inside but for a few seconds only and then it spins so well. But it shouldnt even bang around like that. I'm taking mine back on Monday.

Disgusted as well
by: Anonymous

Was glad to see someone else had trouble with this piece of crap as well. I can't wash towels in mine, it won't stop jumping and crashing into walls. It's level, been professionally checked and the same results of jumping and crashing all over the place. Doesn't matter how big the load is of towels, they all get tangled causing sevre unbalancing. When the wash finally stops about 2 hours later then yeah they don't take long to dry but not worth it.

Total waste of money. I have never felt so robbed in my life.

Wash times.
by: Anonymous

Front load washers without a doubt take longer to wash, but while doing this they are using very little water. Also when they are done the entire laundry process is drastically shortened due to the fact that most of the water is spun out of the clothes. This brings the drying process down to 30 minutes or less compared to an hour and a half from a traditional top load washer. Your energy savings come from your dryer not working so hard.

Worst Purchase Ever..Disgusted
by: C. O'Donnell

This is my first front load washer. I was initially excited about getting it; although it was a replacement for a top load (that only lasted 5 years from brand new).

PROS:
- Big Capacity,
- Spins Clothes Almost Dry & Spins Both Ways, Delay Start,
- Extra Rinse

CONS:
- Spendy $800 & Additional Warranty,
- very heavy @ 248 lb.

You can make sure it is ALL level and it will still jump all over the place; no matter what size load you put in it so I can't do laundry without being in the house.

It takes longer time to even just wash a load, compared to my old washer. For every setting you change it adds time. Just for regular wash you are looking at an hour. You have NO control over the water settings. It doesn't get all the soap out, even if you are only using 1 Tablespoon of recommended "H.E." soap per load!

If you put soap in and set on delay, the soap sometimes runs out the front door. Extra Rinse on every load, and sometimes still doesn't get the soap out, so it's just using more water, and time/electric. The Bleach tray, be very careful..if you have carpet, you will spill bleach more than once.

How can it be "H.E." if it uses more time/electric & more water for extra rinse/options, or same water for small & large loads???? I do laundry daily and never minded it...and now I hate doing laundry, or even looking at the machine! What a waste.
