GE Model GSD3835F00WW

by Alden
(Boulder)

This is a very good washing machine. It's better than the one I had in my last apartment, which was an older whirlpool. This specific machine has a decent appearance. It's white plastic. Simple and functional. I would not go so far as to say elegant or impressive, but it does not look overtly old. It does not disgrace the entire apartment with its ugliness. But as I said, neither does it enhance the place or look expensive.

Let's talk about reliability. It has never failed on me once. The model I had before, a Whirlpool, was prone to jamming. It would simply seize up and stop working. The repairmen could fix the problem in a few minutes, but it was rather disturbing and unpleasant. Nothing will ruin your day like a broken washing machine. Fortunately, this model by GE (General Electric) does not have this problem. It is a workhorse.

I would say that it does a very good, if not spectacular, job on the dishes. Glasses and bowls come out spotless. If I put a very dirty pan in, say with eggs stuck on, it will probably still have some food on it at the end of the cycle. Occasionally, forks will not come out clean. Large knives usually do.

One good thing about this washing machine is that the upper rack gets washed. The machine has a spout which rises out of the bottom of the center of the lower rack. It sprays the top rack, so that even when the bottom rack is jammed full, water makes it to the upper rack. Dishes there come out clean consistently.

The interface is easy to use and I have not had any problems with it. LIke on most dishwashers, you simply turn a dial. I don't pay much attention to the specific setting. It gives you buttons for eight different energy settings. I never pay any attention to that though.

Ant that, in conclusion, is what I like so much about this GE dishwasher. I don't have to think about it. It just does the job. Yes, I have to put the dishes in there myself, but I do not, thankfully, have to do much else. I definitely give it a thumbs up.
